Chapter 23

Amelia stepped out of the car and took a deep breath, feeling the cool night air fill her lungs. She felt relieved after talking to Perry and going out to clear her head. The pressure of living in Andrew's mansion was suffocating her, and she needed some time to herself.

She made her way up the marble steps and through the grand entrance. As she walked through the familiar halls of the mansion, she hesitated for a moment, dreading the thought of going back inside. She knew what was waiting for her: Andrew's stern face.

She took a deep breath before opening the door to Andrew's room. As she stepped inside, her eyes were drawn to Andrew, who sat in his wheelchair, his piercing gaze fixed upon her.

"Why did it take you so long to return?" Andrew asked, his voice cold and accusing.

Amelia swallowed hard. "I lost track of time."

"Did you go somewhere else before Perry's house?" he asked, his eyes narrowing.
