Chapter 89: Coming out of her shell.

Belle turned to look at Lucas before turning back to face the river. “What are you doing here?” She asked.

“Well, dad sent me to look for you as he was worried about you,” Lucas answered.

“Of course, only dad was worried about me,” Belle scoffed and Lucas squinted his eyes to look at his sister.

“Was I supposed to be worried?” he asked as he took his seat on a rock beside Belle.

“Would it kill you to admit for once in your life that you care for me?” Belle fired at Lucas.

She had never in her twenty three years of life heard Lucas say he cared about her. Every time he saw her, he was either bullying her or getting her annoyed.

“Do you want to hear me say that I care for you?” Lucas asked and Belle nodded in anticipation.

“Too bad we always want things we can’t have,” Lucas said and Belle threw a pebble at him in annoyance. He however caught it in his hand and he threw it back at Belle. The stone hit her leg but it wasn't painful as Lucas didn't throw it with force.
