Chapter 118

Amelia ran as fast as she could, her heart pounding in her chest. She had to keep moving, had to get as far away from the hospital as possible. Finally, she stopped near a restaurant, panting and out of breath.

She leaned against a pole and turned back to see how far she had gone. The sun was blazing down on her, and she felt dizzy and thirsty. She cursed herself for forgetting to collect her phone from Andrew's car - she was completely cut off from the world now.

Amelia reached into her back pocket and brought out some loose change. It wasn't much, but at least it would be enough to buy water before she started to figure out what to do next. The park where she was supposed to meet Perry tomorrow was still far away.

Taking a deep breath, she walked into the restaurant. The cool air hit her face as she swung the door open, and she felt a small sense of relief. She slumped into the first seat she saw, exhausted and disoriented.
