Amelia had tried to call out Zenia, but the she wolf never responded. There were moments when she wanted to let her out to have a nice stroll, but even then, Zenia remained quiet.
Amelia could only think of one thing: Zenia was heartbroken! It would be better to let her be.
Amelia went to the dining area and wolfed down the food. Their clan had a common kitchen which was open to everyone and anybody.
A lot of people had kitchens in their homes as well, but to them, cooking was too tedious. Also, the chefs of the common kitchen were awesome! And it served food any time of the day, be it midnight or early morning!
Amelia filled our plate to the brim. She had a wolfish appetite, but as soon as she ate one piece, she felt like puking!
Her eyes widened in alarm and she ran to the nearby bathroom. She vomited out whatever she had eaten in the morning. Leaning weekly against the door, she looked at herself in the mirror.
Her eyes had pools of mist and she looked pale. She wanted to call out for Zenia, but before that, she heard a soft knock.
“Amelia? Is everything alright?” Liam’s careridden voice warmed her up. Out of everyone, the people who genuinely cared for her could be counted with one hand. And Liam was one of them.
“I am fine,” Amelia spoke from behind the closed door. She knew that she looked weak. So, she decided to use this Goddess sent opportunity to her benefit!
Soft knocks continued till she opened the door.
“I just helped my brother in writing some reports and I am half dead already! I cannot do this Liam, in the future, you have to help me!” Amelia looked at Liam with hope and desperation.
Liam saw through her trick within a glance but he still lowered his eyes and acquiesced.
A slight slime appeared on Amelia’s face. Ah! She was saved! She wouldn’t have to go back to that workroom again!
Her appetite improved with her good mood. She went back to the lonely plate filled with food and started munching. Liam too, came back with his own plate and sat next to her.
“When did you become picky?” Liam stole a slanted glance. She was only eating meat. All the accompanying vegetables were ignored.
“Don’t know. I am craving meat.” Amelia nonchalantly answered as she focused on licking the bones clean.
“Don’t waste. Give it to me. I am starving and can eat anything!” Steven’s depressed voice disturbed their peaceful environment. He sat down, transferred the discarded veggies to his plate, and started eating.
Both Amelia and Liam ignored him. A few minutes later, Amelia took her empty plate and went in to have more dishes.
“She is eating twice her usual amount,” Liam spoke thoughtfully.
“Are you also thinking of the same thing?” Steven looked at Liam with a flash of understanding.
Liam stared at him stoically.
“Ah! She is planning on having indigestion so she doesn’t have to write any more reports!” Steven spat certainly.
“How wicked!” Steven couldn’t believe that Amelia hated paperwork so much!
Liam pursed his lips while looking at the clueless brother. He sighed and dug into his food. He was afraid that talking to Steven could lower his IQ as well, which is why, he remained quiet for the entire duration.
A person sat next to Liam, at first he thought that Amelia was back, but when he turned around, he found a smaller person.
“Zion! You have grown up so much in a few months?” Steven happily greeted the newcomer.
“Hmm. Glad to see you back.” Zion politely responded and focused on eating. He was just like Liam. He spoke less and was clever and efficient. Perhaps the only difference between the father and son was, that Zion was too cute! Also, unlike Liam, Zion's iris was black, just like his birth mother.
Zion looked like a doll. His black iris was in stark contrast with his snow white skin. Whosoever saw him, couldn’t resist touching his cheeks!
“You acted well back then during the fight.” Amelia was back with another mount of meat dishes on her plate.
“Thank you. You were great as well.” Zion responded obediently.
Liam didn’t say anything but he noticed that when Amelia arrived, Zion’s back straightened and he became rigid. Liam sighed in his heart. Zion was good in every possible way. But he was too smart. He guessed what the elders were planning.
He stole a glance at Amelia. He had complex feelings. For the last few months, when the Alphas were not around, the Elder council members did what elders liked to do the most- fixing marriages!
The Elders wanted Amelia to get married to Liam. They had their reasons. First, Amelia was a female Alpha. It was hard for her to have cubs.
Only someone stronger than her could impregnate her. And finding someone stronger than her was like looking for the Moon Goddess herself! Liam, whose mate died during childbirth, had a ready made cub. Amelia could have a family if she married Liam.
Second, in their pack, only Liam could handle Amelia. So, he became the backup mate for Amelia, if she failed to find her mate this year.
“When is the Elder’s council meeting?” Steven asked while eating.
“Tomorrow.” Liam calmly responded.
It was in tomorrow’s meeting that they would talk of the marriage.
They ate and dispersed. Steven went to have a regular check up. He still had traces of the poison in his body which needed to be treated.Amelia wanted to run off to the training grounds, but a wave of sleepiness overcame her. So, she went back to her sweet bed and slept peacefully.Zenia, who was wide awake, wanted to say something to Amelia.“Amelia, we…us…” Zenia’s voice trembled as if she was trying to suppress something. But Amelia who was dead asleep didn’t know anything. She slept till dinner time, woke up in a daze, ate, and then went back to sleep again. She felt extremely exhausted. Looks like the paperwork was injurious to her health. The next day was the Elder’s Council Meeting. The Alphas, Beta, and Gamma attended the meeting along with the elders.“We have gathered today, to discuss two crucial matters. First, is the Midnight Pack. Our Beta has skillfully intercepted their communication. We have found their location.” The Elder spoke solemnly. Listening to this, pure
An eerie silence covered the gathering. The Elders were shocked. Steven had a contemplative glance, and Liam had complex emotions. The Elders were shocked to the bone because Amelia was a female Alpha! Female Alphas are strong and have lesser chances of becoming pregnant. And Amelia was one of the strongest of the female Alphas, her chances of becoming pregnant were almost nonexistent! Then, how? How could she get pregnant? Did she find somebody stronger than her? But so far, only Steven could be considered at par with her, the rest were just trash in front of her strength! Where did she find such a formidable partner? Most importantly, who was he? Steven wasn’t as clueless as the Elders. He knew the real reason behind Amelia’s stay in the human city. She had told him of finding her mate. But wasn’t her mate a human? How could a mere human be strong enough to impregnate a ferocious female Alpha? Since when did humans become stronger than the Alphas? Liam was feeling partly relieve
In the evening, Steven came to her room with a plate full of dishes. Amelia hadn’t moved much since the moment she received the news of her pregnancy. Both brother and sister, ate mouthfuls of food silently. Steven didn’t show much happiness, but the way he looked at Amelia had changed. "Have you wondered why a human could impregnate you?" Steven asked cautiously. "Nothing happens without the Moon Goddess's wish. So, I take the cub as compensation for getting such a weak and unfaithful mate." Amelia voiced out her real thoughts unhesitatingly. She was more concerned about the cub than why or how she conceived it. "Good." Steve nodded appreciatively. It was good that his darling sister's mind wasn't fogged because of the cub. It was a relief that she wasn't clamoring to leave the pack and find that human mate. It was even better that she hadn't forgiven the mate for the sake of a family. She was still his powerful and pragmatic sister. Maybe she was right. The cub was a co
“I, Steven Lockhart, as the sole successor to the position of the Leader of the Silver Crescent Pack, challenge anyone for a duel who wants to contend for the position of the Leader.” As soon as Steven spoke, the murmur died down. A sudden quietness descended the ground. This was new to the pack. Every pack had only one Alpha who was decided by birth. But in their pack, they had two.But since Amelia had given up her rights, it left them with Steven. All of them had seen how ruthless and ferocious this pair of siblings were. Since they were young, they had fought packs and rogues to protect their territory. No matter how lucrative the position of a Leader is, only a fool would challenge them. So, unsurprisingly, Steven was chosen and accepted as a Leader.“With no one as a challenger, I, Steven Lockhart, take upon me the role of the Leader of the Silver Crescent Pack. I will remain loyal to the pack. This pack will always be my family. Let us strive and survive together to make our
The clansmen went back to their work. The patrolling officers took it upon themselves to dispose of the traitor’s body hanging by a breath. The Elders, Alphas, Beta, and Gamma went back to the confines of their meeting room.Unlike earlier, when under the direction of Elder Arthur, they clamored to evict Amelia this time, a pin drop silence reigned supreme.“Elders, in your eyes, am I worthy of the position of the Leader of the pack?” Steven spoke unhurriedly. His lowered eyes hid the calculations going on inside his mind.“Yes, yes.” Many Elders affirmatively supported him. Whether their nods were out of fear or respect, Steven didn’t mind. “So, a person who is my benefactor should be treated well, right?” Steven slowly unfurled his traps.“Yes, yes, indeed.” Elders nodded without any doubts. All of them agreed that a person who was their Leader’s benefactor should be treated with kindness!“So, what do you think should I do if someone harms the offspring of my benefactor?” Steven l
“Kieth, the fact that you are still awake and alive is nothing short of a miracle! How are you doing it?” Dr. Morgan, Kieth’s personal doctor and a dear friend, had a helpless expression. “Give me some sleeping pills,” Kieth spoke in a deadpan voice. “No Kieth. Frankly, you need a psychologist. Stop torturing yourself like this! It’s been a month, for God’s sake!” Dr. Morgan tried his utmost to convince the stubborn man. “All I need is some sleeping pills.” Kieth remained unmoved. “You bury yourself with work, tire yourself out both physically and mentally, and yet you need sleeping pills to fall asleep, don’t you find it strange? Have you seen yourself in the mirror lately?” Dr. Morgan continued his monologue without any response. “You look like a ghost! Your skin is pale, and your eyes are bloody red! Have some mercy and go on a vacation!” Dr. Morgan looked like he could go on his knees to convince the man anytime! “Are you giving me the pills or not?” Kieth asked in a non ne
In the silver moonlight, the Silver Crescent Moon Pack warriors stealthily marched toward the oblivious Midnight Pack.As decided, Steven faced the enemy pack head on, taking them by surprise. Howls, screams, and chaos broke within seconds. The Midnight Pack warriors defended and children ran to safehouses.Unlike the Silver Crescent Pack, where every member wanted to be a part of the attack, here, in the Midnight Pack, the majority of the people focused on running away, leaving a pitifully small number of warriors to defend their territory. The east, west, north, and south teams attacked ferociously, without giving any warrior a chance to retaliate. Blood painted the ground striking red. Howls pierced the skies. The Midnight Pack warriors were outnumbered. No matter how valiant they were, they couldn’t keep up with the heavy numbers of the attackers. On top of that, this attack had a batch of young wolves. They might not be exper
Steven turned around and as expected Amelia was there. In fact, she had already broken Steven’s estimated record of staying away from the attack. He was expecting her during the fiercest moments with an excuse of lending a helping hand. But she only appeared now and she wasn’t alone. She was dragging a naked unconscious man like a rag doll. The man’s skin was littered with claw marks and blood. But Amelia looked as clean and pure as a newborn flower.Midnight Pack members soon identified the man. He was the missing son. As soon as she reached Steven, she looked at the man near Steven’s feet.“Tsk. Like father, like son. Both of them are weak chickens. Brother you know, he couldn’t even take a few punches! He fainted right away! I didn’t even feel any joy.” Amelia complained as she wiped her hands clean. An eery silence covered the area. The new pack members were too afraid to speak while the old pack members had nothing to speak at all.
