Chapter 90

"Nicholas." Mary’s mouth was already moving before she registered what she just said. It was impossible; Nicholas couldn’t be here. But why is she seeing him here, at the restaurant?

It all seemed to happen fast because someone who was coming from the back bumped into her, and Mary watched, feeling like she was in an outer body, as the tray fell down.

"Thud." The tray hit the ground with a thud, shattering on impact on the floor, and the noise seemed to shake her awake, and she jolted.

She looked down at the mess she had made, at a loss for what to do with the person’s order now on the floor. Liz, who had been watching the scenario, came towards her.

Mary bent down to start picking up the shards, but Liz stopped her. "Don’t worry, I will get it." She replied in her usual calm voice. Liz left to get a broom and a dustpan, while Mary continued standing there.
