It’s her.
She was running towards us, tears streaming down her cheeks. Reaching us, she flings her arms at me, wrapping them around my neck tightly and I hold her close to me in a hug, and at that moment I feel her body shaking.
My hands protectively go around her, holding her close.
She looks up at me with tears in her eyes. The once daring gaze she held was gone, and seeing her like this tagged at my heart.
"Help me. Please." Her voice is shaky and her trembling hands tightly hold the back of my shirt, as if scared to be pulled away.
Putting a strand of hair behind her ear, I wipe the tears from her cheeks but they just keep on coming.
"Am not going to let anything happen to you," I say with promise in my words and I mean every word.
"Let's go." I immediately told Xander.
"Give me the girl."
Turning I see one of the men from the restaurant.
The girl immediately goes behind me hiding and I feel her whole figure tremble in fear.
"Please don't let them take me." She quivers behind me.
"She's with me, so leave," I tell the man.
Chuckling he takes a step closer. "You don’t want to get involved. Just give me the girl."
"Didn't you hear me?” I say. “She's staying with me."
"Look, we don't want to cause any trouble here," Xander says.
"So how about you just leave."
The man takes a few more steps towards us, now standing in front of me and daringly holding my gaze.
"And I said give me the girl." He goes to touch her and I push him back.
“Back off.” My voice comes out rough.
With a snarl he comes at me, his fist connecting with my jaw and I stagger back losing my footing and the girl behind me gasps.
And just like that, a fight breaks out between me and the man. I lay a few punches on him but he seems determined as he comes at me. He put out a nice stiff left, which he planned to follow with a right cross. I slipped to the left, which threw him off enough so that I could step inside the right cross and get a handful of his hair. Pulling his head forward and breaking his nose with my head. My hand gripping his shoulders I knee him in the stomach and slam his head on the hood of the truck. He grunted and went limp. When I stood back, he slowly slid off the hood and lay on the ground with his mouth open.
“Now we just got involved in something.” Xander shakes his head in worry.
"Come on, let's go." I take her hand in mine.
Xander goes to the driver's side and before I even open the passenger's door, the sound of a gun fired in the air leaves us frozen in our tracks.
Two men approach us, both with guns in hand.
Who are these people? My brow furrows and I try to think of what things this girl is entangled in.
"Don’t dare take another step or I'll shoot." One of them says as he looks at his friend who was recovering on the ground.
“Stand up you idiot.” He orders.
The guy on the ground with a grunt stands up, spitting up some blood and whipping his nose, he walks up to me and the anger in his eyes says he’s probably going to kill me.
He reaches out to take the girl and I hold on tight to her other hand.
"Please no...." She whimpers. “Don’t let them take me.” never-ending tears trickling down her cheeks.
"I warned you not to get involved, asshole." The guy says throwing a hard punch at me causing me to stagger back but I still don’t let go of her hand.
He connects another punch with my jaw, then another, a hard blow to the stomach leaves me hunching over, the girl's hand no longer in mine. Xander takes a step to help me but he gets a gun pointed at him.
"No!..." The girl screams as one of the men drags her away, he hoists her over his shoulder, carrying her away.
“You won't get away with this.” I spit out, standing up.
The man with the gun who seems to be in charge walks to me and points the gun straight to my forehead, a witty smirk plastered on his face.
“I could pull the trigger right now but you would just leave a mess in this parking lot.” he smiles. “ But we don’t want that, do we?”
Clenching my jaw I stare at him head-on not backing down and his gaze flickers as he takes a step back.
Laughing he says. “ You are not from around here, are you? Don’t get involved or you might just end up six feet in the desert.”
“And if you don’t want to end up in jail, you should give the girl to me.” I threatened him.
With a chuckle, he comes at me throwing punches and I try avoiding my arms raised to block them. A hard blow to the stomach makes me crouch down, his knee connects with my face leaving me on the ground. He then repeatedly kicks me in my ribs.
This hurts like hell.
"Stop!... Stop!.." I could hear Xavier shouting. "Stop okay!... We won't get involved." He says he couldn't do anything because he had a gun to his head.
This situation made me realize these guys really would leave us six feet in the desert and that they aren't just any ordinary kidnappers, something big must be going on here because the people in the parking lot just stared, and walked passed not wanting to get involved.
My eyes are heavy and I look around trying to see where they took the girl, I catch a last glimpse of her still on the shoulder of the man who took her as he puts her in a USV.
"You should have just given us the girl." The guy says before I feel the butt of his gun hit the back of my head.
The pain at the back of my head surges through my head and darkness Immediately takes over.
Hands trembling, I fold them to my chest as I lay in a ball position on the bed. I was sweating like hell even though I felt cold and was shaking, my muscles hurt just wanted to lay where I was and not get up. I can do this. The chant that has been in my head for the past hour now, telling myself that I don't need the drugs, I can survive this on my own even though the last thread to that thought was slowly shattering. I have lost count of how many days I have been here. Sean has made sure to dope me with drugs that I can't get away from, crack and heroin being some of them. The security watching me is tight and any escape attempts have only gotten me in trouble. Yesterday was the only day Sean let me go outside as his way of showing me that I can get an amount of freedom if I continue to do what he wanted and it was also my only chance of escape. So when I saw that guy again at the mall I took my chance by running from my guards and going to him but that attempt failed. I just
"Fucking find her!" I yell into the phone before disconnecting it. "You can't keep going like this," Xander tells me. It has been a week since she was taken and I still haven’t found her. I am so angry with myself that I couldn't protect her.She begged me to save her, to take her away so they couldn't take her, tears in her eyes pleading with me. She was scared. God knows what she has been through, what those people do to her. Just thinking about it makes me angry. "Why are you so worked up over a girl you don’t even know," Xander says sitting next to me on the couch. Sighing I look at him. "I might not know her but I feel like protecting her," I say. "And after that night with her, I wanted to get to know her, so am going to do whatever it takes to save her from whatever trouble she's in." "We told the police about it so they've got it covered," Xander says. "And it's time we went home now, our work here in vegas is done." "I can't just leave Xander," I tell him. "At least w
I was lying on the bed when the door opened, and Sean walked in.Coming to sit at the foot of the bed, he takes a long puff from his cigar."How are you doing cupcake." He asks.Ignoring my unresponsive attitude, he continues to say. "Tonight, I have a job for you." He tells me. "You'll be entertaining an important client."Surprised and scared, I sit up to face him."What do you mean?" I ask."I have been offered good cash for my finest and best." He tells me.A nervous laugh escapes my lips. "What do you mean? I never dance for anyone.""Well, this client is different." He says. "And I am still disappointed in you, so you might as well pay for your mistake because it cost me."At this moment, my heart was racing. Was he finally tired of me letting others see me? I can't let this happen. I have to find an excuse to avoid this.Laying back down, I mumble."Am tired,"Chuckling, he says. "Then don't show it." With a quick inhale from his cigar, he lowers it into the ashtray. His tight g
It's him."You." We both say at the same time.A huge smile plasters on his face, and in one stride he has me in his arms in a tight hug. I don't know why but tears start to fall down my cheeks, my heart feeling heavy as he holds me tight. My hands are shaky as I wrap them around his torso."I am so glad to see you." He breathes, his voice low in my ear.Pulling away, he holds my face in his hands, wiping away the tears with his thumb. He Puts a strand of hair behind my ear, then kisses my forehead.Seeing him here, right now, in front of me, brought so many emotions that I couldn't say a word but stare at him. I felt happy and relieved that he was here but my heart suddenly dropped in fear and I took a step back, out of his embrace.Confused, he asks. " What's wrong?" taking a step forward and I take one back."How are you here?" I ask him. "Are you one of them?""What?...No!""Then how did you afford me, I have never been given to anyone," I tell him."Look, I came here instead of a
My eyes snap open when I feel freezing water poured on me. My vision was blurry as l tried to take in my surroundings, I was seated in a chair, and my arms and legs wouldn't budge when I tried to move. "Ah, Mr. Reid. You're finally up." A voice says.My vision cleared, and I took in my situation, I was in a space, probably a warehouse, tied down to a chair which explained why I couldn't move, and in front of me was a desk with a man swiveling in his chair. He had a hard, rough face with a scar on his left eyebrow, and looked at me with a smile. My voice is low and rough, I ask. "Where is Hailey?" "She's fine." He smiles. "Let us talk business first." "What do you want?" "It has come to my notice that you, Mr. Reid are an important man, and killing you would be a waste." He starts. "So I want us to make our meeting worthwhile. So let's make a deal." "What deal?" "Am glad you asked." He beams. "You give me money in exchange, I let the both of you go." "How much do you want, hu
"Hunter?..." Coughing, I sit up."Hunter...." He lay on my lap, not moving.Brows furrowed, I shake him. "Hunter.."His body slides off my lap, which is when I notice the blood. Panic sets in me when I take in the situation that he was shot."Hunter..." I cry out.Assessing the wound, he has been bleeding out for a while since there is a puddle of blood under him. How long has he been out?Panicking, I look around to see a door at the far end of the warehouse.Searching for a pulse, I find one but weak. I have to get him out of here before he completely bleeds out.Putting all my strength into it, I lift him dragging him towards the door, only to fall to the ground. He's too heavy for me to carry out of here.Tears stream down my face as l look at his pale face. "I am not going to let you die," I say to his unconscious frame. My eyes slowly opening am met with a white ceiling, a sketchy smell of medicine fills my nose as my mouth feels dry and sour. I hear a beeping sound.Looking around, I realize I am in a hospital bed with needles in my skin. In a second, he's next to me. "You're finally awake.""Hey, buddy.." I smirk."I was so worried the day you didn't come back from the club, and the next thing I know am getting a call from your dad saying that you were shot!" He rumbles. "You do you know what tight spot you had me in...I didn't even know how to explain to your father how you got shot!...dude!"Laughing, I say. "I'll be careful next time I go to a club."Sighing, he pats my shoulder. "Glad you're okay, man."Looking around, I feel a bit uneasy."Don't worry, she just went to get some coffee," Xander s
" Your bail is here. " Standing I smile at the young handsome police officer who also happens to be my friend with benefits.Jack was an intern police officer who came to Los Angeles a month ago. We immediately hit it off after I spent a few times getting arrested. Pouting, I say. "Already?... I just got settled in." Unlocking the door to my cell, Jack chuckles. "Can I stop arresting you for once?" "That is if you stop interrupting my place of work." Walking past him, I go to the front where I see my dad sitting in the waiting area clad in his blue, expensive suit looking completely out of place in a police station. Noticing me, he stands up without a word and walks out of the station. I am not going to hear the end of this one. "Let this be the last time Haley," Jack shouts after me as I leave. Winking, I smile. "Not making any promises." Outside I find the car parked in front. Once sitting in the back next to him, he nods to the chauffeur Pete, we drive off. A side gla

I was going through some files when the door to my office flung open. "You should get a life." My best friend and pain in the ass Xander says."What do you want?" I ask not even sparing him a glance."I'm here to save you from yourself." He says. "Let's go out tonight."Sighing, I look at him. "I have some work to do."Taking the seat in front of my desk he says with a sigh. "Look it's been two weeks now and you can not still be hung over that one night stand."He just had to bring her up. I wouldn't say I was hung over her but yes I still couldn't get her out of my head. After that day she left my apartment, it was like she disappeared into thin air because I never saw her again, and trust me I have been looking for her but now I was slowly starting to give up. I guess you can’t find someone who doesn’t want to be found. I didn’t care if this made me look desperate but I liked and wanted to get to know her more, so as someone who's always determined I wanted to find her and at leas
