Chapter 2
“Miss, are you up?” I heard a voice over me. My head hurt so badly, and my eyes felt so heavy that I could hardly open them up. I could feel the pain coming from my belly, and it hurt so badly. I managed to open up my eyes, and it slowly scanned around the room. Seeing the nurse in front of me, I could guess that I had woken up at the hospital. “You are at the hospital, Miss. How are you feeling?” I heard the nurse's soft voice again. “M-my baby.” I whimpered. That was the only thing I could think of at the moment. I knew my life had already gone down the drain, but my baby was the only hope I had left. “Let me get you the doctor.” I heard the nurse mumble as she scampered away from my sight. I heard some footsteps approaching, and I knew the nurse was back with the doctor. My eyes had become clearer, and I could observe everything around me quite well. “Miss, We already called your guardian. They will be here soon.” I heard the doctor’s voice the moment he reached my side. My eyes snapped open widely. They called Lucas? Just the mention of his name brought a little tear to the corner of my eyes. Tears formed in my eyes, and they streamed down afterward. “Ma’am, are you okay? Are you feeling pain anywhere?” The nurse asked concerned. “No.” I wiped off my tears. “But why did you call my guardian? Is anything wrong with my baby?” I asked. Why would they call Lucas when they could just discharge me and let me go home? I was suddenly so scared. Did anything wrong happen? “D-did anything happen to my baby?” I asked the second time, and I managed to sit up on the hospital bed. “What about her guardian?” The doctor asked the female nurse. “He isn’t here yet.” The nurse responded by shaking her head negatively. He took a glance at his watch. “It’s been over an hour since we called. I guess I have to break the news to her.” The doctor mumbled, turning to my side. My brows snapped together tightly. “What news?” I blinked, unable to get the whole drama. “Ma’am, I’m sorry to inform you, but you lost your pregnancy.” The doctor revealed to my face. I was left completely shattered and dumbfounded. I mean, no way that would happen. I could have just broken some bones and broken my legs, but there is no way I will lose my baby, my only hope. I broke down into tears, ignoring the people around me. The doctor left after some while, and I was left alone. More tears kept streaming down my face. I couldn’t take it, but no matter how much I cried, I couldn’t find anyone at my side to wipe off those tears for me. Lucas was nowhere to be found. I just wanted him by my side at this minute at least. I just wanted to be right next to me, patting me and telling me it would be okay at least for the night. Just at the same minute, I watched the door open, and just like I hoped for, Lucas walked in. I guess the gods were still by my side. they hadn’t forsaken me completely. “Lucas.. I.. lost my baby.” I break the news to my husband in tears. However, there was this expression on his face that I couldn’t understand. His demeanor was different. “Are you okay?” He asked, standing at the foot of the bed. How could he ask if I was okay? There was no way that I would. I was expecting him to come to my side, pull me into a hug, and pat my back, but Lucas was far away from me instead, asking me questions. “Is that the only thing you are going to ask?” I wiped my tears. Lucas looked so frustrated like he was forced to come down here. “Don’t start this again. Sienna, what else am I expecting to ask?” He groaned angrily. “I’m your wife, Lucas. You are expected to do more than this. I just lost my child, our baby.” Even though I didn’t want to cry again, more tears streamed down my face. “Then what am I expected to do? Wail along with you?” Lucas said harshly, and I was left in shock. I was taken aback. Lucas can be this heartless? He inhaled sharply and took a few steps closer to me. He suddenly took out an envelope from his pocket. My brows snapped together at the familiarity. It was the same paper he had given me in the morning. “Let's get a divorce. The only thing we are holding on to is gone. I love Lisa, and I want to be with her.” He spilled to my face. I was left completely stunned. “These are the divorce papers. Just sign them quietly.” He added. I had just lost my baby, but the only thing Lucas could think of was to give me the divorce papers. The only thing I wanted beside me was my darling husband, but instead, a divorce paper was placed right beside her by him. My lashes trembled, and a pool of fresh tears fell from my eyes. I never imagined that I had married a beast, a monster. “You are divorcing me for your uncle’s wife?” “Just get it down, Sienna. You know I don’t like being kept waiting.” He rolled his eyes at me with disgust. “Here is a compensation f*e. I put in a million dollars for you,” Lucas added, passing a different envelope across to me. He is offering a million dollars for compensation. That’s all I got for loving Lucas? “I don’t need your money!” I yelled, throwing back the envelope to him even though I had no penny. “I don’t care about that. Stop acting this way and sign the divorce papers.” He grunted at my face. My hands trembled, and I slowly took the pen he passed to me. I could feel my heart shattering into pieces as I inserted my signature into the divorce papers. When I was done, I watched the satisfactory smile that escaped from Lucas’s lips. “Good girl.” With that, he turned to the door, and I watched the door open again. My face was instantly covered with horror the moment I watched Lisa catwalk in. “Are you done with her?” I heard her sexy voice as usual.Seeing her clearly reminded me of what Lisa looked like. A lady with long legs and a slender, curvy body, she had a pair of brown eyes that matched her brown hair. She had been a beauty goddess since we were in college.
He didn’t come alone? Lucas came with his mistress to oversee our divorce! I was completely shattered. What have I done to deserve all this?
I did all I could to love Lucas, but this was the thing I got in return.
“Yes, honey. Let's return home.” I watched him smile so broadly to her. They linked arms and walked out of the ward, leaving me behind. My heart ached so badly that I found more tears streaming down my cheek. I was left completely devastated. Even the only hope I had held on to was gone. Just then the door was opened again. I thought Lucas was back to his senses and came back to me, but I was a little surprised to see it wasn’t Lucas. This time It was Lisa who had a clear smirk on her face. I watched her sway her hips to my side. “Why are you back here? Are you here to gloat?” I screamed in her face. “Gloat? I'm here to shame you, bitch. I can’t believe you are crying,” she laughed maniacally. She moved close to my side and leaned a little closer to my ears. “Lucas had always belonged to me. You are the one who stole him away, I did nothing wrong with snatching him back.” She whispered into my ears. “You left him, Lisa.” I cried. She fucking left him for another man, which was his uncle. “How can you do that to me, Lisa? We are friends. what about his uncle? What are you going to say to him?” I asked her. I was really curious about that. She stood straight, glaring at my eyes, and a smirk tugged at the corner of her lips. “We are never friends, Lisa. I always hated you.” She said to my face, and I could see the rage in her eyes. “How dare you try to make friends with me? How dare you covet what I own? I was never in your league, and I wanted you to know that.” She spat at my face. “And for Lucas's uncle, I am divorcing him. He is no longer my taste. I will be getting married to Lucas whether you both like it or not.” She scorned. When she was done with me, she walked towards the door, ready to leave, but suddenly, Lisa stopped and turned to face me.
“And I hope you like my little gift,” Lisa beamed. Her gaze slowly fell on my tummy, and a deadly smirk tugged at the corner of her lips.
My brows furrowed. I couldn’t understand, maybe I didn’t want to believe the thoughts coming to me. “I’m sorry, but I couldn’t watch any other lady carry my man’s child. Lucas belongs to only me.” Lisa shrugged at my face and she confirmed my fear at last.Lisa was behind my accident? She killed my baby!
I didn’t want to cry in front of Lisa, but I didn’t know when I broke down into tears.
She laughed crazily and walked out of the room, leaving me alone. My tears streamed down freely. I felt like dying; I felt like putting an end to my miserable life.A phone suddenly buzzed beside me. It continued to ring, and after a short time, I wiped the tears from the corners of my eyes. I reached out for the phone beside me and picked up the call.
“What do you want?” I asked coldly to the person on the other end of the phone.
“I think it’s time to return home, Miss. Your mother is dying.” The voice revealed, and I panicked. “Mother is sick?” Ignoring my weak body, I struggled out of bed. I knew I needed to return home at once. I needed to see my mother.
"Ma’am, you can’t go yet!” I heard the nurse's voice behind me, but I ignored it. I made my way out of the hospital, but unfortunately, the nurse caught up with me. She grabbed my hand, and I watched her breathe heavily, trying to catch her breath. “Let me go!” I tried to yank my hand free, but she was so strong. “The doctor needs to talk to you. He needs to talk to you urgently,” she revealed. I squinted my eyes. “What’s going on?”
** “What do you mean?” I asked, looking at the doctor, completely dumbfounded. “I’m sorry, but there was a mix-up with the results,” the doctor said, lowering his head a little. “There is nothing wrong with your baby. You only hurt your thigh, which is why you bled so much.” The doctor paused and glanced at me to see if I was following, and of course, I was. “There was only a mix-up due to the shift. I’m so sorry for the inconvenience.” He added looking apologetic.
“Your baby is perfectly fine, and I’m sure you are happy to hear that,” the nurse added, smiling brightly at me. However, I maintained a little frown on my face. “Would you like to proceed with the antenatal care at our hospital, ma’am?” the female nurse asked.
“I would like to abort the baby,” I mumbled. I watched their faces drop in shock, and the two exchanged glances. “What? Sorry, miss?” The doctor blinked, turning back to me. “I would like to get rid of the monster’s baby!” My eyes sparkled with fury.Chapter 3 Four years later.I got out of the limousine and stepped on the marble floor in my three-inch red heels. I swayed my hips towards the front grand door, and the guards stationed at every corner of the house immediately bowed at the sight of me, but the moment I arrived in front of the door, the voices coming from inside stopped me. "I want to see my father!" a voice screamed, followed by the sound of a flower vase breaking inside.“Young miss. I’m afraid you can’t be doing this. Ma’am isn’t home at the moment. You need to calm down.” I heard the housekeeper trying to persuade the young girl.“I won’t stop until you ask her to bring me my father!” The young girl groaned loudly enough to irritate me, but I ignored that. I pushed the door open and announced my arrival.“I’m home,” I mumbled. The housekeeper immediately turned in my direction and bowed.“Welcome ma’am.”She took a step closer to me. “Ma’am, she has…” The housekeeper tried to explain the whole situation to me
Chapter 4 Lucas POVI ran my finger into my hair, looking so frustrated. What the hell is going on?I thought today was a good day, but it turned out to be the worst day of my life. What’s going on?Just then the door was pushed open and my secretary ran in. Seeing the look in his eyes, I knew something worse had happened again. I knew he had come to give me more reports, and I was devastated even before I heard them.“What’s going on, Kenneth?” I asked, sounding so frustrated already.Ken was my best friend and still my secretary.“The sales are dropping Lucas. This is getting out of hand.” He told me.I paced around the room. I ran my fingers into my hair, looking so frustrated. If there is anyone I want to kill right now, it will be the person spoiling my reputation right now—the reputation I had built for years.“Do you find out who ‘He’ is?” I asked Ken sternly. He sighed.“That’s the problem. We are still unable to track him.” He told me.I groaned in anger. “Then who on eart
Chapter 5 Sienna POV I walked towards my suite with a soft smile escaping from my lips while scrolling through my phone. Just at the moment, a call came into my cellphone. I picked up almost immediately. “Did you see the news?” The anonymous voice asked me. I immediately nodded. Of course, I saw it, and I was more than excited at the moment. “Yes, and I’m in love with it. I will talk to you later. Thanks for the good work.” I told the voice and hung up. The smile on my face grew even wider, shining so brightly that it nearly blinded anyone who looked at me. Seeing the rumour of Lucas circulating the internet, I was so in love with it. I smiled brightly as I approached my suite, where I had left Daphne. I frowned slightly at the thought of Daphne. I had left Daphne behind in the suite after she had chosen to nag me the whole day just because she wanted to see her father. The same man who abandoned her even at the point of death. She chose someone else over her! I breathed de
Chapter 6 Lucas POV I couldn’t believe the unbelievable connection I had with the little girl. We went along quite well, and she ended up revealing to me everything about her mother. What kind of mother has been so harsh to her kid? What kind of mother does she have? I watched her frown slightly, and she accompanied it with a pout, but that greatly reminded me of someone again. “She is a real devil, mister. I don’t know why I’m telling you all this, but my mother hates me.” She complained to me. I sighed and adjusted on my seat. The two of us finally rested at one of the lounge’s chairs, discussing her mother. I hadn’t met her, but I couldn’t imagine how devilish she was. How could she be so cranky towards a little girl? I leaned closer to her. “Do you want me to call the cops on her?” I asked her. She sighed dramatically. “I don’t want to do that. She is still my mother; at least she clothed me and fed me. I’m always grateful for that.” The little girl told me, and I l
Chapter 7Sienna POVI didn’t expect to bump into someone who greatly reminded me of my past.“How long had it been? Four years after you left?” Uncle Max jaw slackened completely seeing me. After I left, no one knew my whereabouts, not even Lucas. Even if he wanted to search for me, he had nowhere to search. Lucas knew nothing about my real identity. I left everything behind just to marry him, but I ended up regretting that. “What are you doing here, Uncle Max?” I asked, looking surprised to see him as well. I had chosen the particular hotel knowing it was one of their family’s rival hotels, and I thought I would never run into anyone I knew there, but surprisingly I met him there.“When did you get back, Sienna?” The man asked, and he looked surprised to see me as well.I inhaled sharply as all the memory came running to my head. All the memories I had tried so hard to forget. “How have you been doing, Sienna? We need to talk.” He added.“What have you been doing?” He asked, lo
Chapter 8Sienna POVDifferent questions ran through my mind. I couldn’t understand how Daphne and Lucas crossed paths. But one thing I knew was that my anger was more visible towards Lucas. I hate him so much. I abhorred him so much. Lucas gazed tore away from me all of a sudden, and they rested on Daphne. He seemed to say some words to Daphne, and he quietly grabbed her by her hands. My brows snapped together furiously, and I was totally annoyed. “I said, Let go of her now!” I didn’t know when I screamed so loud.I stomped angrily towards him, ignoring the loud echoes of my footsteps on the marble floor.Daphne's eyes were fixed on me, and I could see the little fear in her. She seemed a little scared of me, and I hated that, especially seeing how close she was to Lucas, whom she had probably just met. Had I really been a bad mother to her?“Mom.. “ Daphne called out. Hearing that Lucas looked completely flustered and shocked. He immediately took a glance back at Daphne.“Mom?”
Chapter 9Lucas POVWhen the little girl addressed Sienna as her mother, I didn’t want to believe it, but not until Sienna called her her daughter too.Sienna had a child?Looking at the girl, no doubt she had her after we divorced. There was no way she was suddenly seeing someone after we divorced unless she had someone hidden in a corner. Sienna was cheating on me?“Wait, were you cheating on me?” I asked her, looking so furious. I watched her smirk with her arms folded across her chest. She looked so proud. Proud as always, and that was part of the reason I preferred Lisa over her. “And is that how you say hello to your ex-wife?” She smirked at my face.“Ex-wife?” I scoffed furiously.“I don’t even think I know you!” I yelled at her face.“I never wanted to see you again too.” She hissed at my face before turning to Daphne, who looked confused at what was going on.“Let’s go back to our suite,” she told her, walking closer to grab a hold of her hands, but I quickly stopped that
Chapter 10 Lucas POV Seeing Sienna and hearing her talk to me in such manner completely angered me. I took the last glance at her before storming away from the lounge. “Mister!” I heard the little girl's voice right behind me, but I didn’t bother to take a glance back. Her mother probably grabbed her hands and stopped her from coming after me. The moment I arrived at where my car was parked, I got into the backseat and told the driver to drive off. “Drive me home!” I ordered “Home?” He looked a little surprised. I had hardly returned home during work time, and he also knew I had come to the hotel to do something very important. Having no other choice, he nodded and drove off, heading to my house. I gazed out of the tinted window. The face of the little girl, along with that of Sienna, flashed back to my head, and I couldn’t help but become angry. She was cheating on me all along. She was the real cheat, yet she always acted like she loved me. When I
Chapter 160 Lucas's PovI could feel it. Every time Sienna looked at me, the warmth in her gaze, the way her smile lingered just a little longer than it used to. It was subtle, but it was there. The walls she'd built around her heart were slowly crumbling, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief, and a little fear too. I hurt her more than once, and though I could sense she was falling for me again, I knew I had no right to ask for forgiveness. But I couldn’t help myself. I wanted this. I wanted us again.Today, I wanted to show her just how much I cared. It was a rare thing, this peace, and I wasn’t going to let it slip away. So, I took them both, Sienna and Daphne, out for the day. We spent the morning at a park, just the three of us. No drama, no complications. Daphne was full of energy, running around and laughing, and Sienna… Sienna was more relaxed than I had seen her in a long time. She was smiling, her eyes lighting up every time Daphne pulled her into some new adve
Chapter 159 Sienna’s PovThe atmosphere was with an air of curiosity as Lucas followed me to David's house. I hadn’t expected him to insist on coming along, but he seemed adamant about tying up any loose ends. I agreed, hoping the visit would go smoothly. David was gracious as always, hosted us with a warmth that made me question if he truly was okay with everything that had transpired between Lucas and me. He offered us tea and snacks while Daphne played with some toys he had kept aside for her during our previous visits. As we sat in his cozy living room, chatting about random topics, David raised his glass. “Here’s to new beginnings, Sienna. And to both of you, may you find happiness together.” His toast felt bittersweet, and I could see the faint sadness in his eyes, but he didn’t let it show too much. He spoke with such maturity that I couldn’t help but admire how gracefully he handled everything. Lucas, sensing the sincerity in David’s words, leaned over and shook his
Chapter 158Sienna's PovLiving with Lucas again was nothing like I had expected. Despite the rocky start and all the unresolved tension between us, I found myself slowly letting my guard down. Every time he did something thoughtful, whether it was making breakfast, helping Daphne with her schoolwork, or simply looking at me with those sincere eyes, I felt the walls around my heart crumbling. It was late that night, and Daphne had already gone to bed. I sat on the couch with a glass of wine, scrolling through my phone absentmindedly. Lucas came into the room, his hair slightly damp from a shower. He was wearing a plain T-shirt and sweats, looking relaxed and more like the man I fell in love with years ago. “Still awake?” he asked, sitting down next to me. “Couldn’t sleep,” I admitted. For a moment, we sat in comfortable silence. Then, out of nowhere, Lucas reached for my hand. “Sienna,” he said softly, “thank you for giving me another chance. I don’t deserve it, but I’m going
Chapter 157Sienna's PovI sat on the couch, staring at my phone as if it held all the answers to my chaotic life. Daphne was in her room, probably playing with her toys, completely unaware of how exhausted I felt. Lucas had texted earlier, saying he was taking Daphne for ice cream. A part of me was relieved—Daphne needed time with her father, and I needed time to think. But no amount of solitude seemed to ease the heavy burden pressing on my chest. My life felt like it was spinning out of control. Between Lucas’s attempts to re-enter my life, Ryan’s unexplained departure, and David’s quiet yet persistent care, I felt torn in too many directions. Just as I began to organize my thoughts, the doorbell rang. ---I opened the door cautiously and wasn’t surprised to see David standing there with a warm smile on his face. “Hey,” he said, holding up a small bag. “I brought some snacks. Thought we could talk.” I stepped aside and let him in, trying to muster a smile. “Thanks, David. B
Chapter 156 Lisa’s PovI couldn’t believe it. I stood outside the grocery store after that humiliating encounter with Lucas and Sienna, trembling with rage. A child. They had a child together. How had I never known? All this time, I’d thought Sienna was just some shadow of Lucas’s past, someone he pitied or felt guilty about. But no, she had a child, a child who was Lucas’s. The thought burned in my chest. He had lied to me, omitted the truth, and now he was playing house with her. I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms. Lucas belonged to me. I had stayed with him through everything. I had invested my time, my energy, and even my reputation into him. And now, he was discarding me like I was nothing. I wasn’t going to let Sienna win. The next day, I made my move. I knew that little girl, Daphne, would be going to school. Lucas wasn’t the most punctual, and he had a habit of being distracted by work or other things. It was the perfect opportunity to approach her, t
Chapter 155 Lucas’s Pov The way Sienna moved around the house, so calm and composed, made me question everything. She wasn’t the fiery woman who used to shout and hurl sharp words at me. She wasn’t the cold, unrelenting ex-wife I had imagined all these years. Instead, this version of Sienna was sweet, calm, and, if I dared to admit, somehow even more beautiful than before. I couldn’t stop staring at her. It wasn’t just her physical beauty, though that certainly hadn’t faded. It was her grace, the way she cared for Daphne, the way her laughter sounded when she thought no one was listening. Everything about her seemed effortless, as though she had finally become the woman she was always meant to be, without me. When I woke up the next morning, the smell of something warm and delicious wafted into the bedroom. I sat up, groggy, only to hear the faint clatter of dishes. Was she… cooking? I quickly got dressed and headed to the kitchen, and there she was, flipping pancakes as
Chapter 154 Sienna’s Pov“Maybe I should give him a chance,” I whispered to myself while brushing Daphne’s hair in front of the mirror. It wasn’t like I wanted Lucas back in the romantic sense, at least not entirely. But I couldn’t deny how hard he was trying. For Daphne, for me… for us. The thought unsettled me because it forced me to confront my emotions, which I preferred to keep locked away. But as I prepared to make things easier for Lucas, the thought of David and Uncle Max made my stomach churn. Both of them had been acting like hypocrites, constantly preaching about what was best for me while putting me in complicated positions. It was frustrating and exhausting. I couldn’t stand it anymore. “Daphne, sweetie, do you want to help Mommy make breakfast?” I asked, trying to shake off the lingering negativity. “No, I want Daddy to make it!” she exclaimed cheerfully. I smiled at her enthusiasm and nodded. “Alright, go tell him then.” After seeing Lucas interact with Daphn
Chapter 153Lucas's PovI sat across from Jenny at a quiet café, my coffee untouched as I poured out my frustrations. “I just don’t understand what’s going on,” I said, gripping the edge of the table. “My uncle is getting way too involved with Sienna, and it’s driving me crazy. And Sienna, she’s avoiding me no matter how hard I try to get through to her.” Jenny leaned back in her chair, her eyes thoughtful as she sipped her tea. “Lucas, have you considered that maybe you’re trying too hard? She might need some space to figure things out.” “I can’t just stand by while my uncle pushes his way into her life,” I countered. “It’s not right. He’s supposed to be family, but it feels like he’s competing with me.” Jenny set her cup down and gave me a soft smile. “Here’s what I think. Stop forcing it. Let her come to you on her own terms. Show her that you’ve changed, but don’t pressure her. She’ll notice the difference and reach out when she’s ready.” I frowned, unsure. “And what if
Chapter 152 Lucas’s PovThe moment she arrived, I couldn’t hold back my emotions. As soon as I saw her, I instinctively reached for her hands and tried to pull her into a hug. She moved back slightly, her usual guarded demeanor in place. It didn’t matter, though. I smiled at her, genuinely grateful she had shown up. “Thank you for coming,” I said softly, my voice filled with relief. She folded her arms and tilted her head. “I had to,” she said matter-of-factly. “Daphne deserves the best care, and I need to ensure that.” Her words stung slightly. I wanted to believe her presence meant more than just Daphne, but I couldn’t argue with her. I let it go and motioned for her to sit. We settled down to eat. The table was quiet at first, but I couldn’t let the silence stretch any longer. This was my chance to make things right, and I wasn’t going to waste it. “I need to ask you something,” I began, trying to keep my voice steady. “Would you let me take full responsibility for Daphn
