Chapter 3 : Theo the playboy

Feeling broken hearted Lorraine decided to accept the arrange marriage that her father presented to her. Her father was very happy  he was trying to find ways to have his daughter Lorraine to accept. But just like a snap of his fingers she accepted there must be some reason for her sudden acceptance, but he doesn't want to dwell on that. He immediately contacted Peter Collins to tell that all is well on his end.

While Mateo's grandfather arrange for a family meeting for both families, but first he had to make his grandson agree to the marriage.

Mateo on his end was so disgusted with the idea that he asked his private eye to hurry and look for that someone is save him from this situation. But he was disappointed just like always.

He opened his  laptop and look at its wallpaper lovingly. A drawing base on his memory of a girl with flaming locks covering her head, it was originally wet from the dip in the river water when she plunge in to save him when he fall. Her tantalising green eyes that was beautifully contrasted her red hair and her careless smile that seems to tell him, come on and get me. He had been carrying this memory in his mind hoping that someday he will meet again his red haired angel.

He was in high school for the first time registered to a summer camp, when the incident happened. He slipped from a hanging bridge that some of the bullies rock and he slipped it was not that deep but he is unable to swim  he swallowed river water and was carried away by the river current. He thought it was the end of him when someone jumped into the water to save him. She administer him a mouth to mouth  resucitation  that rock his world when he saw his saviour.

She smiled at him and said. "Next time you come to camping be ready you have the whole year to learn how to swim and all that stuff about  outdoor activities. Those bullies will not stop until you show them you can take care of yourself." Again she smiled and tap his  shoulders and leave him in the care of the medics. He wasn't able to asked for her name. He thought that he will still have time since it's still in the beginning of the program.

But when his parents learned of the incident he was immediately recalled and sent home. For the whole year he followed her advice to make his body strong learn outdoor activities.

But by the next season he enlist himself the girl was not there. Some said she is a regular but that year  she did not return and the years that came after. Year after year Mateo enlist in that same summer camp program, until it's time for him to go to college and study abroad. Wherever he went who ever he is with, he carries the memory of that girl in one summer of his life.

"Maybe she is married now with kids and a loving  husband,  she might be a CEO in some company making a name in a male dominated world. Unlike him who wasn't able to move on with his infatuation of that girl, that he seek her persona in other women, thus earning him as the playboy In the business world. His thoughts was returned to the present when his phone ring.

"Yes Mom!" 

"Theo  your grandpa is asking for you son. You know what it means  so please make up your mind to concede to his will  it might help him in his deterioting health."

",Okay Mom I will be there tonight." 

"Make it early son. He sleeps early."

"Okay Mom!"

"Bye son take care! "

"You too Mom , love you." Mateo look again in his wallpaper "I guess I must face the inevitable my angel. We met but maybe we are not destined to be together. I hope you have a good life."  He said to the picture and shut his laptop.

When  Mateo visited his grand father that night  he already made up his mind of what he is going to do. He accepted the marriage arrangements. But he did not attend the  pre-wedding dinner date. 

Since the family  feared that the couple might change their mind they hurry the preparation for just over a month.

On the day before the wedding  Lorraine receive gifts from the groom's family, along with it is an envelope a personal gift from Mateo Collins. She opened the envelope wondering what it contains.property title? Stock bonds? or contracts.  She doesn't want anything that she did not worked for, or things that is not rightfully belongs to her.

She read the contents, she was shocked it is unsigned   prenup  agreement and a contract that the marriage is purely business arrangement and  that the marriage will be dissolved after two years if they won't be able to have children and that she get nothing after the dissolution of marriage .  A note was attached  telling her that she won't be able to tricked him, just like her family had tricked his grandfather to a marriage into his  family.

Lorraine was fuming with anger, she paces the floor of the room trying to vent her anger Into something. "Who does he think he is!  What does he think of me a gold digger? I will show him."  She took the keys of her car to storm in his office , she reach her door then  she stopped and think. He may not be in his office and since she didn't see him personally she feared that she may attack the wtprong person. Then a thought hit her. What a better way to get her message across. She smiled and calm herself " hell has  no fury like a woman scorned" she recalls a famous proverb. " Mateo Collins you better be ready." She said holding the document that she was tempted to tear but she changed her mind. That night Lorraine had the best sleep for the longest time anticipating the time when she will have her revenge.
