“What the hell...?” I grumbled beneath my breath.

What kind of debauchery are they committing?

I'm sure that they know exactly where they should be doing this. At this point, Jaxson should have realized that these two were doing this on purpose to sabotage his strategy.

Perhaps if Jaxson chose to get drunk today, I would no longer look after him and instead get really frustrated with him.

Even though I know he's hurt, he'll make a fool of himself if he gets hurt by what they're doing. Obviously they are just doing that for the show.

As the two give each other greater pleasure, I shut my eyes in disgust.

I gently pulled Jaxson's arm, hoping to get his attention in some way. After all, this is why I came to his workplace.

I had no idea what was going on around me or what Jaxson's reaction was because I kept my eyes shut.

When I felt my hand stretch as Jaxson continued to walk, my eyes widened. I attempted to look for Jaxson's eyes to look at it, but I couldn't see his face.

When we eventually got inside the car, which had already been parked outside for a while, I took another look at Daniella and Lance's car.

“Seriously, don't they have anything else to do?” I wondered aloud, before shifting my eyes to Jaxson. “Are you okay?” I asked softly.

Even though Jaxson's sorrowful expression after what he had just seen was irritating, I couldn't help but be concerned for him.

“Let's go and head to the resto, I feel like I'm dying from hunger.” He said with a feeble giggle.

What he had just uttered made my head tilt slightly in disbelief.

I'm not sure if this man is faking it because he's still chuckling after seeing his ex-fiancee making out with his stepbrother. Is this still the Jaxson I know?

I expected him to send me home and get drunk again alone. Make himself wasted like always because of what he sees they’re doing.

“The meeting ended so late,” Jaxson said again. “I wish I can still drive there and arrive alive. Are you dying of hunger too?” He said in a jolly tone.

“Are you really okay, Jax?” I asked him again because I am just feeling really strange.

He had just blown some air out of his nostrils. "I am fine. So, what do you want to eat tonight? Do you have a diet or a routine that you stick to? ”

My jaw gaped open as I tried to fathom Jaxson's actions.

“Well... I'm not on any sort of diet. I eat whatever is in front of me. I sparingly respond, noticing that I am gradually picking up on his mood.

Perhaps Jaxson is trying and really giving it his all this time.

Maybe this is just his way of forgetting about his fiancee's and their past. Seeing how Jaxson even tries to smile in front of me after everything that happened, he really wants to get back again and show them how unaffected he is.

Is this also the best time for me to fulfill Fin's request and help Jaxson forget about Daniella, and finally get back on his feet.

“How about a steak dinner or a seven-course meal for dinner?”

“What kind of food are you talking about again this time?” I said as we both cracked a smile at each other when the car began to move and Jaxson's eyes went back to the road. “Plus, I don't want to eat that steak anymore. I can't bear the thought of being embarrassed in front of high-status class people for the nth time and being their rent free clown. I am so done embarrassing myself and nope, not anymore!” I exclaimed.

Jaxson laughed heartily in response to what I said, possibly remembering that night at our first dinner, which made him laugh out loud every time he remembered it, while I felt like dying and wanted to bury myself with that memory.

“How about I decide on our dinner tonight?” I said as I locked my gaze on Jaxson's face.

He gave me a quick glance as he turned to face me. “Why?” he asked. “What would you like for dinner?”

I let out a small chuckle before letting go of his eyes and focusing on the road. Just trust me. All you have to do is follow me when we get there. And I'll take care of everything! Consider it as my thank you treat to you. You will love it!” I exclaimed, my heart racing with excitement.

“No, you're not footing the bill for me. Let me take care of those-”

“Hmph!” I feigned to be cute, raising my palm in front of the side of his face. Leave it to me. Besides, it won't have as much of an impact on my wealth as you imagine.” I tried to mimic Jaxson's voice while acting nonchalant and mocking him.

When Jaxson is in a good mood and joyful, he is a lot of fun to be around. And the smiles on his lips just makes his face ten times more charming. I only wish I could see him like this every day. Not the notorious, cold hearted Jaxson.

“Fine,” he mumbled, still chortling. “I'll put my life in your hands then.”

I withdrew my eyes from him, letting out a soft giggle after he gave me a meaningful glance, and returning my gaze to the road. I swung my body to the side and rested my head on my arm.

I heard Jaxson play music, but there are no lyrics, just a peaceful melancholic sound that is really calming.

As I watch the people outside the window who were now also seem to be going on their own homes, and the others were probably just about to go to work, I can’t help but recollect on their exhausted faces that I was in their shoes just days before. I would get up early to go to university, then return home in the afternoon as quickly as I can after my side line to the ice cream shop to care for my mother and Charles for a bit before going out again to go and work in the club.

It is true, not all of our lives are supposed to be equal in this earth. But even though I feel that sometimes, the universe is not being fair to me, I still choose to battle and hope for better days to come to me. Even after going home with blisters on my feet from a long day run, I still take off my shoes with a smile. Because I thought, I am already content with my life. I used to believe that we didn't need anyone else in our life to be happy. I came to believe living with my brother and mother was more than enough for me. I do everything I can for them, and I don't look back on those moments with regret.

But, after meeting Jaxson, I don't know what just happened to me. And what a person he turned me into. I came to realization, that being alone is not enough. That I still need someone who is not blood related to me, that I can be with to share a laugh with, being flustered by just looking at them, be sad whenever you see them not happy, and be there on their side when they need you the most.

I just feel like Jaxson opened my heart and made me realize a lot of things I didn't even notice before. And now, I do feel like better and happy days are really coming for me. Not just pure exhaustion, not just pure pain and suffering, because there will be happiness as well.

It's almost like finding happiness in the middle of the chaos.

My eyes gradually shifted to Jaxson, who was still focused on the road ahead of us.

I'm having such a great time with him that I'm beginning to fear the end of us.

“Cattleya, you're pretty amusing.”

The unexpected words that came out of his mouth made me flinch.

“You have no idea how many times you have saved me.”

“What are you saying?” I muttered with a tinge of confusion on my face. “I don’t even know if I am helping you enough after sending my mother and Charles abroad. So, what do you mean I’m saving you?”

I gaped at him as Jaxson’s eyes were still fixed on the road.

“Well, I guess I shouldn’t tell you about it anymore to keep my cool.” He uttered with a soft chuckle. “Just stay with me for now, and everything will be fine.”

“How can you be so sure? What if they won’t give you a call? What if… Uh… There would be an emergency and they can’t contact you?” I insisted on the question once again. Jaxson can’t stay here all day, because if that happens, then I have to stay all day in this bed too. He will eventually find out that I can’t walk. “— Also, you won’t stay here with me all day even if you don’t go to your office. I have a call from Miranda agency that we have costume fitting today.” It’s not entirely a lie because the agency called me early in the morning that I have to be there with Daniella.I am planning to go regardless of what she can do to me. And what I am thinking of, is to sneak out this house with the help of Richard. Besides, he won’t suspect that Daniella did it to me because it seems to be an accident when I fall off my shoes. It’s only me and her who knows exactly who did it to injure me. I can’t help but to worry about Lance’s and Daniella’s plan for Jaxson and I. They are harming

I struggled to get my body moving and hit the button on the bedside table."Good evening, Aunt Elsie? Are you there?" I politely called the other line and then waited for him to respond. It's excellent that Jaxson has been using advanced technology throughout this bedroom. Since it is so distant from our room, I wouldn't have been able to call Aunt Elsie if I wasn't strong enough to go down to the kitchen."Hello, Mrs. Madrigal. My mother isn't here, do you need anything?""Angel?" I asked with my brows colliding. "Why isn't Aunt Elsie there? Did she go somewhere?" I became worried because this is the first time that she is not the one who answered my call."Well, technically she's not here. But she's also not outside the house. I think she's taking care of Mr. Madrigal that just came home, ma'am. Would you like me to call her?" He calmly answered with his soft and airy voice."No, no, it's okay..."If you need anything Mrs. Madrigal, I can bring it to you right away."I nodded quietl

"You're giving me tickles, stop." he chuckles as he continuously leaned away from me.I giggled as I continued to tease him. "You're such a ticklish baby.""I am not." he tried to straighten his face and stop laughing but he couldn't stop it.When I got tired, I leaned on his chest again and then fiddled with the button of his polo shirt."When are we going back to New Jersey?" I asked. It's like... I don't want to go back and face his life. I just want to stay here next to Liam and hug him all night, make him laugh, and talk to him."We're not going back unless you ask me to." he uttered.I moved a little away from his chest to look him in the eyes. "Really?"His hand came up to the top of my head and ruffled my hair. "Really."I took a breath. "If it's possible, I'll claim you and never give you back."He laughed softly and then turned his attention back to the laptop in front of him when he received an email.I brought my lips to his ear again, but this time, to whisper."Liam is g

"I missed the breeze here..." Maddison muttered as Blade pushed his wheel chair towards the shore of the sea. "I avoid even thinking about this place because of painful memories." he smiled bitterly. When they got there, Blade stopped pushing and then he sat next to its wheel."Me, I'm always here to calm my mind.
