I flinched as the person knocked again. With shaky legs, I stood up from my couch and walked to the door.
I opened the door slowly and almost screamed as I saw my boss, Mr Lockhart standing in front of me.
His wandering eyes made me aware of the baggy sweatshirt and pants I had on. I always loved being comfortable at home
"Sir, what are you doing here?" I quickly asked
His stoic expression was infuriating me, I liked being able to read people's emotions and I couldn't read his
"You said you'd do anything to pay for the damages you did to my car" he stated
By this time of the night?
Does he think that I'd sleep with him to pay a debt? Is he delusional?
"I know I said I'd do anything but I didn't mean that…"
He quick interrupted me
"Let me stop you right there. I didn't come here to sleep with you. That would be unprofessional and I am a man of class"
"So why are you here by this time?"
He looked into my house
"Mind if I come in?"
Yes I mind
"I'm sorry I don't think that's a good idea" I said instead
"Come on what are you scared of" he pushed past me and walked into my apartment
My jaw dropped open as I watched him make himself at home in my home. He pulled up a chair in my dining area and sat down comfortably.
"Can I get a glass of water, I'm parched" he requested.
Did he think he was in a restaurant? That he could just come in and order for water. I closed my front door and went into the kitchen to get him a bottle of water
Taking a seat beside him, I handed him the water.
"So what is this about Sir?"
As I watched him delicately lift the bottle to his lips, time seemed to stand still. The way his fingers gently grazed the cool surface, his lips parting slightly, and the graceful tilt of his head—it was mesmerizing. The simple act of savoring a sip of water became an enchanting display of elegance and allure that all came crashing down when he opened his mouth to speak.
"I want you to be my girlfriend"
My eyes shot open and so did my mouth. I had a lot of things to say but he was my boss so I sorted through my mind first
"With all due respect sir, that is…" I started to say but before I could finish he cut me off.
"Calm down okay. You owe me and I need a girlfriend, you do the math"
I was never good at math
"I'm confused"
He shook his head
"It'll just be pretend. My grandparents have been on my back about having one, they're old and I need to start pleasing them"
He wanted to do this for his grandparents, I guess I understood that but why me?
"Then why can't you just get one. You're rich and not too bad looking it shouldn't be too hard to find a girl"
He looked insulted
"Not too bad looking? Have you looked at me?"
Of course I had looked at him
His piercing blue eyes held no emotions but still held a depth that captivated my attention. His brown hair framed a face in a way that could only be described as striking, with chiseled features and an air of confident charm And those lips, perfectly shaped and inviting, carried an allure that stirred a flutter within me. In one fleeting glance, I could point all of that out which is why this is absurd
"Sir, I'm your personal assistant, this is weird"
"Look, I don't have time to get to know someone new. From your resume, you seem like a nice person and you owe me. This is the perfect deal. Be my girlfriend just for the public, for my family, no strings attached"
I rested chin on my palm
"I don't know sir even if I agree to this. I just started working for you, it'll be hard to believe that we're somehow in love all of a sudden"
"Just leave that part to me"
"If I agree to this, I owe you nothing" I state
"Yeah, your debt would be cleared"
It was a tempting offer but acting as my boss's girlfriend
"I'm not sure"
He gave me a look
"What's holding you back? Do you have a boyfriend?"
"No but…"
"But nothing. Do you have a million dollars to pay your debts?"
"No sir"
"I don't think you have a choice"
He had a point
"Okay. Fine I agree"
"Nice doing business with you, see you tomorrow at work, fake girlfriend"
"Bye"
What the heck have I gotten myself into?
I locked the door and jumped into my bed. What the heck just happened? I just agreed to fake date my boss.

The next day at work was unexpected. As soon as I stepped out of my car to get into the office. Mr Lockhart was standing in front of me, wearing a smile and holding a bouquet of lilies.
How did he know they were my favorite?
"What's going on?" I asked as I collected the bouquet from him.
His smile only grew bigger as he leaned down towards me, the sudden close proximity between us sent chills down my spine. He placed a quick peck on my cheeks only intensifying the chills.
"There are some paparazzi hiding around taking photos of us, just smile"
The corners of my lips rose to form a smile
"I didn't think we would start this early"
"Well it has begun" he declared and collected wrapped his arm around me pulling me into a hug.
As we separated from the hug, he placed a hand on my back and led me into the office
Once we were in the confinement of the office, I no longer felt conscious of his hand on my back. Instead, I felt uncomfortable by the stares everyone was giving me. I never liked attention.
"Please excuse me" I whispered to Mr Lockhart and gently scooched out of his embrace.
I made my way to the toilet and let out a breath the moment I was alone in a stall. This was unbelievable. Why hadn't I thought this through before agreeing to it? I owed him money but was this worth it? Everyone in there was looking at me like I was a wench. My picture is going to be everywhere on the net as the PA who was dating her employer.
Shit. I really had not thought it through, My mother was going to find out and my friends too.
I wrapped my hands around my head and sighed as my phone made a dinging sound. I brought it out of my jacket pocket.
A notification popped up t
hat was a link to a blog post. It was about me and Mr. Lockhart.
My eyes went wide as I read the caption.
Holy Fuck…
When I was in middle school, there was a day when I decided to wear lipstick and makeup for the first time. I genuinely thought I looked good as I walked into school, but little did I know what awaited me. As soon as I entered the building, Skully, the boy who always mocked and bullied me, grabbed me by the shirt and dragged me towards him into a secluded corner. "You look like a clown," he sneered, his words cutting through me."My mom said I looked beautiful," I replied, desperately holding onto a glimmer of confidence."She lied to you. Take it off," he spat with contempt.Defiantly, I shook my head. "No," I mustered, summoning a bit of courage, and pushed him away. However, he responded by shoving me back with force, causing my back to collide with the unforgiving wall. The pain was immediate, and I couldn't help but cry out, "Ouch!""Take it off now!" Skully bellowed, his voice filled with rage.Tears streaming down my face, I reached into my bag and grabbed a tissue, desperatel
"Who is there?" I asked as I placed my hand on the door handle"It's me. Open up" I knew who it was the second I heard the voice. His gruffy voice that once captivated me now only sent nasty chills my way. What was he doing here?I opened the door halfway and blocked the space. I couldn't let him into my house, not after the last time."What are you doing here, Marcus?" I asked looking him straight in the eye"Are you really dating the CEO of that company you always talked about?" Curiosity filled his voice"Yes and I don't see how it's any of your business" "It is my business, if my girl is going out with some guy, I need to know" "I am not your girl. Can you leave? I have somewhere I need to be" He licked his lips and took a step towards me "Wouldn't you invite me in?"I tightened my grip on the door "No. You're not welcome here. Not anymore"His gaze deepened and he took a step forward towards the door. I knew that if he tried to get in on his own, I would stand no chance agai
Nora's P.O.V *Dear Miss Nora Roberts, we are happy to inform you that you passed the interview to be the personal assistant to the CEO of Lockhart's industry. You are obliged to start work on monday by 8:00am. We look forward to working with you*For the fifth time that day, I read out the email I had been waiting for. Two weeks ago, I sat for an interview in Lockhart's industry for the position of the personal assistant. I never thought I'd get it.I only applied there because my best friends Stacey and James kept pushing me to try. It had always been my dream to be an architect, and what better way to fuel that dream than working as a P.A. to the CEO of the best architectural company?Enough about my dreams, it was time to celebrate. My friends had texted me to meet them at Clyde's bar to celebrate my big news.In less than ten minutes, I was on the road. My driving mirror was hanging down as I applied lipstick. I averted my gaze from the road to the mirror hanging in front of me.
In front of me was the guy whose car I had damaged. He was dressed just like the previous day, in an expensive suit only now he wasn't wearing sunglasses. He looked so at home, almost as if he owned the place.A surge of panic shot through me as I remembered the fake phone number I had given him. Instinctively, I hid behind a nearby wall, I prayed silently that he hadn't seen me. "What are you doing here?" a voice suddenly exclaimed, catching me off guard. My shock intensified when I realized that it was the very same man I was trying to hide from"I work here" I started composing myselfHis blue eyes scrutinized me from head to toe "You don't work here. I know all the staff"I shifted away from him "Well maybe you don't know everyone""I do know everyone. So who exactly are you?" His eyes once again ravaged my body, making me feel uncomfortable "I'm new. It's my first day" I finally said He nodded his head and then a glint appeared in his eyes like he had just remembered somethin
