Isla's Point of View

"Kairos," I mumbled. He was just staring back at me, but it was clear in his eyes that I wasn't going to have his permission and that we would end up arguing the following morning after we made up.

His gaze then went to my finger, my ring finger, specifically. I bit the inside of my cheeks and subtly hid my hand from his eyes though he had seen already that I was still not wearing our wedding ring. It crossed my mind to wear it back after I opened my eyes this morning. I just got distracted by the phone call that I received from Nicholas that I momentarily forgot about it again.

"If you want to start a foundation of your own. You certainly do not need Nicholas. You can do that with your own money. I can help you with that. Mommy can help you too. Don't you want to just do it with me?" He said, almost begging at me.
