 Episode 14

* Starlight company

Trevor sat down comfortably in his office watching Ryan on tv.

        

 " Wow president, you're really amazing... it's a good thing you hired a reporter to be among them" frank, Trevor's assistant said with a sly smile and Trevor smirked.

        

" Tshh, it's nothing besides...this is what the public really wants to know isn't it. I know Ryan's team would have made sure no reporter ask the most important question so I...just helped out a little" he said and burst into laughter, frank joined him too and he stopped to look at him

        

" And who said you could join me to laugh" he asked with disgust on his face. 

        

" Forgive me sir" frank apologized and he scoffed.

       

" Will you get out of here and let me watch in peace!"

        

 " Yes sir" frank said with a head bow and left the office.

        

" Nonsense" Trevor hissed and faced the television.

     

Last Reporter: "Will you apologize to Mr. Trevor, the one you punched.

 Trevor's smiled wildly when he heard this question.

        

 * good, answer Ryan...* he thought smirking.

The same reporter pressed on, "If you're truly sorry for your actions, apologize to Mr. Trevor right now, publicly."

Ryan's eyes turned cold as he stared at the reporter, he clenched his fits.

"I..."

  

* Come on...say it! Come on!!* Trevor kept screaming in his head, his eyes glued to the screen.

        

 Ryan glared at the reporter and glanced at the audience .

        

 "I am ready to admit that my behavior in the party was uncalled for and highly wrong as a leader of Thomson industries I admit that but...." He paused

        

" I won't ask for any forgiveness because he deserved that" he dropped the bombshell, the whole audience were shocked and whispering filled the air.

        

" Thank you once again for your time" he concluded and walked out while the reporters still kept throwing questions at him.

        

   Trevor couldn't believe his eyes.

 " What...what just happened?...what the f**k happened!!" he shouted angrily and smashed the laptop on the floor.frank heard the noise and came in.

        

 "Sir! Sir! are you alright!" Trevor glared at him and threw a things at him.

        

 " Get out! Get the hell out of my office get out!!!" He yelled angrily. Frightened frank ran out again leaving Trevor by himself.

        

 " How dare you Ryan how dare you humiliate me like this!!... you'll pay for this just you wait" he said breathing angrily.

Landon's house.

* " Won't you ask me anything?" Emily asked again and he turned to face her with a smile.

        

 " That's not important to me right now...you can tell me everything later when you want to...but for now, I just want to see that you're okay" he said sincerely and she smiled gratefully

        

 "Thanks Landon."she said and sighed

        

"I saw him" she said and he looked at her confused but when his eyes met those teary eyes of her's, he understood immediately and sat beside her.

        

" You did? Where how" he asked worriedly,  

        

"On my way for my interview, his car splashed dirty mud water on me...I guess, this world is really small after all" she said and broke into tears. Landon hugged her and she cried on his chest.

        "Please don't cry again em... you're gonna get sick" he comforted. He hates seeing her in pain and right now he wish he could carry all her burdens.

Ryan's office

Ryan stormed into the office, his face red with anger. Tyler followed close behind, trying to placate him. 

        "Boss,I'm sorry about the press conference. I should have vetted the questions better. I'll make sure that reporter never gets credentials to cover our company again."

Ryan stopped in front of his desk, his fists clenched. "It's obviously Trevor's work," he growled, his voice low and menacing. "That bastard..." His heart rate monitor watch began to beep erratically, signaling that his heart rate was spiking.

Tyler quickly handed him a chilled bottle of water. "Boss, calm down. It's not good for you to get this angry. Your heart can't take it." Ryan took a deep breath and tried to calm down, but his anger still showed on his face.

        

 " Am clocking out you take care of things here" he said and walked out of his office, tlyer sighed tiredly.

As Alex scrolled through the comments, her brows furrowed deeper with each passing moment. The hate directed towards her and Ryan was staggering. She couldn't believe how quickly the narrative had turned against them.

        

"Ryan's a total psycho! No wonder he punched Trevor at the party!"

- "I heard Alex was flirting with Trevor all night, no wonder Ryan lost it!"

- "Alex is a slut, She's the reason for all the drama!"

- "Ryan's career is over! He'll never recover from this!"

- "Alex should be kicked out of the entertainment world too! She's just as guilty as Ryan!"

One comment in particular caught her eye: "Alex is a manipulative gold-digger who only cares about herself. She's the reason Ryan snapped at Trevor."

Alex's eyes flashed with anger as she typed out a response, her fingers flying across the keyboard. 

- "Are you kidding me?! You know nothing about what happened! Ryan was not at fault it's all Trevor's fault and gosh why drag me into this mess..."

Just as she tries to post her response, Dan, her manager, snatches the phone from her hand.

" Miss Alex, no! Don't engage with them. It's only going to make things worse," he said firmly.

Alex's face reddened with anger as she tried to wrestle her phone back from him.

        "Give me back my phone!" she demanded, her voice rising. "I need to respond to this!"

 "Am sorry miss Alex. It's best you stay out of this. You can't control what people say online."

Alex's anger boiled over. "How can I stay out of it when they're talking shit about Ryan?" she shouted, her voice echoing off the walls.

Just then, Mr. Brooks, the president of Starlight Management, walked into the room. 

        "Alex, Dan is right and you need to worry about yourself first, not Ryan. This situation is getting out of control, and we need to focus on damage control." He said frimly

Alex's anger turned on Mr. Brooks. "You're just like everyone else!" she screamed, her voice cracking. "You don't care about Ryan or me, you just care about the agency's reputation!"

She slumped back in her chair, mumbling angrily.

 *The next morning, Emily's house.

        

Emily woke up on her bed, she sat up and yawned. Yesterday she came back home late to avoid questions because knowing her mum she would ask questions till she spill the beans which she wants to avoid.

        

  She quickly did her morning business in the bathroom and joined her family for breakfast, the twins were already ready for school.

        

 " Good morning babies how are you?" She asked with a peck on thier cheeks.

        

Ash signed 'great night ' with a smile.

        

" Fine mum but mum, why did you come home late yesterday we were waiting for you" Zander asked

        

" Uh, sorry baby I had something to do" she replied with a smile.

        

 " Okay sweeties go get your bag now and let me take you to your school" grandma grace walked in.

        

 " Good morning mum"Emily greeted

        

 " Morning dear, I'll take the kids to school today so you just rest okay" she said

        

 " Uh you don't have to do that mum, I'll take them let me just..."

        

 " Just rest okay don't stress yourself besides what's wrong taking my grandkids to school hehehe" she smiled and Emily blinked.

        

 " She's just doing this because she knows you're sad..." Lily said and Mrs grace frowned at her

 " Mum?" 

        

  " Tssh don't mind her Emily what a big mouth" Mrs grace said and Lily rolled her eyes

        

 " Am actually fine mum there's nothing..."

        

   " don't lie to me I know you didn't do well at your interview yesterday and that's why you didn't want to come home but it's fine, that's not the only job out there so it's okay " Mrs grace said and patted Emily's shoulder.

        

  *I wish that was the case * Emily thought sadly. 

        The twins were ready and grandma grace took them to school.

  As soon as they left lily faced Emily      

"Now, tell me the real reason why you didn't come home yesterday?" Lily asked and Emily choked on her tea.

        

   " Wha...what are you talking about I. Failed my interview that's why..." 

       

  " Just cut it out and tell me the truth, now" lily said staring at Emily suspiciously.
