Chapter 4
Sebastian’s point of view The sudden taste of Ryan’s lips on mine fucked with my senses for a second before I regained control and pushed him off and away from me. My palm swiped over my mouth in tainted irritation as I frowned my face, “What the fuck? What was that for? Eww!” I couldn’t help my brimming disgust. Ryan smirked at me, a smug expression on his face while he remain muted. “You’re sick in the head.” I heaved a harsh groan as I walked out of the hall. Still repulsed by what he did. What was that for? Why would he kiss me in the front of a nosy crowd? There was a motive behind that kiss, I knew but was stuck trying to figure out what the motive was. My head pulsed with multiple questions as I got into my parked Deux Vayanne, brand new and worth millions of dollars. I adjusted myself into the seatbelt before I wheeled my baby into motion and zoomed out of the vicinity. He sped through the litted city of New York, my mind loaded and etched with the night I just had. “Ah ah!” I slapped the side of the wheel as I let out a knowing gasp. “I knew it!” After much thought, I finally pieced together a reason behind Ryan’s strange and bizarre gesture. “He wants people to see me as the bad guy, and him as the angel. That sneaky bastard!” I spoke through gritted teeth, my grip on the wheels also tightened. “I knew it. I fucking knew it!” I slapped harder on the wheels. “He wants people to think it’s a one sided beef. Because why on earth would he kiss me when he has a girlfriend?” I scoffed. “Now it’s game on for real.” I sighed after my statement. I’m gonna fuck that bastard up for real this time. The sound of my ringing phone nearly jolted my heart out of place. I groaned as I reached out to get it, and saw it was a call from my secretary. I set the phone an a holder before I answered the call, “Yeah Donna?” I spoke into the call. “Start explaining, I know what I saw on the internet aren’t fake,” she retorted. I groaned even harder. ……Back at the Governor’s Hall…… Xavier’s point of view The gathered crowd has dissipated once Sebastian exited the scene. I who stood behind the Governor quickly caught up with Ryan before he could also decided to leave. “OMG. So he hates you, but you’re like in love with him right?” I quizzed as soon as I got to his side, my brows perched in curiosity. We’ve been talking since the night started, I don’t think he’d be close up about his relationship or past with Sebastian with me. “What is between me and Seb shouldn’t really be your business,” Ryan politely let me off. That’s still rude in my opinion. “Oh please.” I rolled my eyes. “You made it everyone’s business when you took his hand, brought him close and place that kissable lips of yours on his. Gosh that was top notch!” I breathed in fascination. “If you’ll excuse me, I’ll be on my way now. It was fun getting acquainted.” He smiled at me as he turned back to walk out of the door. “Wait wait wait, what if I say I can help you?” I quickly stopped him before he could step out. “Huh?” Ryan looked at me confused, because when did he cry to me that he needs help? He didn’t, but he reeks of it. He needs help. “Well I know you’re in love with Seb, and I’m about to partner with him. That’s why he was my date to this old man’s party, we were to talk about our partnership and business. So what if I can get Sebastian to forgive you and love you back, and in return you ease my curiosity,” I proffered. All this just to know what happened between them, pathetic. Ryan nearly slammed a palm against his forehead. I watched him held his hand down. “Talk to you later, Xavier. That’s if you’re still around.” Ryan didn’t wait for my response before he walked off and out of my sight. “What a cunt?” I huffed at his disappearance before I turned around and approach the governor so I can also bade him bye. The Governor was a friend of my dad, it was him he invited, but he couldn’t honor him so he sent down me, his son to stand in his name. “My father extends his warm regards, and birthday wishes.” I tapped on the Governor’s shoulder when I got to him to earn his attention. When the Governor noticed it was Xavier, he excused the guests he was in conversation with and decided to give Xavier his full focus. “Yeah I got a call from him, said he couldn’t make it and that you’ll be here instead of him. I hope he’s alright?” “Well he’s alright, but seriously lazy. Although I don’t regret coming down here at all,” I snarked at the earlier drama with Sebastian and Ryan. “He has a gift for you but I forgot that in my hotel. I’ll send it over before I leave for Spain. Come old man, let’s have a chat. How acquainted are you with Sebastian Torres?” I slipped my arm around the Governor’s own as I carefully moved us into motion. “He helped during my campaign, I’m also an investor in one of his companies. And I’m not an old man,” Governor DuPont responded as he jerked his hand away from me. “Yeah said that to the grey strands in your hair, or the wrinkles spotted on your face. And are we forgetting that I went to the same school with your kid, what’s her name again? Nah I don’t care, point is you’re an old man and I need you to give me Sebastian’s home address?” I formed a doe eyes as I pitched my request. “Why would I give you that?” His brows furrowed in confusion. “Number one, Sebastian is also about to become my partner in business so I’m not a stalker or anything. And two, you can dot dot dot. But seriously, I need your help with that.” I kept my twinkling gaze on the man as I waited patiently for him to cave. “I don’t feel like-“ “Okay old man. I was nice enough. You can either give me that address, or the gold I’m meant to give you will suddenly get lost, and when my father gives me another one, it’ll keep getting lost. But you give me that address, I can even promise you more gold. Also this doesn’t have to make us enemies, but I know about your letters to my mother.” I smiled after I’ve successfully got him cornered. Yeah that’s the best thing about knowing all of people’s dirty little secrets. “Fine, I’ll text you the details. However, you need to know Sebastian Torres is one heck of a private man. The address everybody knows is not his main residence, his main residence is a mystery that nobody knows, but he randomly pulls up at the address he told everybody was his house.” “You see. No harm committed. All you had to do was be a Good Samaritan, and you nearly made me a villain. All because I wanted an address.” I shook my head as I tsked at the Governor. “You’re a fucking asshole.” “Aww, thanks. It’s a nice crown to wear. Now send me that address before I put your ass in a hole you might never come out from. Toodles, and more years for you to celebrate!” I laughed at him as I sauntered off his premises.Chapter 5 Sebastian’s point of view Donna and I talked throughout my ride home. She’s my friend, worked with me for four years before I trusted her enough to become my friend. She doesn’t really know what happened between me and Ryan, but she knew more than the media. I decided to spend the night at my penthouse since it was near. I got there and went straight to the shower. My mind stilled and calm off the rustle it has been since I left the party when the cold shower slapped on my skin. This was not the future I planned for myself and Ryan or saw for us, we were suppose to be best friends forever. Why did he have to betray me? Why did he have to make us become enemies? We’re suppose to be at the top together. Because now, the only thing on my mind that I deeply craved for was now Ryan’s downfall. The end to his reign. The doom to his legacy. And I’ll be damned if I do not get that. Ryan has stolen a lot from me, and done a lot to me in return for the platonic love I gave hi
Chapter 6 Ryan’s point of view “What’s this?” Mother nearly shoved her phone into my face as I walked through the door. “Ryan what’s this?” The screen flashed harsher into my eyes. I squinted at the headline displayed in my view, it spoke about my scandalous pull from The Governor’s birthday party. Titled “The Damned Kiss”. Wait when was this? An hour or two ago and it has been published wide enough for my mom to get it. The world can be really jobless at times. “It is what it is.” I shrugged and responded, pushing through where she has me cornered as I strolled further into the mansion. Vivian, my sister was right by the stairs, a mischievous smirk on her face as I approached her. Of course. This must be her dirty work. I mean I should have predicted even, since when does mom surf the internet enough for her to know the hottest talk of the city. I got to her presence, casted a long look of shame, then shook my head and walk off. “Did he just walk out on me?
Chapter 7Sebastian’s point of view Getting through the night was as hectic as I presumed it would be when I let myself sheltered a drunk guest. Sure he was drunk before he came over, but my treat added to the mood. I’d offer him the luxury of my fridge, where he sampled into his guts my alcoholic beverages and wine. I had to tuck Xavier into one of my guest rooms later after he’s made a mess of my living room with his puke. As disgusted as it made me, I tried not to react offensively at the kiss. He was drunk and wasn’t in control of himself, besides it was just a kiss. Bleh! Though if he had kept making attempts, I sure would’ve honored the thought of throwing him out in the middle of the night. Dawn came sooner than expected, and I found myself operating on a brief hours of sleep. When I checked up on Xavier, he was still deep in his slumber while I was already dressed up to start the day. It’s 7am already, when does he wake up? I left the house with a message from me through
Chapter 8Ryan’s point of view “How did it go?” Donna, Seb’s secretary who helped sectioned the meetup between Seb and I asked as she saw me stormed out of his office with his men hovering right behind me. I gave her a knowing look as I glanced at the guards Seb had instructed to escort me outside. She sighed when she got the memo, “He can be a real pain in the ass with his stubbornness sometimes, let me just help you deal with him. I might be able to get him to his senses,”I didn’t respond to her, I just went into the elevator and when the guards tried to follow me in I gave them a cold glare that slit a pause to their motion. I can’t believe he would chase me out. Seriously how stubborn did he have to be? For me to sneak into your office just so I can talk and explain things to you, shouldn’t that tell him how genuine I was? Instead he chose to believe I was there to manipulate him. I scoffed out aloud, manipulate him for what? Why would I come to lie to him now? What could
Chapter 9Sebastian’s point of view “Unless you’re ready to tell me exactly how Ryan was able to sneak into my office and ruin my day, then quit bugging me!” I snapped at the intercom that connects me to my secretary, closing Donna’s another attempt to talk to me. She already tried barging in, and was sent outside with the threat that I might stop joking around with the thought of sacking her and act on it if she doesn’t leave me alone. Barely a second later, my door pushed open without my permission. Annoyance flayed over my face as I trailed gaze up at the entrance to see it was Donna, “You better be ready to talk,” I chided. She stepped aside for someone she was with to come inside, the person being Xavier. Oh, so he’s here. Must be why Donna kept bugging me with beeps. “Mister Xavier, I-““Thought we were past the formalities now? Or did I not woke up in your house?” He cut into my sentence. I glanced at Donna who raised her brows at the heard of Xavier’s words. “It’s not
Chapter 10Ryan’s point of view I was already late when I arrived at NT’s venue for the interview they’ve scheduled with me to air on their channel. There was no time to prep for the show so I was instantly ushered into the shooting room as soon as I came in. I was told to wait for the host to announce my arrival and invite me to stage. It was then I looked over to the stage, and shot a small smirk at who I found seated already with the said host. I waved and beckoned at the manager who was close to me, “Wasn’t I told this would be a solo interview?” I queried when he got close enough. “Well yeah, but we made a last minute decision to sit you both to get a wider audience. Both your supporters and his would be tuning in to hear what you both have to say.” The wired intercom he has plugged in his ear beeped as he pressed on it. “Hey, yeah he’s ready.” He looked up at me, “You’re going in,” he told me and then quickly walked away and towards his crew. I drew in a long breath to le
Chapter 11 Sebastian’s point of view Awe took hold of my face, my expression, my sense of self, basically all of me. Courtesy of his sudden confession, words that influenced my current state of awestruck. What does he mean by that?…. ‘Seb I was in love with you. I was and still am…’ the words replay over and over again in my head, in a blissful echo that sounded peaceful rather than dangerous. He closed the small gap that separated us, then made to cup my cheek when I ducked out of his reach and step away from him to the right side of the elevator wall. His brows creased in haze. I scoffed. I know this wasn’t the reaction he expected from me after my little showcase at his confession. However, who does he think he’s dealing with? A ten year old who’s never been out in the world? Cause that’s the kind of person he can trick successfully and fool with his words. “You really expect me to melt at the heard of that didn’t you?” I asked, as another scoff fell through. “Gosh look at
Chapter 12 Ryan’s point of view It seems unbelievable, totally surreal that Seb would think that my confession is a lie. That he would think my love for him is a plot to achieve his downfall. Meanwhile it was the beautiful feelings I developed for him that stirred this shit up in the first place. Perhaps if I hadn’t written a letter for my father to find, maybe- just maybe this wouldn’t be our fate at the moment. Or if I hadn’t fallen in love with my best friend. When I finally escaped my father and met with my true family, I’d thought all will be well and that I’ll be reunited with my best friend once again. However, once they learnt of my non platonic affections for him through my deranged foster father. They instantly kicked against the idea and forbade the decision. They actively fought against the sick part of me that was also in love with my best friend. They call it sick and demented, that it wasn’t right and an abomination. Mom in particular was the pin on
Chapter 32Ryan’s point of view “Yeah beat his ass! Mess the bitch up!” I heard Donna chanting. Adrenaline pumped higher into my system as I increased the force of my punch, he was now unconscious, bloody and I still had no intention of stopping. He was going to regret what he did or the games he think he can play. “That’s enough!” A familiar voice phrased with concern, forward by a touch on my shoulder that sent chills through my blazing body. I halted the punch I was going to nail on his head, and found myself getting off of him and stepping back. It was only then I realized what I’ve done or the damage I’ve caused. I looked around to see camera flashes in the air, and it wouldn’t take a genius to figure out that they’ve recorded all that recently went down. There’s no fixing for my social image and reputation now, it’s finally ruined and shattered completely. I like to think it was worth it, but I hope I’m not wrong. I hope Seb will listen to me, forgive me, and we can finall
Chapter 29 Sebastian’s point of view My parents were divorced before I was born. My father didn’t know about my existence until I was fifteen years old and beside my mother on her death bed. She was diagnosed with a stage four brain tumor that has her death inevitable, it was at that moment she chose to spare the truth and rid the lie I grew up with regarding the story of my father. She never made him the villain in my eyes, albeit that’s who he was. My mom told him he never died, and that they divorced after she caught him cheating on her the fifth time in their six months marriage. She realized he can’t changed, and she can’t spend the rest of her life with him like she intended even though she was pregnant of me at that time. She divorced him, left his home, and never told him about her pregnancy. That was how they separated, and she made sure he could never reach her again, no matter how hard he tries. She gave birth to me, took care of me, and raised me with the lie
Chapter 28Ryan’s point of view The ringing of my phone halted my chase after that creepy Xavier of a bitch. I brought out my phone to answer the call. “Hello?” I spoke into the phone. “Good afternoon. We hope we’re on the line with Mister Growan, we would like to inform him about the unfortunate accident that involved his arriving relatives…” bells rang at the heard of the information as my gaze blurred. Grandfather! My aunt! Uncle! “Huh?” My voice had gone ghost. And it seemed like the moment had taken a hit strong enough to gore my serenity. “They’re currently admitted on an emergency treatment at the city’s….” The informant’s voice trailed off my hearing into a shallow background as I broke into a dash.I was back in full speed as I stepped out of the elevator and headed straight for my car. That bastard Xavier! This is a work of his. It was him who threatened me with them minutes ago, and now they’re hospitalized. He planned their accident. How?! How did he know they
Chapter 27 Sebastian’s point of view What does this person wants from me? He didn’t state, he just dropped on my chest the proof he has to destroy all I’ve built in the snap of his fingers. It’s been three hours since I got his call and texts, he’s been silent ever since. I’ve been on the call, plus text, to trace the anonymous line till I get an identity for myself to work against. I’ve never been destroyed, and it won’t happen now. This is nothing but a sudden hiccup, one I’ll have fixed in no time. But still, there’s this slight panic in me that he could release all those footages of me online right now and there’d be nothing I’d do against me, he’d have me exposed and put my past in public. No one would try to understand me, all they’ll see is a monster, a villain, a man who doesn’t deserve their ears or understanding. I could lose all my investors, the newest ones at least, not the old ones. I could lose them all, my clients inclusive. No one would think that

Chapter 26 Ryan’s point of view Today wasn’t supposed to go like this. No, not at all. The thought was I’d wake up, go to work, get myself married in a private court, and finish the day with a visit to Seb. Now tell me why it’s not even moon yet and the day has already spiraled out from what I had in mind. Few seconds ago my secretary stormed in with worry written all over her face as she stretched her phone out to me in anxiousness. I took it, confused until I checked out the article displayed on her screen. The Headline boldly stated ‘Once Again, The Art Of Enemies To Lovers Has Proven Itself Solid.’ Sub heading also read that, ‘Billionaire CEO Sebastian Torres private desires for Billionaire Heir, Ryan McCall Growan.’ Below was attached a footage of where I had Seb caged to a car and my face was nearly smashing into his. It was an intimate scene to look at, and I don’t need to read through all the written paragraphs to derive the message conveyed in that article. “Fuck!” I
Chapter 25 Sebastian’s point of view Donna and I arrived at the office in the morning, but she had to go away with the excuse of changing her outfit. I was now left in care of my new secretary, Ryan’s sister and it looks like Donna hasn’t shared with her the rules around here. She knocked on my door and brought a coffee for me. Number one, I do not take coffees anywhere or any types so long as it’s not prepared by myself. Number two which is really very important is, unless I’m unreachable and urgently needs to be reached, you’re not allowed to knock on my door or disturb me, instead make use of the landline attached to your desk. I’m sure Donna didn’t tell her all of this because she wanted her to get on my nerves. “You’re not allowed to knock on my door unless you’ve tried to reach me through the landline provided at your desk multiple times and I was unreachable, only then should you come to my office and knock on my door. I hate disturbance,” I began to address her. “If I tak
Chapter 24 Ryan’s point of view When next I found Marcelene so we could get out of the bar, she was exactly like what she wanted to be and do. She was lighted on the stage, drunk as she twirled around to give one of the sexiest shows ever for both the male and female gazes of those present and showered her their attention. I rushed to get her down when she was done and aided her stance as we walked out of the bar, people kept applauding her and whistling at her as she leaned on me and blow out kisses. I finally got her settled in the car as well as worked the belt around her before I went to take my place behind the wheels. “Gosh tonight was so fun, I’ve never had a night like this in my life. We should do this once again,” she beamed where she was sat with joy all over her face and body. I smirked at her and zoomed our car into motion. “You got drunk and you think it’s fun?” I shook my head and laughed at her. “Who told you I’m drunk? I’m so not drunk, I just feel
