Right on cue, Hailey jumped up as her phone started ringing. Ignoring the dizziness that came with her abrupt movement, her eyes searched around and she located her phone on the bedside table.

She grabbed it while her eyes widened at the displayed name. Then her heart started thumping and her hands trembled a bit. Th–That was Kendrick calling. Why was she suddenly nervous?
