Miesa sat in class with her chin resting on her palm. Her feet bounced on the floor as she waited for her mother to walk through the door.
Her teacher Miss Valerie was talking to someone on the phone by the window and she was looking out so Miesa took out the envelope from her bag and admired it again for the millionth time that day.
The envelope contained precious information that couldn’t get into the wrong hands so she returned it to it’s safe place just as her mother walked into the classroom and her teacher was just ending her call.
“I’m so sorry I’m late miss Valerie. It won’t happen again.” Ellie apologized profusely.
“It’s fine.” Miss Valerie smiled.
“Let’s go Mimi.” She said to her daughter.
“Is.. Cesar waiting outside?”. Mimi had wanted to call him “dad” but got herself in time. Her mother couldn’t find out that she knew the truth now.
“No he’s not." Ellie replied with a frown. "I told you Mimi…he’s a very busy man.”
“He promised not to be too busy for me.” She pouted.
“Yeah..I believe I said so princess.” Cesar said from behind Ellie.
Daddy!
Miesa wanted to call him that so bad but she didn’t. It was all in due time.
“Cesar!". She ran to hug him. "You’re back!”.
“I’m back princess. I missed you.” He carried her up making her laugh and then kissed her forehead.
He always felt complete whenever he hugged her- like a part of him that had gone missing before has been found and replaced.
“Cesar...this is Valerie Baker, she’s Mimi’s class teacher. Miss Valerie meet Cesari Sandoval my boss.” Ellie said.
“Nice to meet you in person finally.” Cesar held out his hand. "Mimi’s told me a lot about you.”
“Good things I hope? Nice to meet you too Mr Sandoval.” Valerie shook his hand then her brows furrowed as she looked at Cesar and Miesa. "Wow! the two of you look so much alike that it’s uncanny.”
“Really? Funny enough, her mother has never noticed.” Cesar said.
Ellie didn’t like being put on the spot and she looked like a deer caught in headlights. She let out a slightly nervous laugh and said that she agreed with what Valerie said.
“Do you now?”. Her subconscious mocked her. "Fool”.
“Shall we go?”. She asked anxiously.
“Let’s go." Mimi nodded.
“Have a nice day Miss Baker.” Cesar flashed her a smile.
“You too Mr Sandoval.” Valerie waved.
“So you do agree with me finally huh?”. Cesar asked her as he drove out of the school premises.
“Yeah but it does not mean anything.” She said hastily. "It’s no big deal.”
“I know." Cesar said. "Do you want pizza princess?”.
“Yes. Pepperoni pizza.” Miesa beamed.
“You got it princess.” He smiled at her.
“You will spoil her if you keep asking her what she wants to eat every day." Ellie reprimanded him. "She'll get used to it and then I won't be able to stop her from wanting stuff everyday."
“I’m acting like a dad remember?”. He asked her. "Dads do this."
“This is lesson number one then.” Ellie replied.
Cesar chuckled and nodded. “Yes ma’am. Whatever you say.”

“You’re late Lukas.” Cesar growled when his PI was ushered into his home office. "I needed that information last week.”
“Sorry boss. Something came up." Lukas apologized.
“I hope whatever you got is worth the delay.” Cesar grumbled.
“You know I don’t disappoint boss." Lukas smirked and handed him the big envelope. "Everything about her is in there.”
“Everything?”. He looked skeptical.
“Including her parents. You’re in for a big surprise boss.” Lukas told him.
“You can go. I’ll have the money transferred to your account.” Cesar dismissed him.
“Okay. Hey so I was wondering if I can take one of your maids home?”. Lukas questioned.
Cesar stared at him in confusion. “Why?”.
“She’s pretty and I need to get laid.” He gave a half shrug.
“What about your fugly girlfriend?”.
“Broke up with the bitch.” He shrugged.
“Go find a prostitute to lay with Lukas.” Cesar waved him away.
“I’ll take her in lieu of payment.” Lukas said.
Cesar leaned back in his chair. “Seriously? Who’s this lady you’re bending over backwards for?”.
“Don’t know her name. She’s really pretty though..seems very shy.”
“Go bring her here.”
Lukas left immediately and returned with the said lady. She was beautiful and dark skinned and tall – taller than Lukas himself.
“Aisha? Get your fucking hands off her man. She’s off limits to you.” Cesar ordered harshly.
“She your family boss?”. Lukas was surprised.
“No. I’m her guardian and she’s mute." Cesar informed him in a flat voice. "She’s just 18.”
“Right." Lukas nodded and stepped away from her. "Sorry." He apologized.
“She’s not for the likes of you.” Cesar said. "Now get out of my house Lukas.”
“I’m gone.” Lukas said and rushed out of the office.
Cesar stood up,skirted the desk and went to meet Aisha.
“Pay him no mind A. He’s a nincompoop.”
Aisha smiled and nodded.
“Go watch TV or something. I’ll come join you.”
“Okay. Don’t be long.” She signed.
“I won’t.” He assured her.
He watched her leave before he returned to his desk and sat down. He puffed up his cheeks and blew out his breath suddenly nervous which made him laugh.
He was hardly ever nervous but this one was different. He was about to find out Elyon Devane’s secrets.
He broke the seal of the envelope and took out the contents in it. There were pictures and a lot of papers so he started with the pictures first. There were pictures of her growing up, birthday pics, high school graduation pics but the one that stood out was the picture of her dressed in a purple armless gown and on her face was a silver mask.
She looked very young, around eighteen.. nineteen?and she had her arms around a man’s neck whom upon closer inspection was...him.
Cesari Islan Sandoval.
What the hell? Cesar’s eyes widened as a memory came to him. It was six years ago at Catherine Waldorf’s masquerade ball. He’d been invited even though he wasn’t as wealthy as he is now, he’d mingled around meeting new people and getting acquainted with top bosses in the business world when he saw her. She stood in a corner, dressed in a purple armless gown with a silver mask on and she was talking to a lady and she had a glass of champagne in her hand. The other lady said something and she let out a tinkering laugh that went straight to his gut. He knew he had to have her then but he was ambushed by Catherine who wanted him to meet her lovely daughter…but honestly the girl had an uncanny resemblance to queen jezebel in the bible. For politeness sake he’d stopped to talk to Cathy’s daughter and when he turned to look at the lady in the purple gown...she was gone. He cursed and went in search of her but couldn’t find her anywhere which made him frustrated. He almost gave up and w
“Elyon Rosella Devane!”. Cesar bellowed as he marched into the cafeteria. Everyone quieted as they watched the boss glance around with a thunderous pissed off look on his face. He was dressed in black jeans and a green polo shirt which had never happened before. “Elyon!!”. He called. They wondered what his precious personal assistant had done to upset the boss-their ever calm boss looked mad. Mad didn’t actually cut it. He was murderously angry and anyone who stepped out of line was doomed. They looked at each other waiting for someone to talk until the head of the IT department stood up to talk on their behalf. “Sir..she’s not here.” Cole Thorton informed him in a tremulous voice. “Where is she?”. Cesar bit out. “Um..don’t know sir." Cole said and looked around. "Does anyone know where she is?”. They all shook their heads quickly. “Tell her to see me when she gets back.” Cesar rumbled then turned and stormed out. “Yes sir.” Cole said but Cesar was long gone. The rumor mo
“Mommy! Someone’s at the door!”. Miesa called for the third time. She got no response but didn’t bother getting up to check what her mother was doing. She was watching her favorite cartoon; The Princess and the Frog and she hated interruptions. The doorbell continued ringing incessantly which annoyed Miesa to no end so she got up and went to answer the door herself.“Who is it?!”. She snapped as she unlocked the front door and opened it ready to lambast whoever it was but no words came out when she saw Cesar.“Cesar! Hi!”. She hugged him. "Come in!". She pulled him inside.“Hey princess.” He greeted her with a faint smile on his face.“What’s wrong?”. She asked, concerned. He wasn't looking as happy as he usually was whenever he saw her.“Where’s your mom?”. He looked around.“In her room.” She answered.“Ellie!”. Cesar yelled as he brushed past a surprised Miesa and stalked into the living room. "Elyon!”.Elyon walked into the living room wondering if she had conjured him up at her h
One week later Cesar let out a tired sigh and leaned back in his chair. He’d hardly slept a wink ever since he found out that he had a daughter. How could he sleep when every time he closed his eyes, he’d see Miesa’s brown eyes well up with tears because of him. Because he’d left her and now…Elyon refused to come back to work. Hell she wouldn’t even pick his calls. He was so frustrated and sleep deprived. The telephone rang making him jump. He shook his head at his own foolishness and picked up the receiver. “Yes?”. He drawled. “Sir..Elyon Devane is here to see you.” His new temporary assistant/secretary informed him. He sat up straight in his chair. “Elyon?”. “Yes sir. She’s here with..her daughter.” “Let them in.” He said. “Okay sir.” He dropped the receiver and quickly used his fingers to brush his hair. He’d run his fingers through it and now it looked like a bird’s nest. A tentative knock sounded on the door and opened to reveal Ellie. Behind her was Miesa looking all
“That’s Cesar all right.” A lady muttered as she watched Cesar laughing and playing with a little girl who looked so much like him. “Annie must see this.” She took out her phone and snapped a picture of Cesar, Elyon and Miesa then she sent it to Antoinette with a caption; Cesar Sandoval left you for this woman?.Two minutes later She got a call from Antoinette and picked it but lowered her voice so Cesar wouldn’t hear her since they weren’t sitting so far away.“Hey Annie.” She said.“Solange..what was that about?”. Annie demanded. "Are you fucking with me right now?”.“I wish." Solange said. "He’s getting all chummy with her and the little girl. They look like one happy family.”“Where are you?”. Annie asked.“Twitches.”“I’ll be right with you. Don’t let them out of your sight.” Annie ordered harshly.“Yeah.” Solange said and the call disconnected. She eyed Cesari over as she slipped her phone back in her purse. “It’ll be Showtime soon for you Cesari Sandoval.” She smirked evilly, k
Arya Gomez traced the face of the little baby in the photo and let out a rueful sigh. She had regrets about her past and the way she’d treated her only son years ago and now...he was the richest man in the world. She turned the other page and smiled when she saw the photo of his first birthday. She’d been sober that day and had decided to bake him a cake but it had turned into a disaster and she’d ended up getting him a cupcake with a little candle in the middle. Her little boy had been ecstatic to see the cake and he’d flashed her a gorgeous dimpled smile which she’d captured immediately. He didn’t smile often so when he did, she just had to take that picture. She turned to the last page which was a picture of him,his assistant and their little girl as they dined at Twitches. She was a grandma but she’d never know her granddaughter because to her precious son...his mother was dead to him.“Hey Mom,I can’t find my car keys.” Her daughter Leticia said as she walked into the gazebo. "I
Elyon woke up with a start to the sound of glass breaking. She turned on the lamp on her nightstand and checked her alarm clock. It was just two am on Sunday morning which made her wonder if it was from the next house or where?. She heard the noise again and scrambled out of bed then ran out of her room barefoot to Miesa’s room only to collide with a hard body in the hallway and she fell back on her ass. It was definitely a man dressed in black and he had a mask on so she couldn’t see his face. He stalked menacingly towards her and she moved back unable to get up. “Who..who are you and what do you want?”. Elyon tried to sound brave but her voice shook. She hoped her baby was okay. “I’m here to deliver a message to you.” The man’s voice was so deep and distorted that she could hardly make out what he was saying. “What?”. She had to ask again. “Mommy!”. Miesa screamed out from somewhere. "Mommy!”. Elyon shot up from her position on the floor and made to run to Miesa but the huge
Cesar’s blood ran cold when he saw the woman with his daughter. What was she doing here and how did she find Miesa?. She was smiling at something Miesa was saying which made him furious. Why was she acting like a saint when she was anything but?being called the devil’s spawn was too small a word for her.He marched across the room to where they sat, towering over them which made them look up.“Daddy!”. Miesa squealed in delight and flung herself at him very happy to see him.“Hey princess.” Cesar didn’t tear his eyes away from the woman sitting down staring at him with the same eyes-electric blue. He hated her fucking guts.“Daddy meet my new friend,Mrs Gomez." Miesa told him. "She said she’s a friend of yours?”.“Where’s doctor Rothschild?”. He ignored her question.“She went to see how momma is doing.” Miesa replied. "Do you know her daddy?”. She pointed at Arya who was now on her feet.“Yes princess I do.” Cesar said grudgingly wishing he didn’t.“Oh..Mr Sandoval, you’re here.” Doc
Months later “Cesar!”. Ellie screamed. "Cesar!”. Cesar rushed into the closet and stopped short when he saw Ellie holding her stomach and she was breathing heavily. He looked down at the floor and made a face. “Did you pee on yourself?”. He asked. “My water just broke idiot!". She snapped. "The baby’s coming!”. Cesar froze as he stared at her. “What?”. “Cesar!”. She screamed. Cesar jumped. “What do I do?”. “He’s asking me stupid questions!." She exclaimed through gritted teeth as she tried not to scream out. "Hospital!”. Cesar nodded and yelled for Maia to get the baby bag before he proceeded to lift Ellie up in his arms but he didn’t expect her to beat him up. “Hey!what now!”. He protested. "I'm taking you to the hospital." “I’m in my underwear idiot!." She gestured to her body. Cesar looked at her and bit his cheek to stop himself from laughing then he nodded and went to get her a dress. “I have to change first." Ellie said. “You’re cranky." He stated drily and went to
Cesar stood on the balcony just staring at nothing in particular. It was the last day of their stay in South Africa and they'd enjoyed every bit of it. Sun City was fun but they had to go back home and he had to go back to work.He and Ellie had gone for her check up today and everything was looking good but Ellie hadn't wanted to know the sex of the baby so he'd told the doctor to whisper it in his ear which made him smile like a Cheshire cat."You're not allowed to do that." Ellie had protested hitting him immediately they walked out of the office. "That's called cheating.""No it's not." He'd complained. "I have a right to know if I want to."She had huffed which made him smile. She went silent for a long time even as they got into the car and Warren drove away from the hospital so he turned to look at her."You're not mad, are you?". He asked. "I can unknow it if you want."That brought a half smile to her face. "Unknow it?there's no word like that." She scoffed. "No I'm not mad.
Tristan dreaded going back to the home he'd grown up in. He'd been treated worse than a slave. Spat on, abused and whatnot and he'd thought he'd never have to come back but here he was staring at the house whilst seated in the car. He'd been too excited to see Abby so he'd left his aunt Evie's house two hours earlier forgetting that Abby's school didn't let out until two pm and it was just one pm so he had to wait one hour before he could see her. His phone rang bringing him out of his thoughts and he took it out of his pocket, sighed then answered the call."Hey Gwen." He said. Ever since he started following her on Instagram and other media platforms, she somehow got her hands on his phone number and had been disturbing him since then. He liked her, she was a very nice girl and all that but he didn't want to get her hopes up continuing this charade. She was just eight years old so she had no business crushing on him or any boy for that matter."Hi! Are you busy?". She asked."Yea
The next day “Oh my God!". Ellie exclaimed suddenly as she stared at her iPad. She looked horrified and he wondered what she'd seen that could have made her look that way. “Are you okay?Is it the baby?”. Cesar asked. He hoped it wasn't the baby. They were still within the vicinity of the airport and a hospital surely wasn't nearby that they could take her to. "Talk to me." They were on their way to Evie’s from the airport and the kids were asleep. “No! Look." She thrust her iPad in front of him. "Cassandra Nash and her family are dead...all of them.” Cesar read the news article and felt no remorse whatsoever that Cassandra was dead. Infact he wanted to celebrate and shout from the rooftop that they were finally free. He still had enemies but they were ones who wouldn't dream of trying to hurt him and his family. Not if they valued their lives. “You’re not saying anything." Ellie spoke up when he kept staring at the news article and pictures. Cesar returned her iPad. “I have noth
A Week later“Sir...Dom has arrived.” David informed Cesar.“Finally! I thought he’d never get here." Cesar rolled his eyes. "Bring him here.” It had only been a week of waiting for the guy to finally get his butt here but it had felt like years and Cesar hated waiting for anyone. If not that he really needed the guy, he'd have just let him go. Find someone else to do the job.David nodded and left. Five minutes later he returned with Dominic.“Thank you David." Cesar waved him away. "Sit Dom.” He gestured to the chair in front of his desk. "I’ve been waiting for you.”“Why?”. Dom asked.“David didn’t tell you?”. Cesar arched a brow.Dom shrugged.Cesar picked up some pictures and passed it to Dom who took it and checked it out. The indifferent expression on his face turned stormy which surprised Cesar.“Cassandra Nash.” Dom spat.“Yes.” He nodded.“You know her?.” Dom asked.“Not personally." Cesar said. "I have scores to settle with her.”“She hurt you?”. Dom rumbled.“Tried to blow
Cesar was worried about Ellie because she'd refused to go out after that bombing incident. She also had nightmares about Cassandra trying to kill her and it didn't help that Tristan seemed to agree with her that the woman would stop at nothing until Ellie was dead. He didn't know why Cass was hell bent on seeing Ellie dead even after she found out the whole truth about how Belle tried to kill Miesa. Granted, Belle was her niece and she wouldn't want to see her hurt but better Belle being in a coma than Miesa dead. He tapped his finger against his chin in thought as he stared at the TV without really seeing it. It'd been a few weeks since the incident but it still seemed like it happened yesterday. People were still talking about it and he knew that more one television presenter wanted to interview him to talk about that particular incident but as usual he'd declined. They knew better than to ask for an interview but they did so anyway which annoyed him. Thankfully they didn't ambu
“Arya...calm down I’m fine." Cesar told her. "No, there’s no need to come over.” He didn't know why he'd unblocked her number but now he was wishing he hadn't. He'd been talking to her for almost ten minutes now and he felt a headache coming on.Arya kept rambling on the phone making Cesar sigh. She was clearly very worried and wouldn’t rest until she saw him. He didn't want her to come. She'd want to hug him and he wouldn't be able to stand it.“Mom!”. He cut her off.Arya went silent.“Thank you." He breathed. "I’m fine. I’ll send you a photo if you want proof.”“That’s fine." She said in a shaky voice. "I’m so glad you’re okay Cesar.”“Yeah.” He muttered. "Thanks for calling."“Can I send you ice cream? I know you like rocky road.”“Uh…okay". Cesar said. "Sure.”“Give me...ten minutes. Kisses.” She hung up.Cesar dropped his phone on his bedside table with a sigh.“You okay?I heard you yelling at someone.” Ellie walked into the bedroom.“I wasn’t yelling…per se." He said. "Arya wou
Cesar and Ellie took Miesa for her monthly checkup and they were very happy when the doctor told them that Miesa’s cancer was in remission but she’d need to continue maintenance therapy for a couple years until they were sure it wouldn’t come back. It was wonderful news for them especially Miesa who'd been worried she'd never get to live forever with her family.“I’m so happy mommy, daddy." Miesa smiled big at them as they walked out of the hospital. "I’m free!”.“Yes baby." Ellie smiled back. "I’m happy too.”Cesar’s phone rang as they got close to the waiting car. He took it out of his pocket and frowned when he saw Tristan’s name on the screen and picked it. Ellie and Miesa decided to go get ice cream while he talked on the phone.“Hey kid, what’s up?”. He asked.“Dad…please please tell me you’re not in the car right now?”. Tristan’s voice shook.“Uh...no. why?”. He frowned.“There’s a bomb. Don’t get…”As if on cue, there was a sudden explosion that threw Cesar off his feet and he
“How’s Elyon doing?”. Oliver asked Cesar. They were on FaceTime.“Fine. Thank God I got there the time I did or it’d have been a different story.” He said.“And the guys?”. Oliver inquired.“Dead.” Cesar replied flatly. He couldn't have let any one of them go free after what they did. It was not possible.Oliver’s eyes widened. “All of them?”.“Yes. Including...my dad.” Cesar said. Even now he still couldn't believe everything that had happened. That maniac had been his father who'd hurt his mother and his mother had hurt him because he looked like his father and then he killed his father because he'd kidnapped his wife and hurt his mother for the second time. Not that he gave a damn about Arya now… far from it. The damage she'd done to him was enough to last him two lifetimes.“What do you mean? I thought you said your father was dead?”. Oliver looked confused. "I didn't know a person…"“Oh that was just wishful thinking." He stated drily. "Arya told me something else.”“Wow. So you
