The Blood Kingdom... Days had passed, and Elena, Elion, and Forest had finally made the shelter house a bit comfortable for themselves. They had made some friends and had even spoken with some of the blood kingdom citizens. Even though the people looked at them wearily, they were still lovely when dealing with them. Elena's heart, though, wasn't in all the peace. After her discussion with Forest about her dream, she knew that whatever she was linked with was associated with her revenge. Her goal to be even more decisive grew more within her, the urge to practice boiling. They were all on the lawn, taking in the environment. Elena was thinking of telling Elion to practice with her when she heard the sound of a horse galloping towards them. She looked up and saw Aaron atop the horse, and immediately she thought of asking him to train her. "Hey Elion," she called. "I know you don't like Aaron but we can at least use him for our goal, right?" Elion glanced at her dri
They rode silently into the river until they were surrounded by the thick fog surrounding it. "Cover your nose and don't breathe in the fog. It is poisonous too, but can harm your skin." They did as he told immediately they reached the inside of the fog, and after a while, the fog finally cleared to reveal a huge dark gate. By its side were two gigantic statues with hoods over their heads. They were bent as if in prayers, their jointed hands lifted as that of one pleading. They were painted grey, and together with the eerie environment, they gave out a very dangerous appearance. "This is the domain of the blood king. I can't believe this." Forest said as they landed on the other side of the river. Aaron maneuvered the boat to make it easier for them to come out of it. They all stood and made their way gently to the other side of the river. Finally, they stood in front of the ginormous gate. The gate was broodingly tall and dark and screamed of power. Elena shuddered whil
The surrounding darkness was brightened by the torch Aaron carried as they headed to the warriors training grounds. Aaron told them that most of the warriors would still be awake but that they won't be active in the training field, so they had privacy for the rest of the night. The field was precisely how she expected it; huge. There were training equipment that Elena was sure was taller and bigger than her, and she found herself wondering what type of warriors used them to train. Other than that, there was enough space available for them that they could use to prepare. "Take up your fighting stances," Aaron called out after letting them get comfortable with the environment. Elena and Elion turned to look at the other, then did as they were told. Aaron began to pace in front of them. "First of all, I am going to test your knowledge of fighting. You both would give me some fighting stances and sword movements that you know. From there I would be able to decipher where
Calhoun felt that something was different as he stepped into the castle. He took a look at his parents, who smiled proudly at him. His mother was already on the verge of shedding silent tears, and his father was grinning widely. He looked around the castle hall, trying to figure out what made the atmosphere different from when he last left, but he couldn't find anything strange. He walked over to his mother, hugged her, and gave his father a piercing stare. Whatever he saw in his face, his father immediately recognized it as something important. "Welcome back son." He said, his voice booming over the hall. At that, cheers from everywhere, both in the castle and outside, started. He knew why his people cheered, and he understood that they had made a mistake about the situation, a mistake he wasn't yet ready to correct. Firoza was dangerous to everyone, and till he could find a way to protect not only his family and people from her, he would rather keep her close than let
The Kingdom of Pres. A year after Elena's mother's death... Emptiness. That was a feeling Elena was getting used to. That soul-sucking emptiness formed a huge hole in her chest. It's been a year since the death of her mother. Nothing has been the same since then. She looked at herself, as she sat hidden beneath a kitchen table, trying to avoid being caught by anybody. The son of one of her father's ministers has just tried to rape her. Nikoläs was his name. The first time she saw him was on her way to her room from the palace garden. He was with his friend, on who she recognized as the son of Côtan Lokï, her Father's closest advisor. His name was Afang Lokï, and if not for the company he kept, Elena would have deemed him a suitable friend. He was one of the kingdom's heartthrobs. Many girls giggled whenever he walked by. His tall stature and muscular frame caused different series of imaginations by so many girls. Not that they would never have come to p
Elena sat in the room she shared with Elion and Forest, her face a blank mask. Forest sat next to her while Elion kept pacing around the room. "Someone tell me that what I saw below wasn't real." She ranted her face a mixture of pure rage. "Please tell me that the same guy who asked to court our Elena didn't just introduce another lady as his Bride." Elena looked at Elion strangely. It was weird seeing her wired up, especially for a problem that wasn't hers. Forest saw the look she gave his sister and immediately held her hand, caressing it softly. "Don't be sad, even I was deceived by him. I thought he was an honourable man. Who would have known that he was a two-timing snake!" Elena slowly turned to face him. "I know that you might not want to see him now, but leave him to me. I'll go up and confront him. I don't care if he is king." The situation kept getting weirder and weirder for Elena, so she quickly put up her hands. "Enough," she shouted. The

She had struck Jackpot. Firoza couldn't believe it. To think that luck had been on her side all this while. She sighed, smiling as she took in the grandeur of the room assigned to her. It was magnificent. The bed linen was made of the finest sheets, and its beams were made of fine mahogany. The walls were velvet, and despite the windows, there was not a wick of light outside. It was perfect. She had been surprised as they were going towards the forbidden lands. Then she was shocked when they entered the Blood territory and even more shocked when she found out that Calhoun was the King. As if to make it sweeter, the whole land thinks she is the woman Calhoun has an interest in, and if things go her way, he would have no choice but to be genuinely interested in her. As for her other goals, Calhoun had just made her job much easier. ***** Firoza took up the mantle of soon–to–be queen pretty well, Elena thought as she watched the said female runabout, "kindly" g

Two months later...It was finally the D-day for Elena and Calhoun's wedding. It has been two months since the warriors and soldiers of the Blood kingdom and the Kingdom of Neba all returned to their kingdoms, respectively. When Elena and her husband arrived back in the Kingdom, the people shouted in joy, chanting cheers of victory. Elena felt overwhelmed by the praise. She wasn't used to that many people liking her. The past king and queen of Neba welcomed her with open arms. They had heard about what had taken place on the field, and they were extremely proud. A vigil was held for the warriors who had lost their lives in battle, and a monument with their names on it was erected in their favor. Families of the late warriors were taken under the care of the Royal family. Once they finally had some private time to themselves, Calhoun didn't waste any more time and immediately started to ravish her. He missed her; immensely. As he held her tightly in his arms, he poured
Elena slowly opened her eyes, trying to get her surroundings. She tried to move, but the pains that racked her body caused her to wince, advising her to remain in the position she was in.“Elena? Elena, it’s me.” A voice said to her. She tried to move her head, but it was impossible. She could only stare straight at the tent ceiling. Noticing her dilemma, the voice owner bent to look properly at her. Elena started crying once she saw the face; the tears came out slowly before they poured down like a flood.“Calhoun!” Elena said, her voice hoarse.“Yes, Darling. It’s me.” He answered. He had also teared up; the joy surrounding his heart was encompassing. “I thought... I thought you were gone.”“You stupid girl.” Calhoun said, gently removing a tendril of hair from her face. “That isn’t enough to kill me. I am the blood king remember? I might not have been as strong as Firoza, but that doesn’t mean I can’t protect myself from attacks. I have powers too.”Ele
The war field was engulfed in silence. Then the screaming began. All the people who had their sense of control ripped from them fell to the ground, holding their heads in their hands and screaming their lungs out. It was like a repeat of what had happened in the kingdom of Pres, Wazir thought. Whoever had been controlling them had been killed, and from the look of things, the person had to be Slovic, the huge monster. Wazir wished to be closer to the main battle, but he knew that he was safer inside the barrier. The people there needed someone they could look up to as their main leaders fought. He looked towards the main fighting ground again and hoped that his niece was fine.Elena was panting heavily after killing the monster. The naked body of the man who she had just killed lay on the bloodied ground, his face still in shock even after death. Slowly, Elena rose from the ground as her husband rushed to support her."Are you alright?" he asked, his face drenched
She slammed into Slovic hard, sending him flying several feet away, but she didn't cease in her assault. She was adamant about putting an end to him. His blood, his death, was the only thing that drew her attention. Firoza, she assumed, would attack her if she began to beat up her ally. On the other hand, the woman merely stayed standing, her head cocked. Her face had a thoughtful expression on it.Calhoun stood behind her, ready to intervene if she had any thoughts of retaliating against them. He was anxious about his wife, but he noticed that she had a resolute expression on her face. She wouldn't stop until Slovic was dealt with. She had no choice except to kill him herself. She needed to demonstrate her worth.Calhoun was aware of the situation. He knew that ending Slovic would be a minor inconvenience for him. In reality, he was tempted to do so because of the man's previous treatment of his wife. But he kept his cool and let his wife handle things.Slovic was perpl
"No!" Elena exclaimed, collapsing on her knees next to her father. With shaking hands, she tried to stop his bleeding. It proved futile as his blood gushed out the more. Her father groaned, every part of his body in severe pain. He looked at his daughter—the daughter he had wronged for years. She had become a woman now, and she was beautiful, just like her mom. However, she carried the majority of her attributes from her maternal grandmother. She was crying over him, and he wanted nothing but to wipe her tears away. She shouldn't worry about him. She was never at fault; he was. He could finally meet his love and tell her about their daughter. He wished he could have spent more time with her. Fate had other plans, it seemed. It was better for him that he died at her hand. He didn't think he would be able to survive if he killed his daughter. He had lost so much already, all for his greed for power. "Don't die," he heard her whisper repeatedly. He wished he could honour her wi
Silence and dread permeated the air. A reddish black smoke rose from the air to the darkened sky, and everyone's view was on it. Elena paused her strike on Slovic to look up at the sky. Calhoun was already facing the encounter with a deep scowl on his face. "What is going on here?" the shrill voice questioned. "Why am I seeing more people than expected?" The smoky cloud surrounding the voice's owner dissipated to reveal Firoza in a black armour gown, her flowing black hair kept loose. She looked around the battlefield with an evil smile, beaming at the soldiers."Not what I had been expecting." Slowly, she made her descent to the ground, several feet from where Elena, Calhoun, and Slovic were. The latter, who was almost unconscious, but was still smiling, called out in a frail voice."Niece, you are finally around. What took you so long?" Firoza turned around to face him and smiled once she saw Calhoun. "Calhoun!" she called out, her expression changing imm
Elena's world shattered into pieces. Everything she had ever believed, everything that she had thought was true, her whole world was built on lies."Oh, I see that my story touched you. That's good. Well it's too bad though, I'll not be able to hear your take on it. You have to die."Elena lay there, not aware of her surroundings anymore. Even after Slovic struck her, causing her to fly several meters away, she still didn't care. Her whole world had just been turned upside down. She landed with a heavy thud against the corpses of soldiers who had been killed. Something in her must-have ruptured because she started choking out blood. Her head was bleeding, the blood flowing to her face and blocking her eyesight. She tried getting up, but she couldn't move her limbs. She planted her elbows steady on the ground, trying to balance herself, yet they gave out, causing her to lie back down. Slovic appeared before her, tsking. "You are not as strong as I thought you were." He said
