Lies Under My Skin

A heart boisterously banged itself hard against a heavy wall of ribs that slowly shook with each vehement and demanding beat.

Eyes filled with sparkling water slowly fell to the floor, not believing what they saw. Yes, the vision was blurry and nothing seemed to make sense — all that he could see was double everything his eyes fell upon, including Jiyeon who was smirking right on his face.

The girl stood there, carelessly folding her arms across her chest, which elegantly heaved with what was believed to be delight. With an evil chuckle, Jiyeon watched as David struggled to breathe. There, his arms helplessly dangled in the air as hope escaped from his system. The boy stood quietly while he hopelessly wished the ground could just open up for it to swallow him alive.

— How dare she say that to him? Have she no shame?

"How…could she? B-but..was she right? She looks serious! No, Travis would not hide this from me. She is only trying to mess up with my head!" There, David hissed quietl

[The Dark Side Of Love?] '4DAVID'S POV: "Oh, really? Are you willing to go this far? I can't believe it!" There, I silently hissed to myself, my eyes narrowing and slyly observing Travis's tiny, hesitant movements, albeit a frown glueing itself across my forehead. I could feel it — my heart was banging harder and louder against the walls of my chest whilst my breathing fastened. Right opposite to me sat Travis whom I watched as he struggled to breathe, or was it just an act? His movements had become clumsy all of a sudden — he was touching this and leaving that off. It is funny to me because I knew that this was all because of the question I asked — a question that I knew was filled with words that were tightly pressed on the pack of his surviving buttons. He did not know what to do anymore —"You are suddenly so perfect in mathematics. You know all the methods I have never taught you…, is there something you'd like to share with me? Spill the tea, maybe?" That was it, the questio

"Petrichor!" Travis silently hissed albeit gritting his teeth while his eyes were slyly and closely observing a group of clouds as they were angrily floating in one direction — so ugly and grey. The boy impatiently watched as buildings and trees sharply passed by, outside the car window. There, he quietly sat in the back, his eyes never releasing themselves from the sky that was rapidly becoming tar black whilst at the same time receiving a small, yet "beautiful" decoration from the flashing lightning that was lighting the whole sky like fireworks. On the boy's trembling left hand was a tissue paper which he tightly held. Inside of it was a pill that adequately made his blood boil with rage and fear. Never for once did he look down on his hand — he seemed paralyzed. "She won't know…!" He silently cried as he further tightened his grip on the tissue paper — the boy was not going to let go until it was broken into pieces and it finally did. He quickly released an air of relief through

"Was it too deep that he refused to answer any of my texts or calls? Is this when our friendship goes to die all because of my silly mistake?" Travis, whose heart was beating slow in tempo and broken to uncountable pieces, silently cried as he rested his head on the table. His bloodshot eyes were looking out of the window where he sadly watched the tar-coloured, huge clouds release streams of tears that delicately touched the ground and trees whose leaves were dancing to the rhythms of the wind — as usual. Beat by beat, his heart was increasing speed — he suddenly felt like he was dying. His body was shivering like he had been struck by a bullet until he failed to control the movements that his body tried to coordinate. He was suffocating — non-stop, the boy never found a break from blaming himself for the downfall of his friendship with David. Of course, he had been trying again to call him last night, countless times that made him believe that David must not want anything from him

[ MISUNDERSTOOD WORDS LINGER TOGETHER IN A GAME OF LOVE! ]•••Hushed — completely quiet. The art room was ambushed by a heartbreaking, rude blue code of silence, however, this seemed to be fine with Travis. The whole spacious compartment was well-kept and neat; it did not look like it was a room no longer in use and of course, that was all thanks to Travis and David. "No one has landed a hand on you, I see!" Travis quietly growled as soon as his eyes caught his mother's portrait still in the same place he had left it. Releasing a deep, oppressed sigh, the boy shuffled close towards the stools that were carefully put around a table with only an empty vase and released an exhausted sigh as he placed his bottoms on one of the chairs. "Looks like it is only you and I, again! It will always be…!" Wearing a weak smile, Travis lazily breathed whilst looking at the painting of his mother as he felt all the energy leaving him. "I knew that I would find you here!" David's voice suddenly blu

  • The Brightest Shadow: Teenage Days   Phase Four: Sam

“Kiss me!” There, Sam confidently spoke as he mischievously took a step closer to David, whilst wearing a beaming, treacherous smile that softly blinded the boy who blankly watched him approach. David froze on the spot and gulped as soon as his ears captured Sam's words. A frown was standing between his eyes, while rushing to spread across his forehead. “W-what…?” Completely taken aback, David whispered a query, tilting his head to the right as his eyes buried themselves deep into Sam's eyes — Sam who was forever smiling. His cheeks were blooming, shameless as delight encouraged his eyelids to tremble. “Come on, David, don't tell me you're shy. The last time I checked, you did not mind at all! Who knows, maybe it'll be more sweet than Travis's?” Sam squealed happily as soon as he stopped just a step away from David. The boy was truly speechless — he tried so much to take account of every word Sam had aired but there was nothing. His frown deepened when he witnessed Sam take that on

[ Late Night At The Park Mansion! ]“She came back really early tonight. Or is it that Mrs Lee did not keep her word? What will I say to her…?” An agitated Travis who was nervously entwining his fingers together as he flew down a trail of shimmering stairs, silently huffed, whilst his lips slightly trembled as he thought of words to speak to his grandmother. It was already past eight thirty pm and his grandmother had called for him — he was scared because that was the first thing she did as soon as she walked in the house from work. Travis could feel his legs become numb, his system was evilly paralyzed by fear — all that he could think of was Mrs Lee's warning to him. His grandmother usually came home around eleven pm. What if Mrs Lee told Mrs Park everything? The boy simply knew what would happen if that was the case, if Mrs Lee opened her mouth about what happened earlier today at school. Right there, Travis kept hoping and praying for a way out — he was terrified for God's sake.

The shimmering, gold beams of the sun magnificently, almost carefully landed on his skin that quickly glowed with enchanting glee. Hushed — it was completely quiet, only the gentle breeze sang its songs, deep into his ears, making him fall deeper into an abyss of his dreams — so delicate. • The Brightest Shadow: Teenage Days   Study Time!

The time for exams was arriving — little by little, the week quickly came. Everyone was busy preparing for the exams — they even went out of their comfort zones and dared to extend their time at school, staying behind and doing revisions. Travis and David were among those who wanted to go beyond. The boys had swiftly forgotten about an incident that took place four days ago — at least David still kept it within the chambers of his heart and he was quietly investigating whatever that he witnessed. It was no longer a problem for Travis because for some reason, his grandmother gave him full permission to stay behind to study and promised that she would talk with Mr Sok. The two boys were alone in the art room, their usual place. They have been studying mathematics since it was announced that it'll be the first subject they are going to open the examinations with. “...and don't forget to always check your numbers more than once, just to be sure of your answers.” David, who was sitting a

The rising sun gently blew its beams down to the Park mansion, there, where they innocently floated into the kitchen, mischievously landing on Travis's pale face. They meant no harm but Travis swiftly released a loud, sonorous sigh, his forehead wrinkling with irritation. “I knew her silence meant nothing good but was it necessary to have said all those nasty things in David's face? Whoever said I care about the name!?” Immediately after a minute, an agitated Travis whose veiny eyes were flickering with rage that was equally married to fear, hissed through his teeth as quietly as he could. His phone laid heavily on his trembling, sweaty hand as he leafed through its blue screen. His heart was throbbing uncontrollably against his chest as he typed a message to David. That would be the seventh message he'd have to type to his boyfriend whom did not respond since last night. None of the messages were responded or read, not even to mention his calls. That was the reason why Travis was

[Later That Night:]“Have you begun with the search? I need the results as soon as possible; right before any of this get out of hand!” An agitated Mrs Park, who was pacing back and forth, hissed through her clenched teeth. Her features were chiseled, icy, and unyielding, betraying no hint of tender emotions, only those that sent chills down Arthur's spine. She narrowed her eyes at Arthur who was uncomfortably standing still on the same spot, as his eyes followed the hasty movements of his grandmother. “D-don’t worry, I am almost there. I will be done before the schools reopen, I promise you!” Arthur responded shortly after taking a deep breath to hold control over his heart. His hands were carefully placed on his back as he spoke. “How can I not worry when I see that things are falling apart? Those two do not belong together! Their so-called friendship will ruin everything I have built. Thank heavens that nothing has been linked to the media yet.” Mrs Park retorted and quickly wen

“David is the guest. He is invited all of a sudden, but why? Mrs Park has also hired the best, well-known chef because of him. What could be why he was invited and why was I not told?” An agitated Jiyeon silently investigated. Thoughts were swirling in the back of her head, thwarting her from thinking of anything else but them. Her heart was beating heavily, not because she was scared but because she could not wait to finally set her eyes on David, whom he wished the worst had happened to him. With questions invading her head, she lost interest in Arthur and forgot that he was still around. On the other side, Arthur’s heart was jingling with delight watching Jiyeon’s reaction. He quietly ate his apple and finished it all without saying anything else to Jiyeon. Travis and Mrs Park suddenly showed up in the dining room — the maids were already done setting the table. “Oh, come on in, David. Please, don’t be afraid, make yourself at home.” David who was being walked by a guard stood s

[SOMEWHERE AROUND THE WORLD: 6 PM] Right there, in a black SUV, silence rudely lingered, making the quiet young man's heart hammer against his chest with slow, uncalculated moves. His eyes looked down at his sweaty palms, afraid to look up and meet Mr M’s threatening glance. “I see you are moving at a fast pace! That is great! Very good!” Mr M hissed as he applauded. David flinched at the deepness of his voice that casually reverberated across the car. Words hung on his uvula, refusing to come out of his mouth whilst his heart skipped a beat. Not knowing what to say, David bowed as he bit his lower lip. His eyes were still locked on his palms which were now curled into weak fists — not that he would use them on anything or anyone. “I hope you are not rushing just because you want to be debt-free.” Mr M hissed wearing a treacherous smile that instead made David swallow deep. The boy sharply raised his head and glued his eyes on Mr M. “N-no…, that is not the case. I just wa…!” “L

WARNING: HOMOPHOBIC SLURS, READ WITH CAUTION! Crickets hummed a song, slightly soothing the trembling heart of Travis that was in the creaminess of melancholy. The breeze gently kissed his skin, trying to help his body cool but that was a mission impossible. His blood was wildly boiling; veins had long protruded everywhere on his sweat-drenched skin. He nervously clenched his teeth while swallowing deepily; trying to get rid of a lump that was dancing in the chambers of his throat. His dilated eyes with shock sharply darted up and down the blue screen of his phone that for some reason proved to be heavy for his sweating hand. A frown had long glued itself across his forehead, shamelessly finding a temporary home immediately when he had switched his phone on. Questions and thoughts raced in his head, making it

The air became cold. Eyes bulged with unspoken fear as they mysteriously glided over the figure of Jiyeon. The girl had tilted her head to her right, her eyes slyly following every jumpy movement that her mother made. Her smile widened just when she noticed confusion covering the red, wet face of her mother. “You bastard! How could you do that to your own mother!?” Mrs Choi hissed through her trembling lips that were now dry as a hard bone. Her mouth felt like a desert, parched and craving moisture as words played hide and seek in the back of her throat. Beads of sweat lined up across her forehead as her breath became shallow. “Oh dear, I am my mother’s daughter. One bastard gave birth to another bastard.” Jiyeon released an annoyed sigh and chuckled when she caught her mother’s lips trembling. “Did you know, father always thought that I looked nothing like him. Jiyeon bit her lower lip and silently counted to three before she could open her eyes. “It is okay. I want to go…and get them myself.” Squeezing Mrs Park’s hand with her free, uninjured hand, Jiyeon whispered soon after taking a deep breath. Mrs Park stared at the girl for a while and never said a word. She nodded at her driver and the engine of the car they were in growled as it began moving. The car roared out of the Park mansion to a destination where Mrs Park was not so sure they should go to. Jiyeon quietly watched the tall, luxurious buildings pass as the car drove by. Her heart was jingling in the embrace of her ribs, as an unidentified number of emotions collided i

Night descended like a velvet cloak, softly enveloping the world in an inky blackness that seemed to have a texture all its own. The stars twinkled like diamonds scattered across the fabric of the sky, their gentle sparkle casting an ethereal glow over the landscape. The moon, a silver crescent, hung low on the horizon, casting long, sinuous shadows that stretched and twisted like living things. “Thank you.” David who had just come out of the taxi, said as he bowed and watched the taxi drive off. An oppressed sigh found its way out of his lips as he stood in the same spot for a while. His mind was set alight by a fountain of thoughts that made it hard for him to breathe or concentrate on anything else. “A sin? How is it a sin? And why would you find the pleasure in continuing this sin?” Travis’s words rang in the back of his head, poisoning his heart into a temporary melancholy. “Find the pleasure in continuing this sin? Travis did not notice the tall walls that prevented him from seeing the world outside the huge gates. “Fuck…!” He said silently to himself when it had finally dawned on him that he had to sneak out of the house and meet his boyfriend. His blood was running warm as his heart uncontrollably jingled in the chamber of his chest. The longing to see David had become an all-consuming force, a restless hunger that gnawed at his very soul.
