The dark lonely night carried with it a sense of mysteriousness. The loud silence was just another one of the unique traits of the forest that embraced the earlier feeling wholeheartedly, walking hand in hand with it. Despite the lack of wind, the leaves still moved in a rhythm familiar to them. The air was chilly, but Calhoun and his guards had gotten used to it. Firoza was huddled between two thick blankets lent over to her by the guards. She lay down asleep as the men all stayed awake, keeping alert. Calhoun thought about his father. He wondered what the man would do if he were to find himself in his situation. An unknown person had the power to lay with ease destruction on an entire city, and they didn't know his agenda; if he was going to be a friend or a foe. Calhoun sighed. One thing about him was that he despised thinking too much about things. Once he saw an opening in any situation he found himself in, he struck it immediately. At least then, he knew what he was fi
Damianos jumped at Calhoun. Calhoun dodged him and swiped at him with his sword. The being dodged and slid back before jumping to attack Calhoun again. They kept on with their exchange of blows, sword versus claws. The clanging of their hits was very loud; it almost drowned out the people screaming. Calhoun made his attack again, which the being stopped with his claws. "Boy, you really should just give up. What's wrong with giving me a woman you barely even know?" Calhoun did not pay any attention to him. He dragged his sword out of his hold and fought back again, giving out strike upon strike. They all kept being blocked by Damianos, who in turn was making his attack on Calhoun. The screams of Calhoun's guards and Firoza were starting to get to him. If their noise didn't stop, he was afraid he would hurt them instead. He struck the being who expertly dodged the attack, then suddenly paused, preparing himself for his next move. "What happened, young man, getting
Elena and her group had made it back to the Red Queen's restaurant. Unlike Wazir, who had eaten till he could drop, Elena, Mac and Forest were starving. Their faces were sullen due to hunger, while Wazir trotted away, oblivious to their situation. "That was filling. Thank you for sharing your meal with me!" He said as they settled down in the restaurant. "You're welcome," Forest answered drily, heading straight to the kitchen. Elena went to her room, leaving Mac and Wazir alone. "So, you asked me to remind you about the Job offer I was seeking?" "Yes, I did. Now, what exactly were you doing before... You know, we found you?" Mac asked, genuinely curious. "Well, I was what you would call a wanderer. I do small jobs for whatever pay you can give. I was just unfortunate when Elena and Forest found me. I wanted to use what I had saved up to enjoy myself." Forest came out of the kitchen, holding two medium-sized bowls filled with food. He placed one in front o
"Elena, are you okay?" Mac asked as he came over to her, his forehead tight with worry. She gave him a huge smile and leaned on her broomstick. "I'm alright. Someone needed to be put in his place." Mac looked unconvinced and trailed his eyes around her, looking for any injuries or signs of harassment. "I'm okay. Forest was with me throughout. He couldn't do anything even if he tried." "Next time he comes again, don't even bother putting up with him, just quickly shout for help," Mac told her. She nodded her head and replied, "Okay then." Mac still didn't look convinced. "Well now that we are all awake, I suggest that we start to get ready for the day." Wazir suddenly broke the silence that had come up. Forest walked over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Looking forward to your first day of work already?" He teased. "You know I am. Now let's get to work." They all went inside the restaurant, with Forest and Wazir leading them at
Elena sat outside the restaurant, studying the night sky. She was sitting on an old chair which she had dragged out of the restaurant. The night breeze felt like a cold caress on her skin, softly blowing her hair as it built up an atmosphere for reminiscing. The Duke, his son and Beau Rage had left earlier. According to Mac, they had left a huge tip behind. Mac was so happy about their achievement he didn't notice that something was wrong with her. Elena didn't even have the heart to tell him how she felt. She knew that there would come a day when she would have to tell them her real identity, but she wanted to enjoy life as a normal citizen, even for a little bit. All their customers finally left when they had eaten their fill. Just like their normal routine after work, they all gathered at a table and counted out their earnings for the day. Thanks to the VIP guests, they made three times more than they normally made in a day, and that was by far a lot. Elena tried to b
Elena and Wazir paved their way through the forest. The evening had come, as the sun had come down from the sky. Elena surmised that the sky would become darker in a few hours, and the stars would appear. "How long would this training last?" She asked, pushing away a branch from her path. "It depends on how fast you learn," Wazir answered, walking in front of her. They walked for a while, silence enveloping them. The crunching noise caused by their footsteps in contact with dry grass and leaves was the only sound that could be heard in the forest. Being in the forest reminded her of her first time in the kingdom of Neba. "Where are we going to?" She asked. "It's kind of my haven," Wazir replied after a while. "I come here whenever I want to clear my head, or get away from, you know.... everything." They both kept quiet, each to their thoughts as they continued down the path Wazir was going to. "Finally, here we are," Wazir called out and paused his wa
Somewhere in another land... Hidden deep inside the covering of a forest existed a cave. Inside stood a gathering of men, all covered in white garb and white hood. There were about a thousand of them. They exuded danger, and their appearance explained their power. They were all humming, chanting in a strange language. The drum hitting could be heard at a three-second interval, and the men all swayed to its rhythm. Suddenly, they all started stomping their feet on the ground, shouting a familiar chant at the same time. Their voices grew higher and higher, and when they heard the sound of a horn, they all went silent. The environment was mysterious and suspicious. Even with their faces covered, one could feel the bloodthirst and devious happiness they exuded. A powerful voice broke the silence in the cave. "Brothers," he called out. His voice could be heard in every area of the cave. "The time has come for us to finally come out. As guided by our Ruler and father,
The Kingdom of Neba... The Red Queen's restaurant. Wazir and Mac huddled together, trying to console a distraught Forest. On their faces were signs of tiredness and worry as they all thought of ways to help Elena. When Forest ran to them with the news, they could not believe their ears and had thought he was joking. Mac's heart shattered as he felt it was his fault. He never meant to involve Elena in his fight with JoĆ¼stin. He never even suspected that JoĆ¼stin would go as far as to carry out a kidnap. They must have pushed him to the edge. Wazir, on the other hand, was broodingly thoughtful. His eyes were scrunched up, an unrecognizable glint shone in his eyes. His mouth was bent into a scowl, and one could only wonder what was going on in his mind. Forest was sitting on a chair, biting his fingernails. His feet were trembling, and he couldn't stop the occasional racking sobs that had been threatening to break out ever since he came to the restaurant. Suddenl

Two months later...It was finally the D-day for Elena and Calhoun's wedding. It has been two months since the warriors and soldiers of the Blood kingdom and the Kingdom of Neba all returned to their kingdoms, respectively. When Elena and her husband arrived back in the Kingdom, the people shouted in joy, chanting cheers of victory. Elena felt overwhelmed by the praise. She wasn't used to that many people liking her. The past king and queen of Neba welcomed her with open arms. They had heard about what had taken place on the field, and they were extremely proud. A vigil was held for the warriors who had lost their lives in battle, and a monument with their names on it was erected in their favor. Families of the late warriors were taken under the care of the Royal family. Once they finally had some private time to themselves, Calhoun didn't waste any more time and immediately started to ravish her. He missed her; immensely. As he held her tightly in his arms, he poured
Elena slowly opened her eyes, trying to get her surroundings. She tried to move, but the pains that racked her body caused her to wince, advising her to remain in the position she was in.āElena? Elena, itās me.ā A voice said to her. She tried to move her head, but it was impossible. She could only stare straight at the tent ceiling. Noticing her dilemma, the voice owner bent to look properly at her. Elena started crying once she saw the face; the tears came out slowly before they poured down like a flood.āCalhoun!ā Elena said, her voice hoarse.āYes, Darling. Itās me.ā He answered. He had also teared up; the joy surrounding his heart was encompassing. āI thought... I thought you were gone.āāYou stupid girl.ā Calhoun said, gently removing a tendril of hair from her face. āThat isnāt enough to kill me. I am the blood king remember? I might not have been as strong as Firoza, but that doesnāt mean I canāt protect myself from attacks. I have powers too.āEle
The war field was engulfed in silence. Then the screaming began. All the people who had their sense of control ripped from them fell to the ground, holding their heads in their hands and screaming their lungs out. It was like a repeat of what had happened in the kingdom of Pres, Wazir thought. Whoever had been controlling them had been killed, and from the look of things, the person had to be Slovic, the huge monster. Wazir wished to be closer to the main battle, but he knew that he was safer inside the barrier. The people there needed someone they could look up to as their main leaders fought. He looked towards the main fighting ground again and hoped that his niece was fine.Elena was panting heavily after killing the monster. The naked body of the man who she had just killed lay on the bloodied ground, his face still in shock even after death. Slowly, Elena rose from the ground as her husband rushed to support her."Are you alright?" he asked, his face drenched
She slammed into Slovic hard, sending him flying several feet away, but she didn't cease in her assault. She was adamant about putting an end to him. His blood, his death, was the only thing that drew her attention. Firoza, she assumed, would attack her if she began to beat up her ally. On the other hand, the woman merely stayed standing, her head cocked. Her face had a thoughtful expression on it.Calhoun stood behind her, ready to intervene if she had any thoughts of retaliating against them. He was anxious about his wife, but he noticed that she had a resolute expression on her face. She wouldn't stop until Slovic was dealt with. She had no choice except to kill him herself. She needed to demonstrate her worth.Calhoun was aware of the situation. He knew that ending Slovic would be a minor inconvenience for him. In reality, he was tempted to do so because of the man's previous treatment of his wife. But he kept his cool and let his wife handle things.Slovic was perpl
"No!" Elena exclaimed, collapsing on her knees next to her father. With shaking hands, she tried to stop his bleeding. It proved futile as his blood gushed out the more. Her father groaned, every part of his body in severe pain. He looked at his daughterāthe daughter he had wronged for years. She had become a woman now, and she was beautiful, just like her mom. However, she carried the majority of her attributes from her maternal grandmother. She was crying over him, and he wanted nothing but to wipe her tears away. She shouldn't worry about him. She was never at fault; he was. He could finally meet his love and tell her about their daughter. He wished he could have spent more time with her. Fate had other plans, it seemed. It was better for him that he died at her hand. He didn't think he would be able to survive if he killed his daughter. He had lost so much already, all for his greed for power. "Don't die," he heard her whisper repeatedly. He wished he could honour her wi
Silence and dread permeated the air. A reddish black smoke rose from the air to the darkened sky, and everyone's view was on it. Elena paused her strike on Slovic to look up at the sky. Calhoun was already facing the encounter with a deep scowl on his face. "What is going on here?" the shrill voice questioned. "Why am I seeing more people than expected?" The smoky cloud surrounding the voice's owner dissipated to reveal Firoza in a black armour gown, her flowing black hair kept loose. She looked around the battlefield with an evil smile, beaming at the soldiers."Not what I had been expecting." Slowly, she made her descent to the ground, several feet from where Elena, Calhoun, and Slovic were. The latter, who was almost unconscious, but was still smiling, called out in a frail voice."Niece, you are finally around. What took you so long?" Firoza turned around to face him and smiled once she saw Calhoun. "Calhoun!" she called out, her expression changing imm
Elena's world shattered into pieces. Everything she had ever believed, everything that she had thought was true, her whole world was built on lies."Oh, I see that my story touched you. That's good. Well it's too bad though, I'll not be able to hear your take on it. You have to die."Elena lay there, not aware of her surroundings anymore. Even after Slovic struck her, causing her to fly several meters away, she still didn't care. Her whole world had just been turned upside down. She landed with a heavy thud against the corpses of soldiers who had been killed. Something in her must-have ruptured because she started choking out blood. Her head was bleeding, the blood flowing to her face and blocking her eyesight. She tried getting up, but she couldn't move her limbs. She planted her elbows steady on the ground, trying to balance herself, yet they gave out, causing her to lie back down. Slovic appeared before her, tsking. "You are not as strong as I thought you were." He said
