“Annie?”. Her mother was surprised to see her at home. It was 1am on Saturday and she’d originally thought she’d stay over at Cesar’s house. It wasn't a normal occurrence but she had hoped that this time it would be different.
She wanted the same thing her daughter wanted; for her to tie the knot with Cesari Sandoval and to keep all that wealth in the family.
“Mom.” Annie sobbed and rushed to hug her mother.
Monica Montalvo wondered what happened that her daughter was crying so hard as if she’d lost someone very dear to her.
“What’s wrong Annie?”. Monica inquired and pulled back to look at her. "Did Cesar do something to upset you? did he..”
“He doesn’t love me mother". Annie replied angrily, released her mother and walked over to sit down on the sofa. "After we.. fucked, I told him how I feel about him and he.." She hiccupped. "He broke up with me!”.
“I’m very sorry dear." Monica went to sit beside her. "But you don’t have to be so upset because he doesn’t love you back my darling. You’re a very beautiful woman and I’m very sure you’ll find someone who’d love you for who you are.” She assured her. "Another man's gain, his loss."
“You don’t understand! it’s Cesar I want! just him!”. She kicked off her shoes in a fit of anger.
Monica sighed. “You can force a horse to a river but you can’t force it to drink water.” She stated dryly.
Annie huffed. “We’ll see about that Mother.”
“You okay now? I’m going back to bed. I have an early flight to catch.” Monica said.
“Sure.” She mumbled.
“Want anything to eat?”.
“No thanks.”
Monica kissed her daughter’s forehead and left. She hoped that whatever her daughter was planning wouldn’t backfire on her because Cesari Islan Sandoval wasn’t just your ordinary easy billionaire.

“Mommy! Someone’s at the door!”. Miesa called.
“Coming!". Elyon turned off the gas stove, wiped her hands with a napkin and went to get the door. She’d told Miesa never to answer the door by herself so every time someone rang the doorbell, Miesa would call out to her to get the door.
“Who is it?”. She asked.
“Your boyfriend". Cesar replied gruffly. "Open up.”
Ellie sighed then unlocked the door and opened it. She saw Cesar leaning against the wall with a frown on his face.
“It’s Saturday.” She told him.
“I have no where else to be." He grumbled and stepped into the house.
“Come right in." She said with a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "It’s your house.”
“Where’s her royal Highness?”. He asked.
“Cesar!!”. Miesa let out a high pitched squeal of delight and flung herself at him.
“Woah!you’re getting bigger everyday princess.” Cesar said jokingly and made a show of not being able to lift her making her giggle.
“You’re funny.” Miesa said.
“He’s really not". Ellie said. "His jokes make me cry.”
“Your mom likes putting me down, doesn’t she princess?”. Cesar asked her as they walked to the living room.
“Someone needs to do it because your ego is way bigger than the galaxy." She walked to the kitchen. "I still wonder how I put up with you.”
Cesar kissed Mimi’s forehead with a promise that he’d come play with her real soon and followed Ellie to the kitchen.
“Coffee?”. She asked.
“Beer if you have it." He said. "I had a terrible night.”
“No beer. I have a kid in the house remember?”. She said.
“Fine. Coffee then." He groaned. "Black.”
Ellie got a mug and poured him coffee then passed it to him. She turned on the gas stove and continued with what she was doing.
“What happened?”. She inquired, knowing that he wouldn't just show up at her house without any reason. He looked troubled and she hoped whatever was on his mind wasn't anything serious.
Cesar went silent wondering if he should tell her because he knew she’d surely judge him for the way he treated Annie.
Ellie turned back to look at him when he said nothing. “You don’t have to tell me..” She began.
“Annie told me she loves me and I broke up with her. He blurted out.
“Annie?”. She arched a brow.
Cesar rolled his eyes. “Antoinette Montalvo.”
“Oh?”. Ellie’s eyes widened.
“Well..I didn’t break up with her because we were not dating or anything. I ended our fuck buddy relationship.” Cesar said.
“Just because she loves you?”. She asked in disbelief.
“It’s against the rules.” He frowned.
Ellie nodded in understanding. “I see.”
“Do you really?”. He asked.
She said nothing.
“I’m waiting.” He rumbled.
“For what?”.
“Your judgement. I’m sure you have something to say concerning this.” He said. "So spill it."
“I don’t judge you.” She refuted.
“You so do." He countered. "Remember that time we went to De Santis Corporation and I said something awful about that idiot Jason?you called me a rotten cow and you said I’m just like him.”
“I was telling you the truth." Ellie stated. "And you’re really a rotten cow for treating Annie that way.” She added with a cheeky smile.
“See?!”. He threw his hands up in the air.
“I’m sure she tried not to fall for you but sometimes..you do things that stop that from happening. It’s not a crime for her to love you.” She said.
Cesar frowned darkly and looked down into his half empty mug.
“It was a crime for my mother.” He mumbled.
“That’s her headache, not yours." Ellie told him. "You still survived without her didn’t you? You’re way richer than six presidents combined and you’re just 29.”
Cesar arched an eyebrow. “You know my age, how?".
“It’s common knowledge.” Ellie replied in a duh tone.
“You don’t love me either.” He reminded her.
“Do you want me to love you?”. Her heart skipped a beat in her chest.
Cesar shrugged nonchalantly.
“Then I love you.” Ellie beamed at him.
Cesar’s heart skittered in his chest as he searched her face to see if she was telling the truth.
“Really?”. He breathed.
“Yes." Ellie nodded. She bit her lip.
“I have told you not to bite your lip Ellie." Cesar warned her. "You know what that does to me.”
Ellie rolled her eyes and released it. “You’ve told me that a million times so how can I forget?”.
“Good.” He said.
“I just don’t love you the way Annie does." Ellie informed him. It was a lie but what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him.
“You see me as a friend?”.
“Yep.” She popped the “p”.
“How about I change your mind?”.
“No you can’t.” She scoffed.
“You seem so sure of yourself.”
“I told you Cesar..you’re not my type.” Ellie said and winked at him.
“We’ll see about that Ellie love.”
Ellie sat at her desk going through a travel magazine wishing she had enough money to take Miesa around the world. It wasn’t that Cesar didn’t pay her enough – he did and he was in fact more than generous but she had bills to pay and she couldn’t afford to be broke at this time. Not when she’d promised Miesa a big cake for her birthday and her favorite cartoon character gown.Miesa would throw a fit if she didn’t get that gown..and her temper tantrums were the worst. It was one she didn't want to experience. Not ever. The elevator doors pinged and opened and Cesar stepped out looking drop dead gorgeous in his navy blue suit. His hair was gelled back and he was clean shaven. He looked gorgeous in any outfit but today… there was something about him that she couldn't quite put her finger on.“Good morning sir.” Ellie greeted, cheerfully.“In my office right now.” He ordered and went to his office.Ellie stared after him, shocked by his attitude. Never in the three years she’d been workin
“Miesa Devane.” Doctor Mirabelle’s secretary called.“Yes Ma’am.” She stood up.“Come with me please.” She waved her over.Miesa smiled at Beth who smiled back and she left the class. She hoped doctor Mirabelle had good news for her because she couldn’t wait any longer.“You can go in Miesa.” The secretary told her when they got to the doctor’s office.“Thank you.” Miesa smiled then she knocked on the door, waited for a reply before she went into the office.“Come in Miesa!”. Mirabelle said. "I have good news for you.”Miesa closed the door and walked over to the desk. “Really?”. She beamed.“You were so right about what you told me." Mirabelle opened her top drawer and brought out a file.Miesa sat down on the chair bouncing with excitement. If it was good news then it could mean only one thing but she didn't want to put her hopes up.Mirabelle opened the file and took a paper from it. “Well this here says that Cesari Sandoval is 99.9% your biological father.”~Flashback~Miesa kept

Miesa sat in class with her chin resting on her palm. Her feet bounced on the floor as she waited for her mother to walk through the door. Her teacher Miss Valerie was talking to someone on the phone by the window and she was looking out so Miesa took out the envelope from her bag and admired it again for the millionth time that day.The envelope contained precious information that couldn’t get into the wrong hands so she returned it to it’s safe place just as her mother walked into the classroom and her teacher was just ending her call.“I’m so sorry I’m late miss Valerie. It won’t happen again.” Ellie apologized profusely.“It’s fine.” Miss Valerie smiled. “Let’s go Mimi.” She said to her daughter.“Is.. Cesar waiting outside?”. Mimi had wanted to call him “dad” but got herself in time. Her mother couldn’t find out that she knew the truth now.“No he’s not." Ellie replied with a frown. "I told you Mimi…he’s a very busy man.”“He promised not to be too busy for me.” She pouted.“Ye
What the hell? Cesar’s eyes widened as a memory came to him. It was six years ago at Catherine Waldorf’s masquerade ball. He’d been invited even though he wasn’t as wealthy as he is now, he’d mingled around meeting new people and getting acquainted with top bosses in the business world when he saw her. She stood in a corner, dressed in a purple armless gown with a silver mask on and she was talking to a lady and she had a glass of champagne in her hand. The other lady said something and she let out a tinkering laugh that went straight to his gut. He knew he had to have her then but he was ambushed by Catherine who wanted him to meet her lovely daughter…but honestly the girl had an uncanny resemblance to queen jezebel in the bible. For politeness sake he’d stopped to talk to Cathy’s daughter and when he turned to look at the lady in the purple gown...she was gone. He cursed and went in search of her but couldn’t find her anywhere which made him frustrated. He almost gave up and w
“Elyon Rosella Devane!”. Cesar bellowed as he marched into the cafeteria. Everyone quieted as they watched the boss glance around with a thunderous pissed off look on his face. He was dressed in black jeans and a green polo shirt which had never happened before. “Elyon!!”. He called. They wondered what his precious personal assistant had done to upset the boss-their ever calm boss looked mad. Mad didn’t actually cut it. He was murderously angry and anyone who stepped out of line was doomed. They looked at each other waiting for someone to talk until the head of the IT department stood up to talk on their behalf. “Sir..she’s not here.” Cole Thorton informed him in a tremulous voice. “Where is she?”. Cesar bit out. “Um..don’t know sir." Cole said and looked around. "Does anyone know where she is?”. They all shook their heads quickly. “Tell her to see me when she gets back.” Cesar rumbled then turned and stormed out. “Yes sir.” Cole said but Cesar was long gone. The rumor mo
“Mommy! Someone’s at the door!”. Miesa called for the third time. She got no response but didn’t bother getting up to check what her mother was doing. She was watching her favorite cartoon; The Princess and the Frog and she hated interruptions. The doorbell continued ringing incessantly which annoyed Miesa to no end so she got up and went to answer the door herself.“Who is it?!”. She snapped as she unlocked the front door and opened it ready to lambast whoever it was but no words came out when she saw Cesar.“Cesar! Hi!”. She hugged him. "Come in!". She pulled him inside.“Hey princess.” He greeted her with a faint smile on his face.“What’s wrong?”. She asked, concerned. He wasn't looking as happy as he usually was whenever he saw her.“Where’s your mom?”. He looked around.“In her room.” She answered.“Ellie!”. Cesar yelled as he brushed past a surprised Miesa and stalked into the living room. "Elyon!”.Elyon walked into the living room wondering if she had conjured him up at her h
One week later Cesar let out a tired sigh and leaned back in his chair. He’d hardly slept a wink ever since he found out that he had a daughter. How could he sleep when every time he closed his eyes, he’d see Miesa’s brown eyes well up with tears because of him. Because he’d left her and now…Elyon refused to come back to work. Hell she wouldn’t even pick his calls. He was so frustrated and sleep deprived. The telephone rang making him jump. He shook his head at his own foolishness and picked up the receiver. “Yes?”. He drawled. “Sir..Elyon Devane is here to see you.” His new temporary assistant/secretary informed him. He sat up straight in his chair. “Elyon?”. “Yes sir. She’s here with..her daughter.” “Let them in.” He said. “Okay sir.” He dropped the receiver and quickly used his fingers to brush his hair. He’d run his fingers through it and now it looked like a bird’s nest. A tentative knock sounded on the door and opened to reveal Ellie. Behind her was Miesa looking all
