Chapter four

" Does it hurt? She asked in a provocative tone. What is wrong with you three? And what did I do to earn this slap? Lily asked, trying hard to hide the tears that were forming in her eyes.

" for stealing what does not belong to you one of them said"

"Lily was confused as she glanced at the three angry-looking girls in front of her. I don't understand the grin in between her teeth but could still be heard"

 " I'm talking about Mark and Harvey, asshole. Who do you think you are? " she said with a light chuckle before she continued to insult her about how poor and ugly she looked and doesn't have any standards" Lily could only wish for the earth to eat her up now as she was dying in embarrassment. Soon other students gathered and were watching them."

Lily had only made friends with Mark and he was good to her but she wasn't aware he was out of bounds as for Harvey, they are only bench mates and only talk to each other when need be Lily thought about the situation as she sighs in frustration. The fever was making her weak she couldn't even stand erect to defend herself. All she wanted right now was to escape from them and go home.

Without saying a word to the girls who were still angry, insulting, and as well as threatening her, she held her stomach with one hand while adjusting her bag on her shoulder with the other hand and made her way out away from the three girls. She didn't have the energy to mess with them right now and she had heard fearful stories about these girls after all they are the most popular girls in school"

"Are we just gonna watch her walk out on us Grace? One of the three girls questioned '

" she was struggling to go forward when she felt a hand on the back of her head. One of the girls who was slightly taller than Lily pulled her hair aggressively causing her to fall backward on her butt and her ponytail soon loosen leaving some strands to cover her face " 

She whimper in pain as blood was oozing out from the bruises she earned on her leg.

Stop! Harvey yelled at the top of his voice and his face was even darker than Lily had ever seen. He was heading towards Lily when Mark came from no were and rushed to Lily making  Harvey halt on his tracts.

My goodness Lisa, Grace, and Eva how could you do this to an innocent girl? Mark already knew what their problem was. Eva is Mark's ex-girlfriend, they broke up even before they came to the university but she has refused to accept the fact that they were no longer in a relationship. She and her friends kept bullying any girl that came close to Mark and Lily is now a victim of this. 

Grace has just realized Harvey has been watching them, she turned on her heels as she walks up to him with a sorry face. I'm sorry you had to watch all that, we didn't mean to harm her we only wanted to talk to her but she was too mouthy and blew things out of proportion which earned her a slap from me, she said caressing Harvey's face with her index finger.

 pushing Grace's hand from his, he made her look into his eyes. I will never get tired of saying this over and over Grace. You, me, us can't work stop acting like a child and grow up. 

In annoyance, Grace wrapped her arms around her chest while leaning on the pillar behind her to have a clearer view of Harvey.

" why is too hard for you to accept me as your girlfriend? After school, you'll become the CEO of Evergreen and I'll take over my father's company as CEO as well we belong to the class and standard, why Harvey why can't you accept me I said faking tears as I took another step toward Harvey but he stopped me from coming closer.

I am even more furious than I was already. Seeing Lily in Mark's arms gave me nerves. What is wrong with these guys, why can't they get their eyes off Lily? Despite being distracted by Grace I couldn't even get my eyes off Lily.

Harvey, Grace, Joan, and Alex grew up together and were very close but Grace and Harvey were closer because they were both born on the same day, date, and hospital. It was sometimes very hard for Harvey because both Grace and Joan were in love with him and their parents wanted him to marry their daughter.

The difference between these two women is Grace always had what she wanted and her father especially did not help matters. After all, Grace was the only child he had after so many years of looking for a child of his own, and of course he was capable of affording all she needed. After all, he is the governor and a businessman as well.

Grace took another step closer to Harvey but was interrupted by Alex.

" Grace, Harvey what is going on?" he asked with his head bent down while he was planting like he had been chased by a wild dog. When he was a bit calm he raked his hair with his hand as he stood up before his gaze landed on Lily and Mark"

" What is happening here he asked as he hurried to Mark and Lily and immediately seized Lily from Mark"

No one responded to his question and Harvey was about to say something before Alex shouted.

" What the heck Mark,! Why were you hesitating? She's Burning up with fever Alex said, pulling her more in his arms. 

Harvey's eyes widened in shock as he ran to them and felt her temperature with the back of his hand. Stay put he commanded Alex as he ran to the parking lot to bring his car.

Mark's face had turned crimson red with disappointment. He wasn't only disappointed with what the three girls had done but he was also disappointed with himself for not realizing it earlier how sick Lily was. This is the girl he likes so much and cares about her. He was snapped out of his thoughts by the horn of Harvey's car before he started questioning himself about what relationship he had with Lily to care about her this much.
