As much as she didn't know why she was out of her mind at that time; why it felt as if an unknown force had taken over her body, she knew that it wasn't right.

All those things she did weren't right. She wasn't supposed to treat Kendrick like that. Maybe she should have followed the Butler's advice and let his anger come down. She should have listened to Kara's words and not made a great deal out of things.

"Crying all the time will only worsen things, Hailey."

Silent tears trickled down Hailey's face and Kara used her thumbs to wipe them.

"You have to be strong. You can't let the grief take over you."

Strong?

That word sounded foreign to Hailey.

Her grandfather had told her these same words. Her grandfather had spent hours here, offering her every word of advice.

He said she had to be strong. She had to look after her health.

But how could she be strong when she'd just lost her baby? Her poor baby. Hailey wasn't going to be strong. She was never going to forgive herself.
