He was blatantly mocking her. Amanda felt humiliated, but she had to convince Keith!
“I… I will never appear in front of you again. Just please, spare my Daddy. He didn’t do anything wrong.” Amanda pleaded till her voice became hoarse, but the stone like man did not bulge.
“Didn’t do anything wrong? You are not only useless but also illiterate.” Kieth spat viciously, making Amanda shudder again.
“Go away. Don’t dirty my eyes.” Kieth annoyingly furrowed his eyebrows. Plain disgust flashed in his eyes.
But Amanda, instead of leaving, came down on her knees and started pleading urgently.
“For the sake of your dead father, please, please don’t do this. He was a friend of my father! I beg of you, please…” Amanda threw the socialite image and ego out of the window and begged him relentlessly.
But Kieth simply kicked her dirty hands away. Pure rage appeared in his eyes, making Amanda fall on her back. He looked at her as if she had committed a grave crime.
“Security.” Kieth only said one word and the guards dragged the bawling girl outside. The entire staff saw Amanda being dragged and thrown out. But they remained quiet. Because if anything leaked, it would be them being dragged out.
Kieth quickly went to the bathroom and took a shower, continuously rubbing his legs red. He hated it when her hands touched him. He felt dirty. He had to wash himself clean for Amelia.
In the coming days, the headlines changed every day.
On day 1: Amelia Scott declares that she was never engaged to Kieth Williams. It was all a prank. Was Kieth tricked? Did the Scott family try to ride on the coattails of the Williams’ Empire?
On day 2: Carcinogenic elements found in Scott’s food products. Harmful substances detected in Scott’s baby food.
On day 3: Top leaders of the Scott family sued for fraud.
On day 4: Bank seals the Scott property. They defaulted on loans.
On day 5: Scott family declares bankruptcy.
On day 6: Breaking News! Williams to take over the Scott’s business. The entire management will undergo a rigorous change!
Keith was precise with his attacks. He did not give any escape route to the Scotts. He sent the reports of Mr. Scott’s infidelity to Mrs. Scott.
Mrs. Scott’s secret of raising a few male pets was shared with Mr. Scott.
Scott family lost it all. He ruined their personal as well as professional lives. From noble socialists, they became beggars in just one week. Their stock prices dropped. And whatever goodwill they had, vanished in thin air.
Kieth saw everything with cold eyes. He had pulled a lot of strings in the last month. He bought the Scott family’s shares, became a major shareholder, dug out the buried secrets, and then, played his cards.
He thought that exacting an act of revenge on the troublemakers could make him happy. But no, he was so wrong. Despite trampling the troublemakers, despite witnessing the fall of his enemy, he did not feel a shred of happiness.
All he felt, was a void!
This past month, he had changed girls like clothes. But none of them could satisfy him. Instead, whenever they tried to seduce or touch him, he would feel like retching!
With every passing day, only one name lingered in his mind: Amelia.
So, he sped up his revenge. He blew it up big so that every person in the world would know of it. And hoped that Amelia would come back after seeing it, after knowing that he never promised to get engaged to Amanda, that he never betrayed her.
But all that waited for him was nothing but despair.
….
Another man was drowning in despair. It was Steven. With a report in hand, he had spent three hours creating it. He should have felt happy, but he didn’t because more reports awaited him.
Amelia wasn’t heartless. After playing enough, she came and broke the lock, rescuing the trapped man from the piles of papers. Lending a hand, she generously helped in the preparation of the excursion report, while Steven worked on the budget file.
Another three hours passed in a flash. Finally, the urgent reports were dealt with. They both put the completed reports aside and blankly stared at the pile of reports in the ‘completed’ section.
Even both of them together could not process the number of files Liam had dealt with alone in the past months. No wonder he looked like a ghost at the breakfast table. Because he had worked himself to death!
Both Amelia and Steven looked at each other with the same thought. They must make it up to him. Otherwise, what would they do if Liam resigned?
Cold sweat drenched their backs at the thought of surviving without Liam. They couldn’t even imagine it. It would be akin to a nightmare!
After an intensive usage of the brain, both of them felt absolutely drained. Especially, Amelia. This morning, when she woke up, she vomited her guts out. Then, she was too hungry. And now, after working so much, she felt dizzy.
She thought that it was all because of working without any rest. She didn’t pay any heed to it. But there was one thing that was troubling her, Zenia was exceptionally quiet.
Amelia had tried to call out Zenia, but the she wolf never responded. There were moments when she wanted to let her out to have a nice stroll, but even then, Zenia remained quiet.Amelia could only think of one thing: Zenia was heartbroken! It would be better to let her be.Amelia went to the dining area and wolfed down the food. Their clan had a common kitchen which was open to everyone and anybody. A lot of people had kitchens in their homes as well, but to them, cooking was too tedious. Also, the chefs of the common kitchen were awesome! And it served food any time of the day, be it midnight or early morning!Amelia filled our plate to the brim. She had a wolfish appetite, but as soon as she ate one piece, she felt like puking! Her eyes widened in alarm and she ran to the nearby bathroom. She vomited out whatever she had eaten in the morning. Leaning weekly against the door, she looked at herself in the mirror. Her eyes had pools of mist and she looked pale. She wanted to call out
They ate and dispersed. Steven went to have a regular check up. He still had traces of the poison in his body which needed to be treated.Amelia wanted to run off to the training grounds, but a wave of sleepiness overcame her. So, she went back to her sweet bed and slept peacefully.Zenia, who was wide awake, wanted to say something to Amelia.“Amelia, we…us…” Zenia’s voice trembled as if she was trying to suppress something. But Amelia who was dead asleep didn’t know anything. She slept till dinner time, woke up in a daze, ate, and then went back to sleep again. She felt extremely exhausted. Looks like the paperwork was injurious to her health. The next day was the Elder’s Council Meeting. The Alphas, Beta, and Gamma attended the meeting along with the elders.“We have gathered today, to discuss two crucial matters. First, is the Midnight Pack. Our Beta has skillfully intercepted their communication. We have found their location.” The Elder spoke solemnly. Listening to this, pure
An eerie silence covered the gathering. The Elders were shocked. Steven had a contemplative glance, and Liam had complex emotions. The Elders were shocked to the bone because Amelia was a female Alpha! Female Alphas are strong and have lesser chances of becoming pregnant. And Amelia was one of the strongest of the female Alphas, her chances of becoming pregnant were almost nonexistent! Then, how? How could she get pregnant? Did she find somebody stronger than her? But so far, only Steven could be considered at par with her, the rest were just trash in front of her strength! Where did she find such a formidable partner? Most importantly, who was he? Steven wasn’t as clueless as the Elders. He knew the real reason behind Amelia’s stay in the human city. She had told him of finding her mate. But wasn’t her mate a human? How could a mere human be strong enough to impregnate a ferocious female Alpha? Since when did humans become stronger than the Alphas? Liam was feeling partly relieve
In the evening, Steven came to her room with a plate full of dishes. Amelia hadn’t moved much since the moment she received the news of her pregnancy. Both brother and sister, ate mouthfuls of food silently. Steven didn’t show much happiness, but the way he looked at Amelia had changed. "Have you wondered why a human could impregnate you?" Steven asked cautiously. "Nothing happens without the Moon Goddess's wish. So, I take the cub as compensation for getting such a weak and unfaithful mate." Amelia voiced out her real thoughts unhesitatingly. She was more concerned about the cub than why or how she conceived it. "Good." Steve nodded appreciatively. It was good that his darling sister's mind wasn't fogged because of the cub. It was a relief that she wasn't clamoring to leave the pack and find that human mate. It was even better that she hadn't forgiven the mate for the sake of a family. She was still his powerful and pragmatic sister. Maybe she was right. The cub was a co
“I, Steven Lockhart, as the sole successor to the position of the Leader of the Silver Crescent Pack, challenge anyone for a duel who wants to contend for the position of the Leader.” As soon as Steven spoke, the murmur died down. A sudden quietness descended the ground. This was new to the pack. Every pack had only one Alpha who was decided by birth. But in their pack, they had two.But since Amelia had given up her rights, it left them with Steven. All of them had seen how ruthless and ferocious this pair of siblings were. Since they were young, they had fought packs and rogues to protect their territory. No matter how lucrative the position of a Leader is, only a fool would challenge them. So, unsurprisingly, Steven was chosen and accepted as a Leader.“With no one as a challenger, I, Steven Lockhart, take upon me the role of the Leader of the Silver Crescent Pack. I will remain loyal to the pack. This pack will always be my family. Let us strive and survive together to make our
The clansmen went back to their work. The patrolling officers took it upon themselves to dispose of the traitor’s body hanging by a breath. The Elders, Alphas, Beta, and Gamma went back to the confines of their meeting room.Unlike earlier, when under the direction of Elder Arthur, they clamored to evict Amelia this time, a pin drop silence reigned supreme.“Elders, in your eyes, am I worthy of the position of the Leader of the pack?” Steven spoke unhurriedly. His lowered eyes hid the calculations going on inside his mind.“Yes, yes.” Many Elders affirmatively supported him. Whether their nods were out of fear or respect, Steven didn’t mind. “So, a person who is my benefactor should be treated well, right?” Steven slowly unfurled his traps.“Yes, yes, indeed.” Elders nodded without any doubts. All of them agreed that a person who was their Leader’s benefactor should be treated with kindness!“So, what do you think should I do if someone harms the offspring of my benefactor?” Steven l
“Kieth, the fact that you are still awake and alive is nothing short of a miracle! How are you doing it?” Dr. Morgan, Kieth’s personal doctor and a dear friend, had a helpless expression. “Give me some sleeping pills,” Kieth spoke in a deadpan voice. “No Kieth. Frankly, you need a psychologist. Stop torturing yourself like this! It’s been a month, for God’s sake!” Dr. Morgan tried his utmost to convince the stubborn man. “All I need is some sleeping pills.” Kieth remained unmoved. “You bury yourself with work, tire yourself out both physically and mentally, and yet you need sleeping pills to fall asleep, don’t you find it strange? Have you seen yourself in the mirror lately?” Dr. Morgan continued his monologue without any response. “You look like a ghost! Your skin is pale, and your eyes are bloody red! Have some mercy and go on a vacation!” Dr. Morgan looked like he could go on his knees to convince the man anytime! “Are you giving me the pills or not?” Kieth asked in a non ne
In the silver moonlight, the Silver Crescent Moon Pack warriors stealthily marched toward the oblivious Midnight Pack.As decided, Steven faced the enemy pack head on, taking them by surprise. Howls, screams, and chaos broke within seconds. The Midnight Pack warriors defended and children ran to safehouses.Unlike the Silver Crescent Pack, where every member wanted to be a part of the attack, here, in the Midnight Pack, the majority of the people focused on running away, leaving a pitifully small number of warriors to defend their territory. The east, west, north, and south teams attacked ferociously, without giving any warrior a chance to retaliate. Blood painted the ground striking red. Howls pierced the skies. The Midnight Pack warriors were outnumbered. No matter how valiant they were, they couldn’t keep up with the heavy numbers of the attackers. On top of that, this attack had a batch of young wolves. They might not be exper
Before Amelia could register anything, Kieth broke free from her grip and bent down in pain. Guttural groans croaked out of his throat. He bit his lips hard to stop the scream threatening to break free.Sweat covered his forehead. Sickly pallor colored his face and all the blood rushed to his eyes, making them blood red. His legs buckled and his hands trembled.Amelia saw it with panic, pain, and anxiety. She too, followed his footsteps and kneeled, reholding his hands in a tighter grip. The moment she touched his hands, the unbearable pain assaulted her senses. It was Kieth’s pain. Thanks to Mate Mark, she could share his pain. Everything was happening very fast. She did not have time to think. It was her instinctive reaction.Moments before, she was dissatisfied with the forced Mate Mark, but now, she thanked her stars! She quickly held him tightly and shared his agony. Kieth’s legs trembled and he kneeled on the ground, making it easier for
Under the moonless night, the silence and darkness covered them from head to toe. Amelia waited and waited but received no response from the other side.It wasn’t exactly easy for her either. She wasn’t one to drag things. She wanted a clean cut instead of this mess of a relationship.“Amelia, did you get me wrong? Do you think you can leave me twice, and I will watch it happen?” Kieth’s slow and rough voice hit Amelia unhurriedly. Her eyes started twitching. She could feel that something was wrong. Kieth had begun leaking his Alpha pressure. Was it intentional or not she didn’t know.Kieth started taking leisurely steps toward her. His eyes never left her, even for a second. She unwittingly took a step back, wanting to create some distance between them. But much to her disappointment, the Alpha pressure increased and made her halt. She looked at Kieth in alarm and surprise. This Alpha pressure…it was like a rope around her waist, with its ot
‘On a vacation. Don’t bother me. Switch to Plan B.’ Under it was his powerful and flawless signature. Steven pursed his lips as he took the paper. He didn’t know who leaked this information! Even Amelia didn’t know that he planned to look into Kieth’s background once again! There were three main points worth investigating. First, how did Kieth end up in the human realm? Second, what exactly was the training Kieth had to undergo in order to become the heir of the Williams’ Empire and third, what happened to his engagement?“What’s Plan B?” Steven couldn’t hide his curiosity.“Details on how to run the company and who will manage what if I am not there.” Kieth lowered his eyes and focused on the Art of Duel.“But why would you prepare something like that in advance?” Steven put the paper inside an envelope as he asked.“My doctor once told me that I couldn’t live past this month. So, Plan B was a contingency plan.” Kieth turned th
What? Was that even possible? Steven did not know how to react! All his admiration and hope had turned to shock! He had seen people struggling to change into a wolf, but he had never seen a wolf struggling to change into a human! This was unforeseen!‘Um, Amelia, we have a minor situation here.’ Steven haphazardly mind linked Amelia.Damn! As Amelia heard his distress call, she felt annoyed. She still has not figured out what to do with Kieth. She walked to the training grounds and saw a black wolf and a surprised Steven at a glance.“He cannot change back!” Steven pointed to the black wolf and could not mask his astonishment.Amelia stopped in her tracks and mechanically looked at the black wolf, who stood there at a loss. She could not hide her smile at the situation.Unlike the stoic and expressionless Kieth, this black wolf was more vivid. She could see the annoyance, irritation, frustration, an
Amelia’s smile disappeared while Kieth became shocked at his sudden words.“We can’t.”“Forget it.”Both Amelia and Keith spoke at the same time, making them stunned again.Meanwhile, the cub yawned and released a satisfied purr, successfully disturbing the awkward silence between his parents.Amelia quickly took the cub from his arms and busied herself in putting him in the cradle.Kieth felt aggrieved. He knew what he spoke was just in the spur of a moment. He also knew that it was the most unromantic confession, but that didn’t mean that Amelia’s sudden denial didn’t hurt him!‘Why?’ Unable to take his mind off the straight rejection, Kieth asked Amelia through the mind link. The sudden voice in her head made Amelia stop for a second and then she resumed covering the cub with the blanket.‘Because I am an Alpha, the rituals are complicated. Also, one can only get married on a full moon night. It’s almost a fortnight a
Shit! He knew everything! No wonder he was so calm! Because he had already understood the situation from listening to the thoughts of everyone.Thinking back at their collective mind link and unbridled words, Amelia felt dazed. No wonder he claimed that he had his own way of knowing the truth! Damn!“Still acting dumb? Don’t have anything to share?” Kieth tried his best to remain calm, but his eyes had already betrayed him.Alarm bells started going off in Amelia’s head. Her survival instinct kicked in.“No. I don’t have anything to tell!” Amelia hurriedly spoke. An icy layer coated Kieth’s eyes. Amelia could feel the Alpha pressure leaking from him. Before he could burst or snap, she quickly held his hand and smiled brightly.Taken aback, Kieth froze for a moment. Her bright smile was blinding. How long had it been since he saw her genuine smile? She expertly grabbed his attention and when he looked dazed, Amelia took th
“4 went out with the stepbrother and we killed the rest,” Kieth added calmly.“Wait, were they supposed to come back? I mean your stepbrother and the other 4 mercenaries?” Steven asked hurriedly.“I do not know. The mercenaries barely talked and the stepbrother was always busy.” Keith thought deeply and responded.“Busy with what?” Amelia narrowed her eyes and asked.“I do not know, I was usually very sleepy back then.” Kieth shrugged his shoulders.“What exactly did they do to you?” Amelia didn’t notice the anxiety and panic painting her voice.“Nothing much, he just took my blood. As for what purpose, he never revealed.” Kieth waved his hands and said casually.Amelia and Steven stiffened. Damn! Was the Murphy’s Law at work? Why did everything they feared start becoming a reality?“Why don't you trust your stepbrother?” Liam, who had been quietly observing everything, asked abruptly.“Who said I do not trust him?” Kiet
“And what do you think?” Amelia boldly faced him.She was not panicking. She had killed plenty of people, directly and indirectly. But she was sure of one thing. Whoever she had killed, surely deserved it.So, Kieth telling her that she might have killed his father only cemented the fact that his father was a bad person. She was more interested in knowing what Kieth thought. Would he blame her? Would he avenge his father?Kieth remained quiet. Calmly taking in her expressions. She had no guilt, panic, surprise, or shock in her eyes.Unlike both of them, the others were not so calm.‘What did he just say? We killed his father? Who in the world was his father?’ Steven spat in the collective mind link.‘He said he met his stepbrother. Shouldn’t that be our lead?’ Theo’s mind was turning fast. Having a stepbrother can make things easier. Why don’t they simply catch and grab this unnamed stepbrother and ask him strai
The temperature rose suddenly. Slick sweat coated their bodies. Amelia knew this was not the time, yet she could not pull herself away from his embrace.Passion glazed their eyes and movements. He was too hard, and she was too wet. Things moved in a certain direction. Both of them had no shred of restraint or intention of stopping.“Alpha Amelia, the cub needs to be fed.”A sudden voice broke in like a ray of clarity. Somebody mind linked Amelia, interrupting their rendevous. As if a pause button clicked, Amelia became still.Kieth soon became aware of the changes and looked at her with dazzled and confused eyes. Amelia looked at the mess of a situation, and only one word roamed in her mind: Damn! She patted his chain like hand and he loosened his grip. Streaks of rationality started coloring her vision. She involuntarily pressed her breasts and noticed the fullness. She was about to leak! She hurrie
