ISABELLA’S POV
“Ta-da!!!!” Adrian’s foster mother exclaimed with all smiles gesturing to a slender girl standing with them, the moment Adrian opened the door and we went in. Adrian looked at them with creased brows and so did I, because what was going on here? His parents and the girl frowned when they saw me with Adrian. “Who is she, Son?” His foster father asked, making Adrian hold my hand. “She’s my Fiancée,” He said with a confident look and smile. “Fiancée?” His foster mom and Dad exclaimed, including the slender girl who scoffed afterward. “I’m out of here,” The slender girl said in annoyance, and even though Adrian’s foster mom tried to stop her, she gently shoved the hand of Adrian’s mom away and then left. “What was that about?” Adrian asked his parents. Just then three persons walked into the house much to Adrian’s surprise. An elderly man and woman and a younger man. “I am hosting a family meal today. Let’s all proceed to the table shall we?” Adrian’s Dad gestured to their dining room and ignored the question Adrian asked. The moment the elder man and woman and a younger man walked in, I could feel the tension in the air. Judging from how they couldn’t acknowledge Adrian’s presence and how Adrian didn’t say hi to them, it made me know they weren’t on good terms. But I couldn’t ask Adrian any question. At least not in front of everyone. We all proceeded to the dining table and sat down. Our meal was served and everyone began eating their meals in silence. “What’s your name, young lady?” Adrian’s foster mom asked me all of a sudden. “Isabella White,” I answered, trying my best to sound very respectful. “What company does your family own?” Adrian's foster father asked me. “We don’t own a company and my parents are dead,” I answered. “So you’re a gold digger then,” The woman who walked in earlier with the elderly man said, making me drop cutlery noisily on my plate. “Excuse me?” I answered, unable to hide my annoyance. “Dad, warn Cordelia not to speak to my Fiancée in such a manner. “You’re just an adopted child Adrian. Know your place?” The younger guy who looked like he was an elderly man and woman's son said harshly. I could see so much hatred in his eyes to the extent that my annoyance died down instantly and I began to feel sorry for Adrian. Was this all that he had been going through? If I were to be in shoes I would have preferred to remain than to face this kind of humiliation. “Shut up Ivan. Adrian is older than you and you will show him all the respect he deserves whether he is my biological son or not,” Adrian’s foster Dad snapped at Ivan, making Ivan’s parents frown. “Brother, I heard you’re going to let this adopted son of yours take over our family company, why?” The elderly man asked. “Lucas this should be the last time you would refer to Adrian by that name. He is my son and after all these years I expect that you should have accepted the fact already,” Adrian’s foster Mom said in annoyance. “Oh shut up Susana. When fertile women and potent men are talking, a barren woman like you should never chip in,” Cordelia said in mockery, making Adrian and his foster father bang their hands on the dining table and making everyone flinch. “You will show my wife some respect Cordelia,” Adrian’s father thundered. “You know what I’m out of here. And for the record Ivan, the next time you speak to me that way, you won’t like what I would do and I’m not bluffing,” Adrian said and held my hand. “See!! He is threatening me. That is the kind of person he is,” Ivan told everyone seated there. “Never would we sit and watch him be the CEO of our family company because as far as I am concerned he isn’t a part of our family. He is just a bastard,” Lucas said. “Well, you lie because Adrian, my son, is going to be the CEO. He came to introduce his fiancée to us. That means he would be getting married and you know what happens after that,” Adrian’s foster mom smirked. I just silently watched all the drama unfolding before my eyes. “Let’s get out of here,” Adrian said to me and led me outside despite his foster parents calling him. “Is that what you have been going through? Who are those people?” I asked Adrian the moment we left. “That is Lucas’s family. He is the only sibling of my foster father. I’m sorry you had to see all that,” Adrian answered. “It’s fine. I’m the one supposed to be telling you sorry for beating all the harsh words Lucas and his family said about you. Has it always been like this?” I asked and he nodded in affirmation. Through his countenance, I could see that he was embarrassed. “Let’s head home,” He said and not wanting to dwell much on the issue any longer even though I still had a question to ask, I followed him to where he parked his car. I decided to ask him the question when he felt much better. But reaching our car, we saw the slender girl standing in front of the car with her arms folded on her chest, she was scowling at me. “Bitch, do you know how long I have waited for this opportunity to be Adrian’s wife? You think you can just walk in and spoil things for me?” The girl yelled angrily, making my brows crease. “Do you know her?” I turned to Adrian and asked. “I have never seen her in my life. I promise,” Adrian said, raising his hands in surrender. If Adrian didn’t know this girl then why was acting this way? “Young lady, who are you?” Adrian asked her and what she said next left my mouth agape in shock.ADRIAN’S POV“He is gay; do you know that? But I still love him, and I am willing to be with him. So back the hell off, bitch.” The slender girl said and slapped Isabella on her cheek. This enraged me, but before I could say anything more, Isabella slapped her back.Nice job, my little vixen, I wanted to tell Isabella but decided against it.“Never in your miserable life should you ever lay or think of laying your hand on me. Are you crazy?” Isabella snapped at the slender girl, making her flinch in fear.I just stood watching the drama with a smug smile on my face. Isabella hadn't changed a bit. Right from her school days, she was a spitfire. She never tolerated any form of disrespect.“Adrian is my man. Get that into your thick, dumb skull,” Isabella said to the slender girl who looked dumbfounded. My heart fluttered hearing her say that, even though I knew it was all an act. “Get that?” I rhetorically asked the slender girl before I held Isabella’s hands and led her to my car.The
ISABELLA’S POV“I was actually joking. She’s my sister, who just came to visit us. She was bored at home and decided to tag along with me,” Carlos said whilst letting out laughter we all could tell was fake. But by the way, he kept scratching the back of his head, and Adrian briefly chuckled; I could tell Carlos was lying.I won't lie, it saddened me to find out that Adrian hooked up with different kinds of girls, and the fact that Carlos was encouraging him enraged me more. But sadly, I couldn't show how I really felt about the whole discovery. I had to act like I wasn’t bothered at all.“You don't need to lie, Carlos; you're very bad at it. You brought a girl for Adrian to hook up with, and so what? It’s none of my business,” I rolled my eyes and said to Carlos. The girl who they brought to hook up with Adrian then smiled sultryly while looking at him.But I didn't say a word to Adrian, nor did I look at him. I just walked away, asking the maid to show me to my room.I knew my actio
ADRIAN’S POV “You see that girl you met when you and Adrian walked into our house?” Susana asked Isabella while I peeped through the half-opened bathroom door. Why was I hiding? I still didn’t know, or should I say I was in denial. I was embarrassed to face Isabella after the hot make-out section, which would have escalated to sex if my foster mom and the maid hadn’t interrupted us. I didn’t want to, but I couldn’t hold back my desire for her. Right from the moment I saw her after all these years, I always wanted to kiss. I always wanted to do unholy things to her body. I wanted to fuck her till all she could scream was my name while her body quivered with unfathomable pleasure. All this while I had just been holding myself back, and that is why I couldn’t hold back myself when she asked me why I was explaining to her about the hook-up girl Carlos brought for him. But wait, why was my mom secretly meeting Isabella? My brows furrowed. “Yeah, what about her?” Isabella ask
ADRIAN’S POV “Your foster dad is dead,” Ivan said, making me freeze. I was shocked to my very core. How did my dad die? I wasn't aware he was sick. So how the fuck was he dead? My heart ached after hearing this. My heart ached for Susana, my foster mom. I knew how much she loved my foster dad. I mean, what was there not to love about him? I loved him too. He was an honest, kind, and loving man, very understanding. “Mom, was he ill?” I asked her to be sure my suspicions weren't right. “I’m sorry, Adrian; he didn't want you to know. He said it would make you worried, and he didn't want that. Besides, I didn't know it was something that would lead to death,” she said amidst sobs. I squinted my eyes and sighed, fighting back the urge to shed tears. I was a man, and I was going to act as one. “On your dad’s dying breath, he said the company should be passed to Ivan. That he didn't want you to carry the burden of heading such a big company,” Ivan’s dad said all of a sudden, m
ISABELLA’S POV “This is the last time I am ever doing you a favor, Daniel!” I yelled angrily at him over the phone. Who on earth makes a deal when they know they are going to lose? Well, look no further; it was my goddamn brother! Here I was in the middle of the night, shivering to the bones, trying to help my brother complete his deal for us not to lose everything we had worked so hard from scratch. I walked into the restaurant, and when I stepped in, my anger immediately diminished. The smell of food wafted through my nose, and the music was playing at a moderate level, which made me feel relaxed. “A reservation for Mr. Black,” I said to the waiter who walked towards me. She scrunched her nose as she gave me a not-so-discreet once over. But I didn’t let that bother me since that wasn’t what brought me here. “Mr. Black?” The waiter questioned, like I had mentioned the wrong name. “That’s what I said.” I could feel the anger pulsating through my veins, but I managed to
ISABELLA'S POV“You hurt me, Isa, and I don't I will ever forgive nor forget what you did on that fateful day,” Adrain said and zoomed off.“No wait, please. Give me a chance to explain. It's not what you think,” I called out to him as though he could hear me but he was long gone. All these years, I was feeling guilty about what happened on that day. I wished I could turn back the hands of time.I got into my car, feeling drained all of a sudden. But I still pushed myself to drive back home.I arrived home feeling like a ghost of myself. Disbelief was clearly written on my face.I couldn't believe Adrian could pull off such a stunt. I assumed he would perhaps speak to me but seeing his reaction and how angry he was, I knew there was more to what happened tonight and I needed to speak with Daniel.“So, how did it go?” Daniel walked towards me. Speaking of the devil.Of all the people on earth he could mess with, he chose the one person I never wished to cross paths with again because o
ISABELLA’S POV The touch of air on my skin made me roll to the other end of the bed, but the feel of grains and shells made me snap out of my slumber. I glanced around, and with a sigh, I clenched my head as the memories of last night washed down on me. I still couldn't believe that Daniel would do that to me. I walked out of the hotel and took a stroll on the beach. I needed to return home. Ever since I left Daniel yesterday, I haven't seen him. He had tried to call me several times, but I didn't pick up his calls. I was still pissed at him. Perhaps it was time for Daniel and I to have a conversation. I didn’t know what we could do, but at least if we joined heads together, we could come up with something. All my life, I have always lived by the principles I set for myself. Well, except for that day with Adrian, which I so much regret. “Could I just talk to Adrian?” I mumbled as I kicked the sand in search of my shoes. No, I couldn't. Adrian had ignored me last night, and
ISABELLA’S POV I walked to the table where Carlos and Adrian sat and carried the first glass cup my hand touched and drank the content, but I hissed when I felt the burning sensation in my throat as I gulped the content. Gosh, it was vodka. Who serves Vodka at a restaurant? I could have sworn I saw Adrain suppress his laughter. But Carlos, on the other hand, was chuckling. “I won’t work for you, Adrian. Not after what I did to you. I know you will make my life a living hell for me if I do,” I said and walked out of the restaurant without looking back. I boarded a taxi and returned home. I thought that if I was well rested, then I could think of something. I wondered what would become of Daniel if I couldn’t bail him out. When I had gone to see him in the station, I could tell he regretted his actions. This was all too much for me; I couldn’t think properly, and I wasn’t sure what the right thing was anymore. Reaching our house, I saw a man who looked like a bodyguard s
