Chapter 4: The Wedding's Gone Wrong

Sydney McCarthney's Point of View

It's been month after the engagement party and today is the end of my single era. It's my wedding day.

I was wishing that Zyko will not come to this wedding. However my family's plan will be ruined and I'm sure they will blame me for it.

"Are you ready for your wedding," My mother asked me.

I just looked at her and smile.

"I'm dishonest if I said yes."

"Stop your drama, Syd," she warned me.

"I am not, Mom. I am just being honest," I replied and look at her in the mirror. "I told you if I had a choice, I will not agree to this marraige."

My mother held my arm. " Don't do anything stupid, lady. I am warning you."

It's me and my mother inside the hotel we rent near the church where the wedding will be held. In this hotel also will be the venue of our reception.

"I won't. Just let my arm go," I said while pretending that I wasn't hurt.

I feel how her long nails dug into my skin and it's hurt.

She let go my arm and shoot me a sharp look. She compose herself first before giving me a wide smile.

She is pretentious and evil.

"Be ready and compose yourself. It's your wedding day, don't ruined it." After that, she turned her back on me and walked out from the room.

I looked at myself in the mirror and let out a sad smile. This will be my unlucky day.

I stood up and open the door to call the stylist to help me. I'm done with my make up and everything. I just want to go to the church to finish this damn wedding. I'm just tired and want to rest.

"Help me with my wedding gown. We have to go the venue."

They just nodded their head without asking. They help me with my wedding gown, and I just walked going to the elevator.

We are in the 3rd floor of the hotel and it's not that hard to travel through the ground floor. The whole hotel is being rented by the two families which is the Mufasa and McCarthney family.

When we arrived at the ground floor, I walked like a queen and owned the whole floor. I walked through the entrance, and the driver of my bridal car went to my direction with umbrella's in his arms.

He opened the door for me, I went inside and my stylist help me with my wedding gown. They already closed the door when they're done with my gown. They have their own car to go to the venue of my wedding.

The driver went inside the car. He even congratulate me for my wedding today. He didn't know that the wedding is all about business. There's no love between us.

"Let's go to the church," I command.

The driver just nodded his head. He started to open the engine and drove the car through the church slowly as if he was taking care of me.

"Do you think this marraige will work?" I asked the driver.

I feel bored, so I want this driver to entertain me.

"If you love the person, Ma'am. Your marraige will work," He replied.

If I love the person? I chuckled a little bit.

"How so? Does really love is the foundation of marraige?" I asked again.

"There are two elements in a marraige, Ma'am. It's love and trust. If one of them is missing, then it won't work," he replied.

"But love can be learn," I uttered softly.

But love without trust is nothing.  I said to my mind.

I didn't say a word again and just looked outside the pathway until we arrived to the church.

"Ma'am, if you don't love him, don't go ahead with the marriage. But if you think you can learn to love him, go ahead. Just like you said, love is learned."

I just nodded at him and smiled. He got out of the car to open the door for me. I looked outside and there were too many people, they were all looking at the car I was riding.

I was about to leave when our wedding organizer suddenly came to my car.

"Ma'am, please don't go out in the car because the groom is not here yet," she said.

Inside me wants to celebrate the good news. But I have to pretend that I was mad that he is not coming.

"Why isn't he here yet? Shouldn't he have been here a while ago?" I frowned while asking.

"Has anyone called him yet?"

"Yes, Ma'am, we have been contacting him for a while now and he is not answering. His phone is dead," she replied.

I prayed that he would never come to our wedding.

"Call him again. I don't want to be embarrassed to our family and friends, " I said angrily.

The organizer just nodded in response. She closed the door and I leaned my head on the headboard of the backseat.

I squeezed my eyes and prayed that he would not come.

Lord, hear my prayer. If this marriage will not be good to me. Don't let Zyko come to our wedding.

But my hope faded when I saw his car outside the church— when I saw him walking  inside the church.

Does he really want me to contiue this wedding?

I composed myself and faked a smile.

I guess, it is what it is.

The organizer went to my car again to tell me that the groom had arrived.

He helped me out of the car to the entrance of the church. The door was closed and we were the only ones outside.

Daddy was next to me while Mommy was inside the church. They waited for me while Daddy walked me down the aisle.

When the door opened I could hear the beautiful music. I walk down the middle of the red carpet with Daddy towards the aisle. They were all looking at me even Zyko. But my gaze was focused on only one person, the person waiting for me at the aisle.

His face looks like he's from crying. His eyes were red and he also looked like he's drunk.

When I got to the aisle, Daddy immediately gave my hand to Zyko. Daddy left a message for him.

"You're drunk," I said immediately as we started walking towards the priest.

"And so? I'm just celebrating because I'm getting married to you," he replied. "Aren't you happy?"

I just shook my head at what he was saying.

When we finally arrived in front of the priest, the ceremony immediately began. I just listened and answered the priest's questions to me.

After the wedding, we, family, and friends took pictures before we went to the reception.

I was very tired when I entered the bridal car with Zyko. We were both silent when the driver entered. Maybe the driver also knows that my husband and I are not getting along.

My husband? Disgusting!

I will never treat him as my husband. A man like him will never be my husband.

He is fucking drunk when he arrived at the ceremony. He's also damn late.

"Aren't you going to talk?" He asked.

I rolled my eyes. "I have nothing to say. And I'm not in the mood to waste my saliva on you."

"Don't act there because we will be together forever. You know there is no turning back. You will live by my side forever."

"I'm not acting, Mister. I'm just stating the fact that I will be wasting my saliva on talking to you." I frowned. "I'm wishing earlier that you wouldn't come but yeah how unlucky I am that you came."

He chuckles that made me annoy. "Like I have  said, I will make your live mesirable for choosing to marry me."

"So be it... even I don't marry you. My life is already mesirable. Because of this fucking marraige everything has gone, my dream and my life."

He fell silent and never spoke again. I just looked outside as we made our way back to the hotel.

I know the reception is very tiring and I hope it ends soon because I want to rest. I want to sleep so that I have the strength to face the misery that Zyko will give into my life.

I'm not afraid of his punishment. I already know that he just agreed to this marraige to ruined me— to get even.

"Smile, Mrs. Mufasa because the show has just started."
