Chapter 5

It took me a while to lapse back into consciousness. I took my phone from the floor and with shaky hands, I logged in back to I*******m.

The post already has 100k likes and bloggers were reposting it already.

This is not good, this is not good at all.

I entered Hayden’s inbox and messaged him immediately.

TO HAYDEN- why the fuck did you snap me without my permission. And could you please delete your post on I*******m. I told you I’m Not  interested in getting married to you.

He viewed it but didn’t reply. In anger, I sent another message.

TO HAYDEN- Reply me!!!

He replied me after three minutes.

FROM HAYDEN- Hey wifey, how are you?

I clenched my fist in anger. He didn’t even reply to my message but asked how I am. The fuck, I’m not fine!

My phone started ringing. I picked without checking the caller’s ID.

“Brittany!” Tiana’s high pitched voice said.

“Yeah” I replied dryly.

“You went on a date with Hayden!! The news is all over the net. Baby girl, you are trending!” She screamed.

“I know. I know. Am I supposed to be happy?” I utters dryly.

“Brittany...” she called softly.

“It’s fine. I guess it’s my fate to get married at this age. Ezra knows about it already and I am 100% sure he is never going to talk to me again so there is nothing I can do again” I said sadly.

“Britta...”

I cuts her off. “It’s fine. It’s fine! I’m just going to cry in my pillow” i said and before she could talk, I cut off the call.

Days flew by,

Ezra didn’t call and when I tried to, he didn’t pick. Tiana calls me everyday to check up on me. I have refused to leave the house. The whole school knows about it already and it will be so embarrassing going to school so I just stayed at home. Going through the net and eating. I’m tired of crying already.

While others are preparing for the school’s prom, I’m at home preparing for my wedding.

It’s just a month away and as the bride, I would I say I’m not ready.

Hayden and I haven’t seen since our last ruined date. He didn’t call me and I won’t bother to either.

I was in my room watching a vid on YouTube when the door to my room opened and my mom entered the room.

“Hey Brit!” She said cheerfully.

“Mom” I replied dryly.

She sat beside me and brought her iPad into view.

“So which of this wedding dress do you love? The first one or se...”

“The first one” I interrupted her without checking the dresses. The fuck, I’m not interested in this.

“Brit!, you haven’t even checked it!” My mom said.

I looked at the iPad and I gasped. The first wedding dress is so beautiful.

“Wow” was what escaped my lips. “The first one is so beaut...no, I mean. Just go with the first one” I scoffed. I don’t need to be interested. I am not supposed to like it.

Get a grip of your self , Brittany.

My mom looked at me and smiled.

“Looks like you are excited about your wedding”

“What! No, I don’t even like the man I am getting married to” I huffed.

My mom sighed and holds my hand rubbing it gently. “Baby, I know this is sudden. You getting married so soon but I promise you you would get used to it. You don’t like Hayden because you haven’t gotten to know him and you are not making any attempt to. I promise you, just try to be friends with him during this period. Your wedding is just a month away. Even if it’s an arranged marriage. Don’t you want your marriage to be a blast, be happy and have fun?”

“But...I’m not ready” my lips shook.

“That’s what you think. Anyways, you love the first dress right?” She changed the topic leaving me to think about her words.

In as much as she is right but it’s also wrong I’m getting married at 18.

Oh well...

Three days later...

“Hello” I said into the phone. An unknown number just called me and the person haven’t said a word.

“Okay...I’m hanging up right away” I said and made to press the red button.

“Hey wifey” a voice I recognize as Hayden’s said and I rolled my eyes.

“So you probably is rolling your eyes right now..”

“How did you even know that?” I scoffed.

“So I’m right”

“Tch!”

“So our wedding is just a month away and..”

“I am aware about that. You don’t have to remind me” I cut it off abruptly.

“and we haven’t really gone out and...”

“Your point?”

He continued his sentence again ignoring me completely. “And you ruined the first one. So let’s go on a dinner date this weekend” he finally finished his sentence.

“Eishh! That sounds like a command. Aren’t you suppose to ask me?”

“So you want me to? Girl, I’m not your high school boyfriend”

“That’s it! I’m hanging up”

“Wait hold on” he stopped me.

“What’s it?” I asked.

“Dress casually. You don’t have to dress sexy for me. I’m okay with casual wears” he said.

“Dude!, I never agreed to go out with you” I reminded.

“Saturday. Star restaurant. 6pm. Don’t be late”

“Are you kiddi...”

He ended the call.

“Argh!” I screamed in frustration. I was supposed to end the call and not him.

Well, fuck him.

*SATURDAY*

Okay, so I said I’m going not going to appear at the date but right now, I’m standing in front of star restaurant.

“Why am I even here?” I said to myself and made to leave. “Maybe it won’t be that bad”

Hayden didn’t call me since he asked me out more like commanded me to go out with him.

What if he is not even inside?

I don’t even know the table? I didn’t ask. That’s because I thought I won’t be here now.

I entered. I was putting on a red baggy trouser and white Tuttle neck crop top. He said casual. I’m giving him casual.

I looked around and my breath stopped for a moment on seeing Hayden seated at the table beside the table. It wasn’t hard finding him after all.

The restaurant isn’t crowded. Just few coupes wining and dining.

I walked towards him and when I got to the table, I cleared my throat.

He looked up and checked my dressings and nodded satisfactory then he looked at his phone and looked back at me.

“You are five minutes late” he declared.

“I didn’t want to come”

“But you did. Have your seat” he ordered.

“Don’t Tell me what to do” i rolled my eyes.

“Then remain standing”

Tch! This guy is so full of himself.

I scoffed and sat down.

“Here.” He handed the menu over to me. “The winter was here five minutes ago but I didn’t not know what you want. When you are done checking. Will call the waiter” he said.

“Acting like a gentle man huh?” I blinks.

He didn’t say anything but went back to his phone. I looked around the restaurant and was about to return to the menu but the new presences in the restaurant stopped me. Holy molly! It’s Ezra ! and what the fuck, with Dolly!.

Dolly is my classmate. We aren’t friends because we are always competing against each other. Why the fuck is she here with Ezra?

My eyes met with Ezra but immediately he saw me, he looked away. They both sat down at the table not far from ours.

I stared at them hard and with anger as a waiter approached them.

“Your ex boyfriend?” Hayden’s voice brought me back to life and I flinched.

“What!, no, I don’t even know him” I denied.

I looked at their direction again and the waiter already left. Ezra looked at me and holds Dolly’s hand while she smiles sheepishly.

Are you kidding me right now?

He wanna play? Then I will teach him how to. Ezra was staring at me and rubbing Dolly’s hand who wasn’t aware of my presence.

I stood up from my seat. Hayden was about to say something about my sudden action but I shut him up by walking to his seat and placing my lips on his immediately.
