Chapter 3

*BRITTANY’S POV*

LUNCH BREAK

Tiana, Ezra and i are seated together at the cafeteria. We ate in silence and the silence is quite disturbing.

“Okay, something is definitely wrong with you, Brit. You look unusually dull today” Ezra said breaking the silence.

“Yeah, I noticed it too. Did something happen?” Tiana added looking at me.

I faked laugh. “Nothing is wrong. You guys don’t know what you are talking about”

“That’s a fake laughter. I know you, Brit” Tiana rolled her eyes. She knows me so well.

“It’s just....” I started while their whole concentration was on me.

“I’m just dull because I lost my puppy and I’m really sad about it”

“You don’t have a puppy, Brit” Ezra and Tiana said at the same time rolling their eyes.

“I don’t? Oh yes! I don’t.” I laughed nervously.

“Nothing is wrong okay? I’m fine” I told them and removed my gaze from them focusing on my food but I could still feel them staring at me intently.

AFTERNOON.

I laid on the bed brining out my iPad. My parents aren’t around and I’m grateful for that.

My phone started ringing. It was a FaceTime call from Tiana.

I picked and her face popped up.

“Hey baby! How are you doing!” She said.

“Uhm..why is your room so scattered?” I asked looking at the screen.

“I’m to lazy to clean it up. I will just do that later” She huffed.

“Eissh! Why did you call me?”

“Wow. Now you are questioning me for calling you. Questioning me for caring. If it were to be Ezra, you would have been screaming” She rolled her eyes. That was Tiana, being dramatic, as usual.

“Oh stop it!” I blushed at the mention of Ezra.

“We would talk about your crush later. Tell me what’s up with you. And don’t you dare tell me nothing. I know something is wrong but I guess you didn’t want to tell Ezra about it and there was no free time alone with you at school today so start talking” She said with a strict tone.

“You know you can’t force me right?” I rolled my eyes.

“Oh really!, you are so dead when we meet in school tomorrow!”

“Sorry mom” I apologized sarcastically.

“Now tell me what happened”

“Well,” I started.

“I’m getting married” I told her.

Tiana laughed looking at me like I had gone crazy. “Last time I checked the calendar, it’s not April yet”

“I’m not pranking you, Tiana. I’m serious”

“What? How?”

“My dad said so and my mom supports him so I guess I have no choice”

“What! You still have a long way to go Brit, you can’t get married now. What’s wrong with your parents? No offense but someone needs to speak sense into them”

“Exactly. I’m not ready for marriage and the fuck, I like Ezra. I don’t want to get married” I sniffled.

“Poor Brit, don’t cry. Should I come over?” Tiana asked.

“I’m not sure my dad would allow any visitor of mine to the house now” I said.

“Gosh! Who are you getting married to? When? Will you finish high school? Are you going to go to college. Are you...”

I cut her off. “Tiana, calm down. I’m getting married to Wyatt Hayden.”

“Wow. I know him!”

“There is nothing to wow there. He’s way older than me.” I squeezed my face.

“I...I don’t know what to say” Tiana said as her facial expression changed.

“It’s fine. Don’t know the date I’m getting married but I feel like It’s soon”

“Isn’t there a way to persuade your dad? Make him stop his plans”

“I don’t know. My dad doesn’t go back on his words. He doesn’t even care about my happiness!. All he cares about is money!”

“Brit, I’m sorry this has to happen to you” Tiana said sadly.

“There is nothing I can do order than to accept my fate” I said at the verge of crying.

“Brit, don’t cry ...please. If you cry, I will cry too”

“I won’t.”

“Promise?”

“I promise” I managed to smile.

“Tiana, can you please not tell anybody I’m getting married.” I requested.

“What about Ezra?”

“I don’t want him to know. Please don’t tell him”

“You know he is going to know eventually right?”

“Yeah, yeah. But please don’t tell him. At least for now.”

“Okay. I won’t” She promised.

“Thank you. Gotta go now. Wanna do my assignment” I told her.

“Okay baby and don’t think too much okay?”

“Okay ma’am and clean up your room”

“I will...try” she chuckled and the FaceTime call ended. I dropped my phone and hugged my pillow tightly.

It feels good telling Tiana about it.

I got up from my bed and opened my backpack and brought out my homework.

The week was a boring one. Nick drives me to school everyday. I can’t hang out with  and Tiana except in school.

I didn’t tell Ezra yet but he suspects something is wrong somewhere just don’t know what.

It’s weekend. Saturday morning to be precise. It will be so fucking boring because I will be stuck at home throughout.

I had my bath and made to leave my room to the dining room for breakfast but met one of the maids at the door.

She has a box with her. “I was told to give you this” she said and bowed slightly.

I nodded scrunching my brows in confusion and collected it from her.

I entered my room back closing the door behind me and placed the box on my bed.

I unwrapped it. In the box is a striped summer Clifton dress, black high heel and red purse.

“Huh, is this for me?” I wondered and left it on the bed and exit my room.

Luckily my mom was in the living room. I walked up to her.

“Mom, are the one that asked the maid to deliver the dress to me?”

“Yes darling. Do you like it?” She asked with a smile on her face.

“yes. Is it for an occasion?” I asked.

“Oh yes. You are going on a dinner date tonight” she replied.

“Huh?” I arched my brows.

“With your soon to be husband” She said and my mood changed immediately.

A dinner date with Wyatt fucking Hayden. Are you kidding me?
