Chapter Thirty-Five - The Surreptitious Overture

She came out about thirty minutes later. I couldn't help but cast questioning looks at Roseville.

"What happened?" I finally did ask the all important question.

"Nothing. Nothing much," she answered, giving me a mirthful smile.

The doctor came out a while later, smiling cheerfully at me. I wondered what prompted the unusual smile. I was filled with foreboding. I turned to face Roseville, she looked every inch resolute. I then ran my eyes back to the doctor.

"What's it doctor? Anything wrong?" I was perplexed.

"Nothing Ben," he winked.

My mind could bear it anymore. Well, maybe I was the one overthinking everything.

"So doctor, when will the results be ready?" I asked, to clear the air.

"In two days time, Ben," he replied.

"Okay thanks, doctor," I said.

"You're welcome, Ben. So the bills…" he reminded.

"You'll have to meet with the sales department outside to settle them," he hinted.

"Alright doctor. Thanks a lot," I said.

We bolted out of the place afterwards and headed home, after
