Nightmare

Eve's POV

"Eve!" 

My eyes fluttered open in an instant.  

Darkness. It swirled around me with that suffocating pressure, threatening to choke the air out of my lungs. Hands wrapped around my throat, trying to adjust. Trying to breathe.  

Trying to survive.  

Suddenly a light came on in the distance. It seemed rather far. A little too far but it was comforting. I hated the darkness. Tom had known this weakness and made sure to exploit it just so he could control me like he wanted. And it worked. It worked every time.  

I struggled, trying to make my way towards that light. I couldn't see or feel anything. Except that light. Just that light.
