After watching the sunset, they drove back home. The whole time had been magical but the lack of sleep was starting to catch up with Anne. Her eyelids felt heavy and a soft weariness settled into her bones. As they pulled up to her place, Nicholas glanced over at her, noting the tiredness in her eyes.

“I’ll walk you to your door,” he said.

She smiled at his insistence and asked, “Don’t you want to catch some sleep?”

He leaned over and kissed her lips softly, a touch that made her heart flutter. “Love, I’ll go broke soon if I don’t start working,” he murmured. How could he want to leave her here and return/ however, he had been ignoring his work too much these days and could not afford it.

She chuckled knowing that he was right. His work was important, and she appreciated his effort to spend time with her. Still, a small part of her wished they could steal a few more moments together. He opened the car door for her and walked her to the front door and his hand was resting lightly on h
