Author's POV

“ If you come near my daughter, that would be the last thing you would do with your pathetic life." Charlotte swore at Charles. His eyes locked on her, unruffled.

Sometimes she wondered why she had anything to do with a loser like Charles in the first place

“Well see about that, Mrs chase." Charles boomed.

A hiss escaped Charlotte's lips, exhaustion scribbled away on her pretty face. Her frustration was palpable. She tightened her grip on her purse and walked out of Charles apartment, with demure.

Charlotte slammed the door behind her,her stiletto clicking against the worn-out verandah as she made her way back to her car. She felt satisfied having aired her mind to Charles while cautioning him to back off from trying to get their daughter. Charlotte was certain that her threat would keep Charles at bay and she took solace in that.

She entered her car, placed her purse beside her,adjusted her rearview mirror and drove away from the slums, diverting into the main road.
