Chapter 4

ADELE'S P.O.V

My eyes fell on the stranger, his gray eyes staring intently at me and the corner of his lips held a smirk as he helped me stand up.

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I returned his gaze. There was something about him that made me feel both nervous and intrigued. He was tall, strong and handsome, with broad shoulders and dark brown hair. But it was his eyes that drew me in, their intense gray depths seeming to see straight through me.

"Excuse me.." I cleared my throat as I arranged my dress.

"I'm sorry. I didn't see you…" I apologized as I had bumped into him.

"It's nothing.." he waved me off. I couldn't help but admire his unique features.

The man standing before me was the epitome of good looks.

He was dressed in a nice Royal attire which I immediately recognized to be the finest silk in the whole of Wolfhaven.

But who was this man standing in front of me? I never recollected meeting him at the party in the past.

I studied him carefully, trying to figure out where I had seen him before. His features were striking, with high cheekbones and a strong jawline. His lips were full and sensual, and his eyes were the most arresting shade of gray I had ever seen. But I was certain I had never seen him before.

"I'm sorry if I'm being rude, but I don't think we've met before," I began, hoping he wouldn't take offense.

"Are you new to Wolfhaven?"

He smiled, and it was like the sun had suddenly come out.

"No, I'm not new here" he replied and I became even more confused.

"I see…" I muttered meaningfully.

"Tristan my Lady.." he introduced, reaching out his hand in a polite manner.

"Adele.." I smiled warmly at him as he took my hand planting a kiss on my knuckle.

My heart skipped a beat as his lips brushed my skin. He had such a strong and confident presence, and I found myself drawn to him in a way I couldn't explain.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Adele," he said, his voice low and seductive. I felt my cheeks flush and I hoped he wouldn't notice.

"Can I have a dance?" He asked and I realized the music was playing and different people were dancing.

"Sure.." I accepted and he led me to the dance fall.

I had no idea why I accepted to dance but I was sure I wanted to be away from two people. Eleanor and Malcolm.

He held my hand gently, and placed his other hand on my waist. We began to move slowly, and I was surprised by how natural it felt to be in his arms. He led me expertly around the dance floor, and I found myself relaxing into the rhythm of the music.

"You're a very good dancer," he commended, smiling down at me.

"Where did you learn?"

"I had a good teacher," I replied, thinking of my late mother. She had loved to dance, and had taught me everything I knew about dancing.

"What about you?"

"I've had a few lessons," he said.

"So Tristan, where are you from exactly? I've never seen you around?" I was curious about the handsome stranger I just met.

"I came on the Alpha's invitation.." he responded.

"My father?" I narrowed my brows and he nodded in agreement.

"Which pack are you from?" I asked him.

"Why all these questions? Perhaps are you interested in me?" He grilled and the corner of his lips curved up mischievously.

"I'm just making conversation," I stated, trying to sound nonchalant. But in truth, I was curious about him. There was something about him that was intriguing, and I couldn't help but want to know more.

"You're a curious one, aren't you?" he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

"Are you married?" I asked out of the blue as he twirled me around now that my back was resting on him, his hand around my waist as we danced.

"No…" he replied.

"Do you want to get married?" I blurted out as he stilled. But he quickly regained his composure and we continued dancing.

"Do you?" He had a challenging look on his face.

"Yes. But not for love.." I replied.

*I want to be married for the next three months.." I said to him, The only way I would be able to get away from Malcolm was if I was with someone else. And this stranger seemed to be the perfect candidate.

"You should find a husband then. You're a beautiful princess, I'm sure many men would line up to be with you…" his breath fanned my ears and my face flushed red at his word.

"Let's get married.." I proposed as he twirled me again. I was now facing him and our eyes locked.

The music stopped at that moment and my father came up to make an announcement.

After saying a speech. He made his way to invite the supreme Alpha of Wolfhaven to the stage.

"Please let's welcome Alpha Tristan to the stage.." he said.

At first I paused when I heard the name Tristan. The stranger introduced himself as Tristan.

I hope it was not what I was thinking.

I was in denial when I heard him whisper to me.

"Come on.."

"Huh?" My brows narrowed in confusion.

"Don't you want to get married?" He smirked, locking his hands with mine. Then he led me up to the stage.

I could hear the murmurs of people as we both walked majestically to the stage.

They all looked surprised, I was also stunned and perplexed.

When we finally arrived, everyone bowed in respect and Tristan's deep and melancholic voice rang in the hall.

"It is with great honor that I stand here before you. I have come to announce some great news!"

The room was silent, and I could feel the tension in the air.

"There'll be a Royal wedding between me, king Tristan and Adele Stark!" He announced and I stilled in surprise.

The whole room was filled with murmurs and everyone looked shocked at the sudden announcement.

"What just happened?"
