Chapter 3

Sebastian’s point of view

I was having the literal worst night. Ryan has refused to back off and leave me to my peace. He was bent on explaining himself when he was many years late already.

And I on the other hand was not having it, I swerved off any chance Ryan mounted to hold a conversation between us. This should have happened years now, not after he declared himself as my enemy, or now that I only sees him as my rival and nothing else.

All thanks to Ryan, I could neither land The Aces in a contract or strike a partnership with Xavier. This must have been his plan all along, his revenge for what I did to him at the club.

Screw with my head and mess up my night.

He probably was behind Xavier’s early esteem for alcohol, and then leech at me all night so I’d have no chance to hold a conversation with the Aces, because I was too busy avoiding him and maintaining a constant distance.

The party has finally come to end around midnight, and guests were now greeting the celebrant and leaving.

This was my last shot at what I came here for, I eyed the crowd with keen observation until I found the Aces, the elite twin looking to invest and expand their wealth. They were already at the door about to leave when I rushed after them.

I couldn’t care less about the governor, it’s not like we were deep friends or anything, we were mere acquaintances that tolerates each other. The tolerance earned me an invitation to his party.

I was near the exit when a figure crossed and blocked my path. “Finally got you!” The figure remarked, as he grounded his stance in front of me.

My blood boiled at the sight of him. Help me God.

“Leave. Me. The. Fuck. Alone!” I raced into rage as I fisted my palm and launch forth a punch directly into Ryan’s face unable to control myself any longer.

I’ve kept it intact for a while now, held it in and try to remain cool, calm and collected.

I’ve kept myself in check throughout the night, did everything to avoid him and keep our distance. Yet he wouldn’t let me be, if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be chasing after the people I should have talked with since. And somehow, he remains the reason why the chance to speak with them smoothly slipped out of my goddamn reach!

Ryan gasped as he rubbed on his jaw that I hit out of anger. He looked up and saw I’ve closed up the small space between them fiercely as I latched onto his collar and pushed him into the wall behind us.

“What is it with you huh? Left me in the wind for years only to come back and steal the one thing I’ve always dreamt of, as if that wasn’t enough, you started stealing all my investors, sabotaging my business. What the fuck?!”

“Calm down Seb, this is not good. We should talk somewhere more private!”

I was beginning to draw attention, and eyes flickered from their fixed position to focus rather at the scene near the exit, to focus on us.

I glanced around to see phones has also gone up to record more of what is happening. Murmurs broke out of the crowd present about the scene we’re causing.

There has always been a rumor, that both of us are enemies. Just that none of us ever confirmed it. The rumor is mainly about how I am jealous of Ryan’s success and picked rivalry with him out of envy, while the remaining few spoke about Ryan being a betrayal who stole something dear to me.

The world knew us as a formal best friends, but had no idea what separated us. Nobody does, all reasons or ideas were based off publicity and speculations.

“No we’re not talking! I don’t want to talk! What exactly is there to talk about after six fucking years huh? Nothing! Nothing at all! Stay away from me! Leave me alone! Or else-“ I paused to tighten the hold I had on his collar.

Fury crowned my face in a glorious blaze as I shook Ryan and slam him harder into the wall. “If you refuse to stay away from me……” he leaned in to whisper straight into his ears. “I’m promising you a devil you’ve never seen before,” I whispered the cropped part of my threat into his ear.

“What is going on here?” Governor DuPont, the celebrant who was in his late forties finally graced the scene.

Xavier also came out from behind the governor as he gasped with a wide smile at both me and Ryan. “I knew it, you both finally settled on throwing punches instead of bullets. That’s so rich, what did I miss?” His lips thinned excitedly as his gaze varied from me to Ryan.

I heaved a deep sigh as I let go of Ryan and stepped back from him. I did a little clean up on my chest as I looked back to address the attention that has forged for me.

“Run with whatever you all are gonna run with. Just know that I’m neither jealous nor envious of this bastard right here.” My index lifted to point at Ryan who was also fixing himself.

“Polish your words, fam,” Ryan growled silently in caution.

I heard him but chose to ignore and went on to address the phone flashlights pointed at my face. “He is my enemy, my rival, my bestest friend turned adversary. What I feel in place of jealousy is pure hatred, clean rage against him. Know this and know peace, and the world should also know that I’ve chosen to become his nemesis. Why? Because he’s a snake, a betrayal, and he deserves it.” My stoic expression never for once faltered as I whirled my head back to face Ryan one last time.

“I hope I polished those words well now?” My brows raised at him. “Consider this the beginning of my vengeance. If it’s the last thing I do on earth, I’ll make sure you regret betraying me.” My cold eyes brimmed with hatred, passionate and intense as I glared hard at him.

“Ouuuu, this is premium stuff. Yeah I’m glad I honored this invitation, this looks better physically than I’ll enjoy it on news,” Xavier commented and chuckled from where he stood. He’s crazy, I never knew that.

I stepped into motion and attempted to walk past Ryan when a hand grabbed my wrist and pulled me back and close, before I could get a grip of my stance, another hand slipped around my waist as a face leaned into mine to capture my opened mouth in a kiss.

Right in front of everyone, with phones held high for recording, Ryan pulled me in for a kiss after I just confirmed the rumor of us being enemies.

People went wild with gasps.

What was that for? Eww!” I couldn’t help my brimming disgust. Ryan smirked at me, a smug expression on his face while he remain muted. “You’re sick in the head.” I heaved a harsh groan as I walked out of the hall. Still repulsed by what he did. What was that for? Why would he kiss me in the front of a nosy crowd? There was a motive behind that kiss, I knew but was stuck trying to figure out what the motive was. My head pulsed with multiple questions as I got into my parked Deux Vayanne, brand new and worth millions of dollars. I adjusted myself into the seatbelt before I wheeled my baby into motion and zoomed out of the vicinity. He sped through the litted city of New York, my mind loaded and etched with the night I just

She doesn’t really know what happened between me and Ryan, but she knew more than the media. I decided to spend the night at my penthouse since it was near. I got there and went straight to the shower. My mind stilled and calm off the rustle it has been since I left the party when the cold shower slapped on my skin. This was not the future I planned for myself and Ryan or saw for us, we were suppose to be best friends forever. Why did he have to betray me? Why did he have to make us become enemies? We’re suppose to be at the top together. Because now, the only thing on my mind that I deeply craved for was now Ryan’s downfall. The end to his reign. The doom to his legacy. And I’ll be damned if I do not get that. Ryan has stolen a lot from me, and done a lot to me in return for the platonic love I gave hi

I squinted at the headline displayed in my view, it spoke about my scandalous pull from The Governor’s birthday party. Titled “The Damned Kiss”. Wait when was this? An hour or two ago and it has been published wide enough for my mom to get it. The world can be really jobless at times. “It is what it is.” I shrugged and responded, pushing through where she has me cornered as I strolled further into the mansion. Vivian, my sister was right by the stairs, a mischievous smirk on her face as I approached her. Of course. This must be her dirty work. I mean I should have predicted even, since when does mom surf the internet enough for her to know the hottest talk of the city. I got to her presence, casted a long look of shame, then shook my head and walk off. “Did he just walk out on me?

Chapter 7Sebastian’s point of view Getting through the night was as hectic as I presumed it would be when I let myself sheltered a drunk guest. Sure he was drunk before he came over, but my treat added to the mood. I’d offer him the luxury of my fridge, where he sampled into his guts my alcoholic beverages and wine. I had to tuck Xavier into one of my guest rooms later after he’s made a mess of my living room with his puke. As disgusted as it made me, I tried not to react offensively at the kiss. He was drunk and wasn’t in control of himself, besides it was just a kiss. Bleh! Though if he had kept making attempts, I sure would’ve honored the thought of throwing him out in the middle of the night. Dawn came sooner than expected, and I found myself operating on a brief hours of sleep. When I checked up on Xavier, he was still deep in his slumber while I was already dressed up to start the day. It’s 7am already, when does he wake up? I left the house with a message from me through

I gave her a knowing look as I glanced at the guards Seb had instructed to escort me outside. She sighed when she got the memo, “He can be a real pain in the ass with his stubbornness sometimes, let me just help you deal with him. I might be able to get him to his senses,”I didn’t respond to her, I just went into the elevator and when the guards tried to follow me in I gave them a cold glare that slit a pause to their motion. I can’t believe he would chase me out. Seriously how stubborn did he have to be? For me to sneak into your office just so I can talk and explain things to you, shouldn’t that tell him how genuine I was? Instead he chose to believe I was there to manipulate him. I scoffed out aloud, manipulate him for what? Why would I come to lie to him now? What could

She already tried barging in, and was sent outside with the threat that I might stop joking around with the thought of sacking her and act on it if she doesn’t leave me alone. Barely a second later, my door pushed open without my permission. Annoyance flayed over my face as I trailed gaze up at the entrance to see it was Donna, “You better be ready to talk,” I chided. She stepped aside for someone she was with to come inside, the person being Xavier. Oh, so he’s here. Must be why Donna kept bugging me with beeps. “Mister Xavier, I-““Thought we were past the formalities now? Or did I not woke up in your house?” He cut into my sentence. Chapter 10Ryan’s point of view I was already late when I arrived at NT’s venue for the interview they’ve scheduled with me to air on their channel. There was no time to prep for the show so I was instantly ushered into the shooting room as soon as I came in. I was told to wait for the host to announce my arrival and invite me to stage. It was then I looked over to the stage, and shot a small smirk at who I found seated already with the said host. I waved and beckoned at the manager who was close to me, “Wasn’t I told this would be a solo interview?” I queried when he got close enough. “Well yeah, but we made a last minute decision to sit you both to get a wider audience. Both your supporters and his would be tuning in to hear what you both have to say.” The wired intercom he has plugged in his ear beeped as he pressed on it. “Hey, yeah he’s ready.” He looked up at me, “You’re going in,” he told me and then quickly walked away and towards his crew. Courtesy of his sudden confession, words that influenced my current state of awestruck. What does he mean by that?…. ‘Seb I was in love with you. I was and still am…’ the words replay over and over again in my head, in a blissful echo that sounded peaceful rather than dangerous. He closed the small gap that separated us, then made to cup my cheek when I ducked out of his reach and step away from him to the right side of the elevator wall. His brows creased in haze. I scoffed. I know this wasn’t the reaction he expected from me after my little showcase at his confession. However, who does he think he’s dealing with? A ten year old who’s never been out in the world? Cause that’s the kind of person he can trick successfully and fool with his words. “You really expect me to melt at the heard of that didn’t you?” I asked, as another scoff fell through. “Gosh look at

He was going to regret what he did or the games he think he can play. “That’s enough!” A familiar voice phrased with concern, forward by a touch on my shoulder that sent chills through my blazing body. The thought was I’d wake up, go to work, get myself married in a private court, and finish the day with a visit to Seb. Now tell me why it’s not even moon yet and the day has already spiraled out from what I had in mind. Few seconds ago my secretary stormed in with worry written all over her face as she stretched her phone out to me in anxiousness. I took it, confused until I checked out the article displayed on her screen. The Headline boldly stated ‘Once Again, The Art Of Enemies To Lovers Has Proven Itself Solid.’ Sub heading also read that, ‘Billionaire CEO Sebastian Torres private desires for Billionaire Heir, Ryan McCall Growan.’ Below was attached a footage of where I had Seb caged to a car and my face was nearly smashing into his. I was now left in care of my new secretary, Ryan’s sister and it looks like Donna hasn’t shared with her the rules around here. She knocked on my door and brought a coffee for me. Number one, I do not take coffees anywhere or any types so long as it’s not prepared by myself. Number two which is really very important is, unless I’m unreachable and urgently needs to be reached, you’re not allowed to knock on my door or disturb me, instead make use of the landline attached to your desk. I’m sure Donna didn’t tell her all of this because she wanted her to get on my nerves. “You’re not allowed to knock on my door unless you’ve tried to reach me through the landline provided at your desk multiple times and I was unreachable, only then should you come to my office and knock on my door. I hate disturbance,” I began to address her. “If I tak

I rushed to get her down when she was done and aided her stance as we walked out of the bar, people kept applauding her and whistling at her as she leaned on me and blow out kisses. I finally got her settled in the car as well as worked the belt around her before I went to take my place behind the wheels. “Gosh tonight was so fun, I’ve never had a night like this in my life. We should do this once again,” she beamed where she was sat with joy all over her face and body. I smirked at her and zoomed our car into motion. “You got drunk and you think it’s fun?” I shook my head and laughed at her. “Who told you I’m drunk? I’m so not drunk, I just feel
