"How many times do I have to say that you can always call me Richard."

I laughed awkwardly because of his opening words to me. My gaze returned to Loren and Mr. Sol and feels the situation. An uncomfortable silence enveloped us for a moment.

We are not that close because of the manager and owner of the club I worked for, Mr. Sol. Even though he told me a few times that I could call him by his name it seemed like I couldn’t do it because of the invisible fence between us. But I really appreciate how he came first to help me when he found out I had nothing to pay for my tuition. He allowed me to ask for an advance salary so I saved my education.

The ice broke in our midst because of Uncle Joe’s fake throat cleaning. Maybe they also felt the unusually awkward situation. I don't even know why Loren brought him here. They are not that close to each other either.
