Isla Therese's Pov My doctor walked in and we automatically stopped talking. Kairos looked at my tummy using the sweetest eyes. "So, Doctor, how is my wife and our baby?" Kairos asked. The Doctor chuckled a bit. She finds Kairos' enthusiasm about me and the baby adorable. "Why?" Kairos asked, slightly confused. Dr. Tan took her eyes off the clipboard of my test result and then she shook her head at Kairos. "Oh, it's nothing, Mr. Lancaster. I've encountered a lot of excited fathers, especially the first timer, but your excitement topped you up at the list." Dr. Tan looked at the clipboard again. "Mrs. Lancaster is healthy, and the baby too, but she needs to be careful as the first trimester of a pregnancy can be a little tricky, and complicated." Dr. Tan tore her eyes off Kairos and glanced at me. "Stay away from stress, Mrs. Lancaster, and look after your health. These are the prescription of vitamins that you need to take daily." I gently took the paper from her. Kairos peeked
Isla Therese's Perspective"It's six in the morning. What the heck are you doing here?" Kairos asked Kio. Kio finished his latte art first before he looked in our direction. "Sister-in-law, do you want coffee?" "No, she can't." Kio rolled his eyes. He was ready to let that one slide, but then he suddenly stopped on his track and turned to look at us again. "She can't? Why not? You love coffee, Isla, matter of fact, you're a coffee addict, and now you can't drink it?" Kio's eyes suspiciously moved towards his brother. "Kairos is forbidding you to drink coffee and you're letting him?" Kio pouted his lips as he struggled to work out what was running on his head. "You married couple has a secret. What is it that you're hiding from me? You can tell me. I won't tell anyone." Kairos scoffs at his twin brother."We won't tell you. You're a goddamn yapper. You'd tell Mother." Kio grinned. He glanced at my stomach. "Why are you here?" Kairos asked as he took the cup of latte from Kio. He
Isla Therese's Pov My eyebrow furrowed with confusion after Kairos handed me a small box right after we set our feet in the yacht that will sail us to the Lancaster's privately owned island. "Is this a bribe to make me change my mind about Kio staying in our house?" I pushed the box back on his hand. "You could buy me a private island and I'd still choose having Kio around over the island." I met his eyes and sighed exasperatedly. "I don't know, Kai. I can't understand myself too, I can't explain it, what I'm sure is I enjoy having your twin around.""I do. I know what's going. You're conceiving, and you know how some pregnant women have this weird pregnancy cravings?" I nodded my head at him, even when I'm still puzzled. "Are you telling me that one of my pregnancy cravings is having Kio around, instead of munching on weird food combination?" I asked, and he nodded his head. "Oh, it make sense now." "Pregnancy cravings doesn't last for so long, and while you still want the fuc
Isla Therese's Pov Kairos held me in his arms as it felt like the wind coming from the chopper would blow me away. Mama Olga smiled as soon as our eyes locked in. She opened her arm, urging me to come to her and hug her. "You just saw each other one week ago, Mama," Kairos commented. "We could see each other just yesterday, and I would still miss my daughter-in-law so much," she said. Mama Olga looked back at me, waiting for me to say I felt the same way. "You're not coming to your office for two weeks now, Kairos. That's unlike you. Is there something wrong?" Kairos clenched his jaw, suddenly irritated by his father. Mama Olga wrapped her hand around her husband's arms. "It's Sunday, honey, and will you please look around? Kairos and Isla look like they're going to share a piece of good news with us. Can we not talk about work here? Just until this night is over." Mama Olga smiled. Her eyes signaled to me that she'd bring Papa inside before her son and husband continued to argu
Isla Therese's Pov "Out of all the desserts and pastries that I make for tonight. Is the chocolate cake the only thing that you liked, P-Papa?" I asked. My father-in-law looked around. He pointed at the cheese bar, the blueberry tart, and the red velvet cupcake, too, "I liked all of those," he answered, and I nodded at him. "Okay, Papa. I will make sure to send those pastries to you next week." He nodded. Our interaction was still awkward and a pain to watch, but at least we have progress now. "Now and then, when I'm bored, I try new recipes. Is it okay if I send them to you too?" "It'll be highly appreciated, Isla." "But don't expect that I'll let her bake all these pastries for you every week, Papa. Isla's Doctor is forbidding her to get too tired. It's bad for the ba—" Kairos somehow stopped himself from speaking before he could say the word baby. "Kio, help me, please?" I asked Kai's twin. Kio pointed at himself and threw a questioning look at me. "M-Me? W-Why me?" Kio clo
Isla Therese's Pov"Elodie Rei Lancaster." I hummed while Kairos continued to twirl my hair on his finger. "And if it's a boy, I want him to take your name." I turned to face him, and his forehead was creased confusedly. "My name? You want him to be my junior?" Kairos asked. I nodded my head. "I like that too," he said. Kairos cupped my cheeks. I closed my eyes as he leaned closer to claim my lips. Kairos kissed me gently; it almost felt like I was kissing another man.I pressed my lips together to stop myself from laughing. I opened my eyes. "Why? What's funny?" "This is so not like you, husband. Your kisses are too sweet and careful," I said. Kairos pouted. "Did you know that you're acting like a virgin right now? Like you don't know what to do?" I teased him. "Baby, I'm nervous to do it the way we usually do." "I'll do it," I said, pushing him to the bed. I grabbed the hair dryer from his hand and turned it off before gently tossing it on the floor while I was still on top
A Tragic Accident and Seven Years laterA small smile managed to escape from my lips as I saw our family portrait that was placed in the living room. This is the first thing one would see when they come into our house. Under that is another table made of a narra tree filled with our family's picture frames.I was stunned when my eyes landed on the picture frame where Nicholas nd I's wedding photo was placed. It was a shot from our second wedding. I had an accident seven years ago, and unfortunately, that erased my memory, and I can't remember anything. Nicholas Spencer, the sweet husband that he is. He wanted to make new memories and replace those that I had forgotten, and so our second wedding happened. My doctor said that there is little to no chance that my memory will come back whenever I remember those words of him. I could not help but feel bad. I feel like I have forgotten some people in my life like I'm missing something or maybe someone.I soon shrugged the thought away. Nic
"Mom, are you still mad at me? I'm sorry. Partly, it was my fault. Dad only bought what I want." Beryl mumbled while staring at the ground and fidgeting.I shook my head and patted the empty seat next to me. Beryl quickly settled herself there, and now she is giggling at me."I'm not mad—""But you are disappointed?" She continued my words. I slowly nodded, then took her hand from the table."I only want you to learn how to appreciate and value things that you have, baby," I muttered and smiled weakly at her.Beryl nodded to me, then stood up and kissed me on my cheeks as she apologised, "But Dad is at fault too. He never says no to me. He bought every single thing that I wanted. That's why we end up buying a lot." She cutely blamed Nicholas with her lips pouting."Mom, you and Dad's wedding anniversary is just four months away." She chirped excitedly while she exchanged a meaningful look with her father.I glance at Nicholas, who is now leaning on my shoulder. I gently caress
