Lovers escapade

Adam’s POV

“Eve?” I called, frowning at the sounds that reached my ears through the car radio. Was she crying? What on earth had happened? I had left her some minutes ago, watched her walk through the estate before driving away from the cafe. Hell, I was still on the road.  

And everything looked fine to me.  

Had her husband returned from work? Had he hurt her?  

“A-adam,” she hiccuped and I felt my heart race faster. Without thinking, I turned the car around and headed back for the estate, all the while trying to get her to tell me what exactly was wrong.  

“Eve… Eve, baby, breathe okay? I'm on my way, just breathe.” 

“I… I was so scared,” she cried, 

She was scared? That meant whatever happened had passed.
