Adam's POV
"And here we see a rise in sales, which is quite wonderful considering the mall will soon be inaugurated..."
I droned out the voice of my sale's manager, my mind entirely far away from the sales meeting we were having.
Don't get me wrong. I was glad that sales were going quite fine. Thousands of employees of the Stone Foundation and its affiliates depended on profits qe raked in monthly. I just wasn't so worried about it at the moment.
Not as worried as I was about Eve.
The look on her face when I walked away that day stuck in my head. I had called several times after that. Her phone was either damaged or lost. Her line was unreachable.
What had Tom done to her?! My hands balled into fists at the thought and I gritted my teeth.
Coward, my mind accus
Adam's POV"W-What is this?" I whispered, stooping down to watch the screen in disbelief. Why was there a video of Tom laying hands on Eve?I watched her lips move on the screen “I am your success, Tom Harrison -”“Shut your damn mouth!” Tom yelled, grabbing her hair and slammed her into a table. I winced, gritting my teeth in anger, then tightened my fist.I felt my heart racing as I watched the scene unfold on the screen in front of me. The fury that had been simmering within me for so long now boiled over."Get your hands off her!" I roared, my voice filled with a primal anger that I had never experienced before.I'll kill him," I hissed, anger brewing within, threatening to spill. "I'll fucking kill him!""Adam-"&nb
Tom's POVMy morning was perfect. So fucking perfect. I woke up to a docile wife who seemed to have learned her lesson. Whatever it was that had possessed her the day before seemed to have left her.Good. She had been a damned persistent bitch.Well unless she was starting to enjoy the pain and beatings. I grinned at the thought, as the warm shower ran down my back. Oh I had plenty more where that came from.My hands weaved through my hair, scrubbing and washing trying to get rid of the grime and dirt in it. It was an almost perfect day.Just almost. Perhaps it was because I hadn't stayed up late outside, trying not to lose my shit whenever Barlow tried to make me do things. I hadn't forgotten about him scamming me out of my well earned profit.I hadn't forgotten about him lying about
Eve's POVI sat in the living room, trying not to look as devastated as I felt. There was a drowning feeling that seemed to envelope and overwhelm me.The event of that morning, recalling how Tom had almost taken me against my own will. If that call hadn't come in, with that crazy look in his eyes, he would have definitely raped me.Not like it hadn't happened before. It happened several times. Numerous times. I was married to a monster after all.But not for long, a voice in my head reassured me.Tears burned the corner of my eyes as I tried to calm my shaky nerves. I still waited for a response from Mrs Stone and Anabelle. Nuren swore she had given them the camera footage and the documents that showed that Tom was involved in child trafficking. My phone had been seized by T
Tom's POVThe cops were everywhere. From the gates, to the mansion, to all the places I could see. Their sirens were loud and they swallowed every fucking place. I sat in a cafe just directly opposite the entrance to the estate where I lived, staring at the whole shenanigans going on a few meters away.Of all the things I had thought would happen today, this was the least of them. For starters, I never would have thought that Adam Stone would find it about the deal with Barlow. I never thought he would know, and most definitely not through a video.A damned video. My mind replayed the scene at the restaurant over and over. The video. Someone had taken it alright. It had been that of two days ago when Eve had acted up and was being a petulant little bitch. My brows furrowed as dots began to connect in
Adam's POV"We're still on the prowl Mr Stone, we'll keep a look out and whatever news there is, we'll be sure to convey that to you," the police chief's voice filtered through the phone. His words did not give me relief. At least not like I had hoped it would. Tom hadn't been found yet. That bastard was sneaky. I ought to give him that credit. When he had walked into the restaurant ready to deny ever being involved in a crime, I could have sworn that if I hadn't had proof, I could have believed with how strongly he spoke, trying to convince me that he wasn't involved in any crime. But the minute he realized that the gig was over, he had bailed. It had been something like an action movie. He had raced out past the back of the restaurant. When the police men had tried lunging after him, he had taken down one with his fists and bailed, bar
Eve's POV"Eve!"My eyes fluttered open in an instant.Darkness. It swirled around me with that suffocating pressure, threatening to choke the air out of my lungs. Hands wrapped around my throat, trying to adjust. Trying to breathe.Trying to survive.Suddenly a light came on in the distance. It seemed rather far. A little too far but it was comforting. I hated the darkness. Tom had known this weakness and made sure to exploit it just so he could control me like he wanted. And it worked. It worked every time.I struggled, trying to make my way towards that light. I couldn't see or feel anything. Except that light. Just that light."Help me!" I yelled as I drew nearer. There was someone holding the light. I couldn't make out his face. I couldn't m
Tom's POV"That bastard!" I spat as I scaled down the wall with Eve, gritting my teeth in disgust.I had watched him stroll with her. As if she were his. As if he had the right to.Now it all seemed to be clear. To be so fucking clear."Take her to the spot," Barlow ordered, jumping in right after me. "I'll signal the men."After a whole damned argument session with Barlow, he finally agreed to help. But what could possibly be much more valuable to Adam Stone? If we could get him to take back the charges and then say he had come up with the fake proof and lied that we were trafficking then everything would be solved. There was nothing the word of a billionaire could not accomplish. But the problem however had been discovering how to make Adam Stone give in. I had snuck into his mother's hou
Adam's POV"Your mother says, your little miss Eve is hanging around somewhere,"Those were the first words Micheal said when I met him at the gate. He had the damned cocky grin on his face as if something permanently amused him."Perhaps I do," I chuckled, slipping my hands in my pocket. "With that grin on your face, I'm not so sure I want you to meet her.""Oh please, I have to. I need to know the woman who makes you do the craziest of shit," Micheal crackled, walking ahead of me into my mother's house."Try not to say shit when you meet her,""Shit like what?" he asked innocently and I just knew he was going to try something crazy when he saw Eve.We stopped by Mom's study to say."Hello, boys," Mom greeted us with a warm smile. She looked
