They were silent for a few minutes. Harper was already fast asleep because it was past her bedtime already and Derek realized that he should probably leave so that Ava could get some sleep as well.

"I should probably be leaving now," Derek said, getting up and stretching luxuriously.

One day, in the near future, he hoped he wouldn’t have to leave Ava and Harper at the end of the day anymore, but for now, he would do whatever it was that made Ava comfortable and happy.
