Even in her excitement, Wyoming felt that she had to put in her best performance to match the exorbitant rate they were paying her.
She pep-talked herself into doing a great job to impress the Ellishes. She does not want them to think that they made a mistake in choosing her for this role.
She was hyped.
She had to slay this role and hoped to carve a name for herself in this industry. She has to prove to everyone that she can make it big this time with the right people backing her up - meaning Ellish Film Productions Limited.
She started walking down the aisle and felt it odd that the production team chose another nameless, unpopular actor to play her groom. She also noticed a red flag in all these - the presence of Ellish Film Productions stalwarts Marcus and Alicia Ellish.
“We are gathered here today to witness the joining of Cayden Ellish and Wyoming Wilson in holy matrimony.”
That made her stop.
The wedding celebrant used her real name.
She also remembered her groom’s name as Cayden Ellish. If she was not mistaken, Cayden Ellish was the name of the eldest among the three sons of Marcus and Alicia Ellish and the new Chief Executive Officer of Ellish Film Productions Limited.
Suddenly, something inside her brain clicked in. The amount of money they were paying her was not commensurate with the role she was going to play. Now, she had an idea why.
The color drained her face as realization dawned.
“Is this a real wedding?” Wyoming hissed at the man standing stiffly beside her.
She could tell that he was also averse to the wedding from the rigidity of his stance, but why is he not resisting? Why is he going along with this pretentious wedding?
This is a real wedding, right?
A real wedding.
A real marriage.
To a stranger?
No, not a total stranger. Her groom is Cayden Ellish.
Cayden Ellish, her mind shouted!
She did not recognize him right away because he only had a few photos in circulation. And those few constitute his graduation pics from an Ivy League School.
Wyoming must say that his internet photos did not do him justice. From good looks alone, Cayden Ellish could give any actor a run for his money. Plus, he seemed low-key as she believes all the Ellishes are. She was trying to remember if she saw any photos of his two younger siblings in circulation and could not recall anything.
Although she seemed to recall reading recently in the entertainment section of the news that Cayden Ellish just got back from running their business abroad. He was done with his training and set to take over the helm of the Ellish Film Productions Limited, one of the biggest film production companies in the country.
‘Gosh, what had she gotten herself into.’ Wyoming thought in panic.
She wanted to bolt out and ran away, but something prevented her from galvanizing into action as a muscled arm encircled her waist to clamp her to his side.
“You signed the contract, remember?” The man who seemingly knew what was running on her mind at that moment reminded her in an icy-cold voice.
She struggled but he persisted.
He applied more pressure on his arm, pressing harder to clip her to his side.
Wyoming heard murmurs of satisfaction from the crowd.
To everyone, the intimate action looked like the man was so eager for physical contact with her - that he could not seem to get his hands off of her and her struggles are coy responses - typical of a young virginal bride.
But Wyoming knew better.
He was trying to stop her from running away.
She was about to open her lips when her groom very confidently interrupted their celebrant. And before she guessed what he was about to do, he already managed to take her veil off and proceeded to kiss her full on the lips while he held her body trapped between two muscular arms.
Shocked, Wyoming was stunned into silence.
She felt his soft lips graze her lips and was momentarily taken aback by its softness. When she did not respond, the man bit her lip lightly, earning a gasp from her and everyone around them.
Exhaling a sharp breath, Wyoming accidentally smelled his minty breath.
The sensation of his lips working its magic on hers had her forgetting everything around her.
At first, she was too stunned to react. A moment later, he deepened the kiss, and she felt her body softening. Another second later, and she was already responding to the kiss!
She was swayed.
She was so turned on.
She never felt herself becoming a very eager participant to a kiss - and from a stranger no less! It was very unlike her.
But she could not help herself.
Her groom kisses her so well.
There is a magic to his kiss, capturing her to submission.
Only one man kissed her before this and tried hard as she might, not to compare, she could not help herself. Jeremy’s kisses were so unlike the ones this man was giving her. He gives as much as he takes, and he was taking her breath away.
Wyoming failed to notice the loud buzzing in her head except for the heady taste of his kiss.
He licked her lips and nibbled them one last time before he released her.Shocked, Wyoming stared into his eyes, lost.
“Ehem!” The priest interrupted the sudden silence that enveloped them.
Her groom managed to appear contrite when he addressed the man that would solemnize their wedding.
“Forgive my bride’s beauty, Father. It left me overwhelmed.” Everyone laughed, dispelling the tense atmosphere.
“We all know that Mr. Ellish. But if you want to have her for yourself, let me finish this ceremony.” The priest reprimanded him, while the roaring crowd started to take on a more serious countenance so the ceremony could continue.
While everyone was busy with the priest, Cayden Ellish, her groom, grabbed this opportunity to whisper in her ear.
“You can not back out now. You already signed the contract, and the money has been deposited into your account.”
The reminder froze her on the spot. She groaned inwardly, mentally knocking her head in frustration.
Yes, it is true what they say. Regret comes later.
Wyoming regretted that she did not bother to read the contents of the documents that Miss Thea handed her before affixing her signature on them.
But there is still hope for her.
“The money’s still intact. I can return it to you right now. “ She whispered back in a hurry before taking the small bride pouch with its string hanging on her wrist to take her phone out to return the money.
This time, Cayden Ellish’s face became harder. “Didn’t you read the contract before you signed them?”
When he was sure that he had her full attention, he continued. “Backing out on the agreement would mean that you have to pay me back triple the amount I paid you.”
“Mr. Ellish, do you still want me to continue?” The priest’s hard voice rang out loud, scolding Cayden and her for their inattention.
It was the least of Wyoming’s concerns. What bothers her more is the fact that she could not break out of this farce.
Cayden’s words left Wyoming cold.
Her hands that were moving quickly to open the pouch abruptly stopped.
Where on earth will she find the money to pay him? The amount is enough to bury her in debt.
Wyoming’s anxious eyes flew to him.
Seeing his face, Wyoming had this distinct sinking feeling in her stomach that he was not joking.
This is a real deal!
The moment Cayden realized that his words fully sank in and her brain was able to process them, a victorious smile played on his lips.
Wyoming very much wanted to wipe that smile off his face, but she knows when she is cornered. There is no escape for her now.
In frustration, she took his arm, pretending to caress it until her fingers reached the back of his hand.
His body tensed.
Then without warning, she pinched the exposed skin with her nails. She dug deep until she heard someone yelp in pain.
Satisfied at the sound, Wyoming pasted a fake smile on her face and faced the priest, all the while, very conscious of the bristling man beside her.
The priest again stopped to reward them with a stern look. He was seriously trying hard to control his temper for this pesky couple.
“Sorry, father. You may proceed with the ceremony.” Wyoming managed in her most saccharine voice she could muster, ignoring the dagger looks Cayden Ellish shoots her way.
She was smiling to herself, relishing her mini-triumph, though she knew that this moment would not last.
The ceremony continued after that without further interruptions, much to the officiant’s relief.
___
After the ceremony, Cayden did not bother to stop and greet friends and families when they approached them.
Instead, he clamped a hand to Wyoming’s wrist and walked briskly away while everyone looked on with indulgent smiles on their faces.
They all thought that Cayden could not wait to be alone with his bride.
Wyoming sighed. Now’s retribution time for Cayden.
She let him drag her to the back of the car, where a bridal car waited.
A uniformed chauffeur opened the door for them.
Wyoming’s groom deposited her inside without letting her wrist go.
Away from prying eyes, Wyoming’s heart skipped a beat.
She watched as Cayden pressed a button when the door closed on them, separating the back part of the car from the driver. Then he pressed another button and she heard the doors of the car click shut.
She felt trapped.
“What are you going to do to me?” She asked in suspicion, noting the menacing look that Cayen shot her way.
Fear started to crawl her skin. Her eyes started to wander, trying to look for a way to escape the impenetrable presence of Cayden Ellish.
But Cayden ignored her. He scooped her up and deposited her on his lap with her legs spread on both sides of him.
The indignity of her position notwithstanding, Wyoming pulled back, looking scared for a moment.
“Let me go!” She shouted.
To Cayden, she looked like a trapped mouse and it amused him to no end that he could inspire fear in her, yet she hid it carefully in well-veiled indignation.
“Not yet.” He muttered.
“Not until you learn your lesson.” He added darkly.
He flipped her over and whacked her in the bottom.
“Ouch!” Wyoming tried to sit up and evade another wrack but Cayden was quick. He brought her back to a sitting position, straddling him.
Wyoming squirmed in an effort to get away from him, but they both stopped when something big and hard came between their connected body parts.
“What is it?” She cried in alarm as the pain in her buttocks was forgotten.
Cayden Ellish grunted as if in pain, but his hold on her did not waver.
“Stop wiggling!” He commanded in a stern voice.
Wyoming looked at his red face. It was contorted as if in pain. She was shocked when she realized what was happening to him.
He was aroused.
Goodness! Wyoming thought. She was paralyzed in place, afraid to move lest any slight movement would make him pounce on her.
She was looking at him, her eyes guarded and her body on alert.
But he did not do anything to her. Thank God!
Instead, he took deep calming breaths while he still held her wrists.
After a while, the tension in his body subsided.
Wyoming breathed a sigh when he released her and she slumped on his side.
For a long time, they just stayed there without words passing between them. Only their labored breathing could be heard.
When the tension left her body, Wyoming dared snuck a glance at Cayden and was surprised to see him looking strangely at her.
“W-what is it?” She stammered as she tried to sit upright.
By this time, she was careful not to incite him. She could not take another ‘hulk’ moment from his lower body. It was downright embarrassing!
Cayden remained silent while his eyes made a careful inspection of his new wife’s red face. Seeing the blush that crept on her cheeks, he could not help commenting,
“Stop testing my patience. We are married. You signed the contract and it is a done deal.” He added.
What he said was true.
They are married and she could not do anything about it.
Wyoming looked at the cramped vehicle and noted that like her current predicament, she is trapped with no way to escape.
“What have I gotten myself into?” She muttered under her breath.
Her body stiffened when she realized what she had gotten into. She slumped back on the plush seat looking like her whole world crumbled before her. Cayden saw her expression and took pity on her. “Don’t worry. The marriage is for show only and after a year, you are free to go.” He said to assuage her worry. But the anxious look on her face remained. “I don’t understand, why me?” Wyoming could not help it. She asked the question that was foremost on her mind. “Why not you?” Cayden countered. “I mean, I am nobody. I do not have an impressive record. I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth.” Wyoming said what was on her mind without any bitterness since it was the truth. But Cayden seemed to find it offensive seeing the rigidity in the set of his jaw. She realized that he was a man not used to being questioned for his actions. But instead of cowering from the pointed look he gave her, she grabbed the opportunity of their temporary situation to explain hersel
Wyoming did not know how long it took for Cayden’s driver to get them to the hospital. Her eyes were closed as she struggled with her breathing. But she could hear voices - the loudest of them all came from her new husband, Cayden Ellish. He was barking orders at whoever while she was being wheeled inside. The medics soon put her on oxygen. She hurriedly breathed through the cannula. Then they injected something into her arm with Cayden's worried face looming before her. That scene was the last thing she remembered before she passed out. When she becomes conscious again, she finds herself lying in bed inside an ivory room, which feels very calming to the eyes. She bolted upright in confusion. The last thing she remembered was Cayden brought her to the hospital, and they were trying to administer relief for her sudden asthma attack. “I am glad you are okay. You gave me quite a scare back there.” Someone spoke. A man’s voice. Wyoming abruptly spun her head to her left and sa
Wyoming’s face turned pale at the thought of losing her virginity. Cayden watched in amusement as the color drained from her face. She looked adorable when she looked helpless and problematic while fiddling with her thumb and forefinger. He was thinking of playing with her a little bit -letting her stew for a while, but when her face lost its color, he had second thoughts. The sight of her pale face alarmed him a bit. It brought him memories of the scare he experienced inside the car when he realized she was experiencing difficulty breathing. The panic he felt at that time was no joke. Much as it appealed to him to tease her, he restrained himself. He stopped. He does not want an encore of their hospital episode. In his mind, he decided to let her off the hook. “I am afraid having s*x with you is not on my card. You can admire and lust after my body as most girls do, but you can not have it. You may be my wife, but technically, you are still my employee.” Cayden scoffed.
“We will live together as husband and wife under the same roof for a year. When the year ends, we are going to file for a divorce. After our separation, you can do whatever you like, and I can do mine. We are free from any accountability from each other.”“While we were married, we had to keep appearances at all costs, especially in front of my grandfather. Pretend that you are crazy about me. Understand?”Wyoming nodded, trying to keep a straight face while listening to Cayden read the supplemental contract his lawyer drew for them. They were inside the study room in Cayden’s mansion. This is the first place he brought her to after they came from the hospital. This is also going to be her temporary home for a year. “We have separate quarters. My private quarters are off-limits to you.” He warned.Wyoming rolled her eyes when he was not looking. Why does he keep on insisting that she has any designs over him? Wyoming threw him an exasperated look and started doodling with h
Inside the car, Wyoming unconsciously rubbed the palms of her hands on her dress.Cayden did not respond to her message. She looked outside the window and saw they were getting near their destination, and she began to panic. Alicia Ellish, noting her nervousness and misinterpreting it, tried to appease her. All the while, she held Wyoming’s hands between hers and patted them gently.“Do not worry, dear. Noah, Cayden's grandfather is a good man.” She assured Wyoming countless times, not understanding the reason for her panicked state.Alicia was also surprised when Noah’s private nurse called to relay the old man's request - get Cayden’s wife to visit him soon. The request delighted her. She felt in her gut that Noah Ellish liked Wyoming for her son, and in her excitement, she did not waste any more time. She went hurriedly to Cayden's mansion to fetch his wife. Alicia would also like to take advantage of the time to bond with her. She never had a chance to be a mother to a d
After Cayden had deliberately and spontaneously dealt a blow to Andi Smith’s ego, Cayden turned around to sweep everyone with a chilly gaze. “Sorry people, I have to go. Please keep tabs with my office on the changes we will implement soon.” Without waiting for a reply, Cayden walked out of the waiting lounge ignoring the stunned crowd he left behind. He walked crisply and briskly that all the journalists could do was helplessly follow his retreat with regret on their faces. They could have gotten more information from him. Cayden rarely indulges the media with his elusive presence. The journalists wanted to ask him more questions, and his abrupt leave whetted their appetite for more of him. And there is only one person responsible for it - Andi Smith! She ruined their interview! They could not believe that any man would ignore Andi's unparalleled beauty. As Ellish Film Production's prime artist, Andi Smith commands royalty treatment. So why did Cayden Ellish make
As the trio composed of Alicia, Cayden, and Wyoming stepped out of Noah’s suite, Cayden’s bodyguards alertly covered them. Cayden’s arms which previously snaked her waist, dropped like a log to his side when they were already out of the old man’s sight. Cayden’s unexpected action had Wyoming dig her feet to the floor to keep her body from reeling. Cayden, not realizing that he almost made her lose her footing, abruptly turned to his mother while purposely looking at his expensive watch. “Mom, can you drop Wyoming off?" "I have to go ahead. My flight is in thirty minutes.” Then without looking back or even telling Wyoming goodbye, Cayden walked ahead of them, his bodyguards following him like goons. When they were gone, Wyoming looked awkwardly at Alicia, who returned her smile with a kind-hearted one. “Come on. I will take you home.” Alicia invited. They rode the elevator in silence. Wyoming felt compelled to make small talk but could not find her voice. She felt shy
Cayden’s body fell face first on the bed. He was bone tired running around Mayflower District searching for Tori Hutton. After two days of unfruitful search, he finally gave up. He had to accept the fact that Tori was gone. Cayden felt he should have done that the day Tori walked out, but his heart refused to think about it.He refused to accept that she was gone and clung to the littlest hope that he could still persuade her to change her mind and marry him. Now, the harsh, painful truth glared at him. Tori was ready to throw everything away the day she walked out on him.Cayden sighed. He does not know what to do anymore. He was tired and hungry and a bit angry with himself. He should have stayed in New York and let his people bring Tori back. But his excitement got the better of him.He wanted to see her - ask
Cayden backed off, afraid to anger Wyoming in her delicate condition. After Wyoming climbed into the car, Alicia turned around to talk to him. “It’s best if we take her, Cayden.” He nodded. He did not want to argue with the elders or raise Wyoming’s hackles in her sensitive condition. He was right, it seemed, when Alicia added, “Her hormones are acting up making her blood boil every time she sees you. If she’s indeed pregnant I am sure the baby would take after you.” Alicia teased leaving him in a daze. “Mom!” Wyoming called out from inside the van, prompting Alicia to bestow an apologetic smile his way before closing the car door behind her. “Pregnant.” He murmured to himself while he tried to wrap his mind around the possibility. It wouldn’t be impossible since he and Wyoming spend most of their night doing the deed. Cayden watched in a daze as the van moved forward before blending into the morning traffic. It was a long time before he decided to get back to the house a
Wyoming woke up feeling at ease. She had no idea what woke him up, it was just that her nose had become sensitive. She smelled something that she found not to her liking. She sniffed the air, her nostrils scrunched up in distaste. “What is that awful smell?” She asked hoarsely, opening one eye to check if there was something wrong with their room only to see a semi-undress Cayden hovering above her. His hair dripped wet from the shower. She smiled warmly at him. In a daze, she propped herself on the bed, her hands stretching out to put them around Cayden’s neck. With eyes sparkling in delight at her warm reception, Cayden leaned forward to peck her lips. She meets his downward motion with an upward motion, sniffing at the same time. That was when her nostrils started to twitch scrunching up in distaste for she smelled something not suitable to her taste. “You smell disgusting!” She cried, covering her mouth with her palm to avoid smelling that awful smell. However, the stench s
Giggling sounds and laughter filled Wyoming’s ears. Surrounded by her family, her heart felt full. She blushed when she remembered Cayden and her were supposedly hiding from their families. Now, looking back toward the living room, she saw everyone looking at them, smiles wreathing their faces.Overwhelmed with shyness, she buried her face in Cayden’s chest, as if he could hide what they were doing previously from their onlookers. Cayden threw his head back at her natural display of shyness. His laughter started as a low rumble in the pit of his stomach crossing his lungs and finally coming out of his mouth. The sight of him looking so carefree and happy caught her in a daze, affecting her in ways she did not understand but could only feel.“Mommy! Daddy!” Connor’s shout distracted her from her intent perusal of Cayden’s face. She turned her head to the direction of the sound and saw Connor running toward them, his little feet creating a soft thud as his shoe collided with th
Wyoming got out of the bathroom, a large towel draped around her body, and another one wrapped like a turban around her head. She was about to pull the towel from her head to rub her hair with it when she stopped suddenly. She debated within herself whether to go back to the bathroom and wait for him to leave the room or feign nonchalance.Choosing the latter, she walked inside the room she shares with Connor and stopped a few paces before Cayden. Then she remembered if he was here. “Who is taking care of Connor?” The idea that Connor is playing by himself somewhere inside the house or maybe outside on the beach had her hurrying. She moved about the room, opening a closet to get a change of clothes. In her haste, the towel knot loosened, threatening to fall off her body. She clutched the front with her hand while her other hand held her change of clothes. The towel on her head fell off. Cayden saved it. He held the towel and gently pulled it off her head. “Thank you.” She mu
“Argh!” Wyoming’s fingers clenched, her teeth gritting in frustration while Connor and Cayden, the duo from h*ll did another trick that left her breathless, her body humming in unreleased tension. “Mommy, put some sunblock on my back and daddy’s,” Connor demanded, handing her a bottle of sunblock lotion and turning around, so his back was facing her.She opened the cap, applied some to her palms, and lathered her son’s small back with the lotion.“There, all done. You can now go swim in the water with your dad.” She told him while she placed the bottle of sunblock aside, careful that her eyes led her astray. She had been trying so hard to ignore the rippling muscles on Cayden’s exposed back which he also displayed alongside her son’s. Cayden previously followed Connor’s lead and presented her back to her as well. She smoothed sunblock on Connor but not on Cayden. However, her eyes betrayed her every time. She could not help but look at Cayden’s back, filled with ridges and cur
Contrary to what she initially thought, Cayden did not bring them back to New York, back to their old house surrounded by their family. When their plane landed and she got out, she was surprised to find out they were nowhere near JFK International Airport. In truth, she missed her father and would have wanted to bond with her mother. She braved the longing to be with her parents to protect herself and her son from Cayden. She had mistakenly thought that putting distance between them was enough for her and her son to get away from Cayden’s peripheral. Only to be corrected when he came barging in on her despite the distance. “Where is this place?” She asked, looking at the expanse of trees and dirt around them, totally opposite of the City that never sleeps. She was still miffed with him for trying to blackmail her into submission, but she could not totally ignore him. The man is huge and his presence was not one to be ignored. All through their flight, she was fully aware of t
Chest heaving from anger at the audacity of this man to lie to her through his teeth, Wyoming all but cried, “Liar!” The bitterness of five years ago came to her in full force, flaming the rage inside her. Gaining her memory has intensified the pain like it just happened a while back. She clenched her fist, struggling from her confinement. It was futile, though. With Cayden’s buffed body, he had her trapped very neatly. She did not know how he was able to become this muscled man and still evoke the same feelings from her. His body and her body might change. He became bigger and muscular, and she became softer and fuller due to childbirth, but when their skin connected, it was as if fire sizzled between them.Wyoming could feel the hardness of the wall digging into her back, yet she did not even flinch. The anger gnawing inside her was more powerful than the physical pain. “You can not win me over with all your lies. My son belongs to me. He is mine and you can not take h
“Where are we going, Collins?” “It’s a secret.” Wyoming fidgeted in her seat but did not press Collins for more information. She was surprised when he asked her tonight. They do not usually go out because their finances are tight. And the few times they did, it was always with Connor. “Relax. We’re not going far,” he told her, seeing her getting all worked up. “I’m just not used to leaving Connor at night with a sitter. You know how he wanted me to lull him to sleep. I’m worried that he’ll raise h*ll when we don’t come back at his bedtime hour. “Don’t worry about Connor. He knows Lizzie and he won’t make a fuss.” He assured her. Lizzie lives next door - a single mother of a four-year-old daughter, Samantha. “To ease your mind, why don’t you call them?” Collins suggested.Thinking it was a great idea, she took her phone from her purse and called Lizzie. “Wyoming? Did you forget something?” Lizzie’s soft voice permeated her ears causing her to feel a little self-con
“I am fine, mom.” Wyoming insisted and rolled her eyes for the second time during that phone call. Her mother has been deluging her with phone calls these days and it has become quite annoying. “Will call you back, mom. I have to fetch Connor from the kindergarten. The school notified me they will be released early today.” Wyoming paused, listening to what her mom said on the other line before responding to cut the overseas call. “Yes, mom, of course. Will call you some other time, bye.” She expelled air after she hung up. “Your mom’s pretty difficult today,” Collins commented after she dropped her phone. Wyoming did not like how it sounded coming off from him. He did not even know her. The only interaction they had was when she was at the hospital back in New York and there has been nothing significant about their conversations, mostly getting to know each other, etc. In an offhand manner, she shrugged her shoulders to make light of it. Her mom, she knew, could be a bit
