Chapter 7: Escape

Vanessa's thoughts raced as Edward pulled her through the twisting tunnel. "What's happening, Edward? Whonus trying to attack us?" She asked, struggling to match his brisk pace.

Edward remained silent, his attention solely on the road in front of him. The tunnel was poorly lit.

Out of nowhere, the tunnel echoed with the sound of gunshots, causing Vanessa's heart to race.

"What is going on?" She yelled, as fear started to seep into her tone.

Edward dragged her into a small room, forcefully shutting the door. "We must hide ourselves," he murmured, his gaze sweeping the cramped area.

Vanessa felt overwhelmed as she attempted to make sense of the situation.

The space was tiny, featuring concrete walls and one chair tucked away in the corner.

Edward forced Vanessa down into the seat, his gaze fixed on hers.

"I'll be back, stay here," he said, then vanished into the tunnel.

Vanessa remained in shocked silence, her heart pounding with terror.
