Chapter 4 : Lorraine's discovery

On the day of the wedding everything is ready . Lorraine went into the motion of preparing for the occasion. "There you  are Miss Lorraine. You are the most beautiful bride I've dolled up.  Your flaming hair complements  your green eyes. There's not much that I can do you are already simply breathtaking." 

"Oh shut up Ginger,  don't make it harder than it is. If I'm the one to choose  I don't want to make a fuss on it." She replied sarcastically.

"Oh but,  you are marrying the most eligible bachelor in the business world, not to mention rich and handsome. Most women would give up anything just to be in your shoes."

" They can have my shoes if they want it!"  She retorted.

"There you are! Lorraine my dear." Her father steps into the room for the customary father and bride talk before the wedding. Her stylist and make up artist leave the room to give them privacy.

"You know how I feel about this wedding Dad. I hope you are happy at my expense."

"Come on dear just think of it as your saving your family from humiliation, beside you are making not only our family but old Peter Collins happy." Her father try to sugar coat his words just to make her feel good.

"Our family Dad? The way I am treated it's more like I'm not counted as a family after grandma died, and saving your so called family is not my responsibility, not after the way your wife and daughter lavish lifestyle, splurging on the money that you and my mother work hard for my future."  She let out her resentment. Thinking she might not have another chance to do so.

"That's enough Lorraine! Don't make me raise my hand on you today and ruin the occasion!"

" Dad you already ruined my life.  But don't worry I will marry Mateo Collins. At least after that you will not have to decide how I run my life." She got up to fix her make-up in the washroom but she stop before entering the door, she heard voices gigling. It was her stepmother and Zee.

"Poor Lorraine she never knew that her so called inheritance is gone.  She'll be marrying and sacrificing for nothing." She heard Zee giggles with what her mother said.

"And after  the Collins'  will merge the two companies, I will find a reason for Lorraine to be disown and hated  so that you get all the things that is due to her. Ha ha ha."

Lorraine experience a series of emotions shocked ,anger and the feeling to retaliate.  But she controls herself. "Never again will you take advantage of me. Never again will you make me the object of your ridicule, Never again! "She told herself and return to the room wipe her unshed tears and dusted off her troubles.

She shows a picture of calm and collected when she line up for the wedding procession with her father in her side making sure she will not back off and run the last minute.

In the altar  Mateo stand  beside his best man with a straight and expressionless  face. For some who did not know him personally might think that he is nervous and trying to control himself  as he continues to tap his fingers against his side. His parents knows that he is against this union, but the patriarch of the famil's health is more important.

Jessica Collins shed a year as she saw her son stand on his place in the altar. She knows about Mateo search for his dream girl, even though he never mention it to his family. She wish that something good will come out of this marriage.

She admired at the bride as she march towards the altar. She met the girl once and she noticed that she is well bred and very likeable but there is something she cannot figure out. Mateo and his bride had never met previously. Partly due to his son's doing . He doesn't show up when the scheduled  meeting is set. So that  his bride didn't attend the family dinner they arrange before the wedding. Not that she blamed her.

The ceremony was attended only by their close friends and business partners as well as a few of their relatives.As she reach the altar  both families waited with abated breath anticipating what happens next. Each has their own thoughts about what happens next.

Both the bride and the groom go with the motion of the ceremony. Both have somethingd running on their minds. Mateo thinks that , "With his marriage I will clip your wings  I will worked hard to show grandpa the true person you are ruthless gold digger. You will not get anything from me. He he he." He smiled with his thoughts.

As if they both can read each other's  thoughts, Look from under her veii she can see the man she is marrying gave a subtle grin. "So you think that I am  a gold digger ready to suck you dry  then let me show you how I am going to slapped it back to your handsome face. You ruthless man . How dare you treat me like a commodity. You will remember this day as I exact my revenge to you. You think you can push me over ? Let me show you  what a pushover Lorraine Adams cam be!" She thought.

There so much Lorraine is been thinking she refuse to dwell on the outcome of her plans, but one things she is sure is that She will work hard to claim what belongs to her.

 "... and now I pronounce you husband and wife." The officiant look at Mateo smiling . "Mateo you may kiss the bride."

Everyone waited as Mateo lift her veil to seal the vows. Mateo was shocked when he take a good look at the woman he married. "You!"
