Chapter 6 Liam

“Morning Amelia! You look good.” Steven greeted Amelia. Both of them were heading to the dining area to calm down their growling hunger.

“Ah! Morning! Nothing works better than a blood bath, I guess?” She cheekily responded.

When they appeared, the clansmen, stood up and bowed respectively. Though the leaders were young, none of the members dared to cross them. After all, they have seen with their own eyes how ruthless and ferocious they were.

“Settle down.” Steven gestured while Amelia simply nodded. Neither of them got fazed with such respect because they knew they deserved it!

They mounted hills of whatever was available to eat and sat down at the reserved center. Both of them were starving! They hadn’t eaten anything last night!

While they were eating, another man joined them. He was tall, masculine, and handsome. His tired eyes and messy hair added a decadent beauty to his perfectly crafted features.

Unlike the Alphas, who had iconic black iris and silver sclera, this man had ordinary light brown eyes. He could sit next to the Alphas because he was Liam, the Beta of the Silver Crescent Pack.

“I didn’t see you last night, where were you?” Steven asked curiously.

“Where else could he be?” Amelia munched on her food as she spoke knowingly.

Liam, who was being asked, paid no attention to them and only focused on eating. His action might appear rude. But Amelia and Steven ignored it because they had a guilty conscience.

“Looks like someone’s angry.” Steven mind linked Amelia. She looked at Steven and both of them had the same thought in their minds.

They wolfed down their food. Once done, they went and paid a visit to the Elder Council members. Liam trailed them quietly. Since arrival, he hadn’t spoken a word.

They greeted the Council members one by one. This was the think tank of their former Alpha. But now, a lot of the members were old and foggy.

They did not have any power to make decisions, but they helped in sorting out minor disputes among the clansmen.

Other than that, they also had the power to punish the tameless Alphas. When both the Alphas were young and parentless, it was the council members who raised and taught them. So, they were parent figures to the entire clan, capable of rewarding and punishing them.

Finally done with the greetings, Amelia ran off nimbly. She was off to the training grounds in the name of supervising the training. But everyone knew that she just wanted to challenge the new batch of trainees.

Steven who was left alone with Liam looked at him with a slight awkwardness.

“Ah! I don’t feel so well. I will go and have a full body check up now.” Steven was about to slip when a hand held him in a death grip.

“You had one when you arrived,” Liam spoke hoarsely. His voice was a mix of sexy and dangerous.

“Heh,” Steven gave a nervous laugh and lowered his eyes. He did not want to look at Liam at all.

Liam who was trying to restrain the anger, dragged Steven ruthlessly in a particular direction.

“No, no wait! I really am not well yet. I need to go to the infirmary!” Steven howled in the empty corridors irrespective of his stature and image, but Liam’s grip never loosened.

He dragged Steven and threw him inside a room. Before Steven could take a step, Liam closed the door with a bang. As if it wasn’t enough, he locked it from the outside.

And then, as if nothing happened, he left the place. He went straight to his bed chambers and slept like a log.

Steven, locked in, turned around and pursed his lips in despair. In front of him was a workstation filled with piles of papers and files. He mind linked Amelia for help, but she did not even bother to respond! She was busy beating the trainees.

Steven twitched his lips and resigned to his fate. One thing he hated about being the Alpha was the paperwork! Lots and lots of paperwork! Every attack had to be reported. Every expense was calculated. Every excursion had to be detailed.

Steven sighed and sat on the hot seat, brainwashing himself to write a report on the current attack.

…..

Another man was engrossed in paperwork. It was Kieth Williams. He was busy reading the progress report when a call interrupted him.

“Sir, Amanda Scott has been sitting for four hours. She refuses to leave without meeting you.” The private secretary informed him.

Kieth remained silent for a few minutes, then slowly said, “Send her in.”

Every media channel was busy reporting the fairytale love story of Kieth Williams and Amanda Scott. Engaged since birth, childhood sweethearts, match of equals, a match made in Heaven, Blessed Amanda; Lucky Kieth: headlines were filled with pink bubbles.

But inside a conference room where the real Kieth and Amanda sat, tension with the smell of gunpowder lingered in the air.

Amanda was smitten since the day she had seen Kieth.

So, when he broke off their destined engagement, it gave Amanda the shock of her life. And with it came the courage, courage to tell the media houses that they were engaged and would be getting married soon.

She thought she would somehow make him hers, but she didn’t know, Keith wasn’t her Prince Charming, but a heartless Devil!

“I gave you enough shares to annul the engagement, was it not enough? Did I wrong you?” Keith asked stoicly.

“No! No! Enough! It is enough! I shouldn’t have clung to you. I am sorry! I am sorry!”

“You know there’s no point clinging to me. Then why come to me?” Kieth spoke slowly.

“It was my fault! Daddy didn’t know at all! Please don’t do this to us. I will go and tell the media of our break up immediately.” Amanda Scott, the blessed girl, was crying frantically at the moment.

“Will that fix everything?” Kieth looked at Amanda with a flicker of hope.

“Yes, yes. It will fix everything. Everything will be like it used to be. I will try everything to fix it.” Amanda nodded fervently.

“Huh! How naïve!” A sarcastic laugh escaped Kieth’s sexy lips.

“No matter what you do, you will never be able to compensate for my loss!” A mocking smirk appeared on Kieth’s blank face.
