What if?

CHAPTER SIX

~ALEXANDER~

"I panicked when I saw James's number. Especially when he called her after. I was grateful that he didn't mention the fact that he wasn't the one who called me."

Damien was already laughing so hard by the time I finished my story.

"I guess she didn't ask why he called you," Damien replied.

I nodded and continued eating my lunch. I perceived a strong perfume that I was already familiar with and lifted my head to see Sally walking in with elegance.

I tried signalling her by winking at her so she would eat with me. I knew this was the only restaurant she would have lunch, and I wanted people to see that I was close to my wife.

She didn't even turn towards my direction. She broke into a smile, and I traced her eyes to see that she was smiling at James. I tightened my grip on my spoon when she settled with him instead.

I gulped, trying to hide my anger.

"Are you okay?" Damien asked, staring at me with a furrowed brow.

"Sally is with James," I told him.

"It's all business. Never mind them, " he told me.

I looked away from them and tried to concentrate on my food. I found myself stealing glances at her and James.

I would stir my food for the seventeenth time before I tasted a spoon from it. I found myself chewing a spoonful for close to an hour.

"I knew it that she would be just like her friend, " I told Damien.

"You are like that, too," Damien told me.

He picked up the serviette and wiped his mouth with it.

"You slept with her friend before your wedding."

"She seduced me," I defended. "After all, I was supposed to meet with her and not her friend."

"And, you paid back by sending her rings through a dispatch rider?" He asked me. "Come on, Alex. You don't need to be so harsh on the woman. "

"Are you even on my side?" I asked Damien.

"Of course," he replied. "Since you're not in love with each other. You should advise her to meet her man in private places instead. Or better still, at his house."

I eyed Damien and continued eating my food. I tried to convince myself that it was just a business meeting, and others would think the same thing.

My phone began to ring again. I stared at the screen, and James was badly written on it.

I needed to find another name. Maybe someone else who's also cheating with someone's wife or husband. So, I could edit Beverly's name.

I pressed the red button.

"I thought you already warned the girl to stay away from you?" Damien asked.

"She's too loose," I replied. "She wouldn't listen to me."

I knew I would never have anything to do with someone as loose as Beverly.

"Are you sure that she doesn't have something important to tell you?" Damien asked.

I knew where he was driving.

"For her to keep calling?" I asked. "She just wants me in her bed. What else?"

Damien chuckled.

I turned to Sally. James was doing the talking while she kept laughing uncontrollably. I shook my head and faced Damien again.

"She told me we really need to talk. Of course, it has to be about sex."

Damien shook his head.

"Why do you think so?" He asked me.

"Someone who disappeared right after the wedding. Only for her to text me that she needed my attention. I thought she was a serious person and went to help..."

"And she kissed you, and Sally almost caught you both," Damien interrupted me.

Throughout the chat, I kept staring at Sally from the corner of my eyes. It no longer looked like a business meeting.

I didn't want to create a scene, but they already did with the way they were all over each other.

The lustful look in James's eyes as he stared at my wife.

"We would talk about this some other time," I told Damien before standing up.

I stood up and walked towards their table. Sally's eyes went wide when she saw me, but she immediately lowered her face to the food and continued to eat.

James stopped eating and taking. He lifted his eyes and fixed his gaze on me.

I thought her call was exaggerated last night, but seeing her like this. It changed my mindset, and I completely agreed that she wasn't different from Beverly.

"Birds of same feather always flock together," I whispered with a smile playing all over my face.

Sally lifted her head with a smile. She pretended that she had just seen me, and I chuckled inwardly.

"Hello," she called out and paused for a while before adding. "Love. "

"Why are you having dinner with this?" I paused and turned to Whites.

I stared at him from his head down to his toe and up to his head again..

"Man," I landed.

I didn't want to be much of a troublemaker. Everyone present at the restaurant had their eyes on us.

I didn't care because no one would know I was making trouble. Aside from the two in front of me who could hear me.

While I boiled in anger badly from within. I acted so calmly, cool, and relaxed. The way moved my body effortlessly.

Damien didn't bother to come with me. He knew me too well already.

"I am only here for business, Alex," Sally replied without even sparing me a glance.

I nodded.

"Business's you say," I mocked. "Why were you laughing like you would win a lottery if you laughed the best?"

Sally scoffed.

"Don't be ridiculous."

"Does she not have the right to laugh wh..."

"Shut the hell up, Whites!" I shut James up before he could finish his statement.

I turned to him with a dark look. I stared at him for a while like that before I straightened my face.

"Why don't you grab a seat and join us then?" James asked with a smile.

I didn't look at him. I bit my teeth hard and maintained a calm look outside. My gaze was fixed on Sally, who was eating and pretending like she could not see me anymore.

I wanted to threaten Sally, I wanted to grab her by the neck and throw her out through the window.

But I didn't want to get violent in public. I decided that whatever I would say to Sally would not be in front of James.

"You look so pretty, Alex," James began to speak.

I turned to face him, so I would watch him finish his statement. I placed both hands in my pocket and took a step forward.

You would have been named Princess Alexa instead."

I could swear that I heard Sally giggle. I turned to her sharply, and she shifted on her chair.

James leaned forward with a smirk.

"Would you tell your mom, now?" He asked me.

I wanted to push their food down the table, but I swallowed it all in.

The night would be really cold, and I made up my mind to make Sally sleep out. I would order the guards to make sure she doesn't leave the compound.

She wouldn't sleep in the mansion either.

With that, I smirked at them and turned to walk away, but my phone began to ring again, betraying me.

"James," I mumbled under my breath.

I turned to Sally. She had seen the name, too, and had now turned to James.

She looked back to me, and I hurried out of the restaurant.

When I got to my jeep, I saw Damien running towards me. The guards opened the back door for us to climb in.

The driver drove off immediately, and the guards followed behind in my camry.

I stared at my screen while we drove off, and it was still ringing with the name James Whites displayed on the screen.
