Michael was waiting in my hotel room. I thought he was after the steak that I took out for him from the restaurant, but the frown on his face says otherwise, he seemed like he had completely forgotten about the steak.

"I just got a call from Mr. McMillan. Carter pulled out from the deal. He won't be your partner for the campaign."

"That's fast," I said as I removed my jewelry and headed to the dresser to safely put it away. I felt Michael following my trail as if he were my tail.

"That's fast? What do you mean that's fast? You knew that Carter would back out from the deal? Why would he do that?"

"I tried to stop him, okay? But he's right. It's for the better if our paths won't cross again."
