Chapter 2

The dean looked me up and down with a cold expression and said, "Luna, I know Xena's character very well. She's a kind-hearted girl. There's no way she would lie.

"She risked herself to help you value your life, and instead of being grateful, you had the nerve to hit her in front of the entire school!

"I don't think you need to stay in school anymore. You should just drop out and go home to reflect on your actions!"

I was so furious I almost spat blood. "You're supposed to be a teacher, yet you protect a thief without even looking into the truth.

"What did she offer you to make you say something like that?"

The dean's face turned livid as she responded, "Luna, how could you accuse me? Xena is a financially disadvantaged student. What could she possibly offer me?

"It's you who tried to bribe me to go against her, but I never accepted your offers!"

I stood there under the scorching sun, yet a chill ran through me. When did the dean become one of Xena's supporters?

While I was focused on my studies, what had they been plotting behind my back?

In my past life, before I even realized what was happening, I was locked away in a secluded psychiatric hospital, where I died that very night from food poisoning.

What should I do now to protect myself?

I quickly assessed the situation. They had not only bought off the dean but also had two billion dollars at their disposal. Taking down someone as defenseless as me would have been all too easy for them.

For the time being, the best course of action was to retreat home and wait until I was absolutely safe before striking back.

With that in mind, I slowly backed away. Before anyone could react, I slipped away back to the villa.

Seeing me return during school hours, my father frowned in displeasure. "Luna, instead of studying, you’ve started skipping class now?"

I finally saw a family member! Tears welled up in my eyes uncontrollably. "Dad! Xena sold the island Mom gave me and even spread lies about me in public!

"You don’t understand, they... in the past..."

Before I could finish, my father’s frown deepened as he cut me off. "Enough! Not only are you skipping school, but now you’re lying too? Xena is a good girl, one I watched grow up. She would never do such a thing."

Hearing his words, I felt the blood in my veins turn cold. I never imagined that my father, who had always loved me, would believe Xena over me. And he did it without hesitation, especially at a time like this.

When did they all join Xena's side?

I could not figure it out, but I knew that even home was no longer safe.

I stood there, taking deep breaths to calm my racing heart, then spoke in my usual domineering tone, "So, you’re siding with Xena too? Since you all like her so much, I don’t want to see any of you ever again!"

With that, I turned and ran, planning to go to my grandmother’s place in the suburbs and figure things out from there.

But as soon as I opened the villa door, I ran straight into my fiancé, Scott Lucas.

The moment he saw me, he pushed me to the ground with disgust. "Luna, being engaged to you has been the biggest stain in my life.

"You did those disgusting things, and you still had the nerve to hit Xena in public. I'm breaking off our engagement right now!"

As he spoke, Orion and Xena walked up to join him.

Xena, seeing my miserable state, leaned close to my ear and whispered smugly, "Surprised, Luna? Your brother and your fiancé are both under my control now.

"Luna, you’re nothing more than a tiny, insignificant sacrifice on my path to success."

Even though I knew she was trying to provoke me, I could not stop myself from kicking her to the ground.

At that moment, an ambulance pulled up in front of us.

Orion and Scott saw the doctors in white coats getting out of the car and smiled at me with satisfaction. "Luna, with how unstable you are now, you must have bipolar disorder.

"We’ve called in the medical team to take you to the hospital for a proper examination."

Seeing this familiar scene, I felt my heart pound like a drum. This was exactly how it happened in my past life.

They called the medical team without question, had me tied up, and instructed the nurses to poison my food.

I was completely defenseless, and just like that, I died at the hands of my own family!

As the doctors advanced toward me, memories of my tragic death in the past life flooded back. Gritting my teeth, I suddenly grabbed Xena, who was closest to me. I pressed the fruit knife I had snatched while fleeing against her neck.

"Let’s see who dares to come any closer!"
