Chapter 5: The Panic

IYA TRIES HER best to calm down but fails to do so. Some questions are starting to come out one by one that she couldn’t help but panic at the end.

“That’s normal,” Aunt May said. She is the doctor who took care of her for a few days that she's not waking up. Aunt Mary does her best to make her feel safe and nothing to worry about the moment she opens her eyes.

“T-there's no way to find out who I really am?” she couldn’t hide her disheartening voice,

“I'm sorry… aside from your cat, we found nothing from your belongings. For now, all we want is for you to relax and think about what you will do next if you gain your strength.”

“Thank you,” all she could say to the people who helped her.

When she’s alone inside her room, Iya does nothing but stare at her palm.

She doesn't like it but her mind couldn’t stop thinking about more questions with no answer.

“Do I have a family?” if she has, there's a possibility that they were worried about her. “I am now alone. I can’t rely on anyone but myself…”

Another day had passed and the people on the island found out about her condition. They made some different theories just to find out who she really is but all of it feels like they were wrong about her.

“What if she’s an undercover agent and the cat is a sidekick?” One of the neighbors joked around and made Iya smile.

“Then, she has superpowers that will make humanity safe with the help of her beauty.”

Some didn’t buy the joke but Iya just laughed at it once again.

“Achilles, where just her to tell that there’s a storm coming so prepare for it.”

Iya found out that because they were staying on an island, blackouts are prone in their area. So some are preparing before it happens.

“Auntie, what about your medical mission to another island?” Achilles couldn’t help but ask her Aunt Mary because she’s not getting any younger and coming back and forth wasn’t so easy.

“Just like before, I need to go because people are waiting for me,” she said while smiling after finishing what she’s doing. “This is her medicine, Achilles. Make sure she will take it on time.”

“Noted, Aunt Mary,” Iya answered even though she knows Aunt Mary is talking to Achilles.

“This is the time to go home, Neighbors,” Aunt Mary said while having a sharp look at the gossiper inside the living room.

“There’s nothing to worry about me,” Achilles insisted.

“I know but I’m pertaining to my patient.”

For the second time, Iya found herself laughing again.

“I will go now,” Aunt Marry said while taking all her tupperwares that Achilles cleaned up.

When she and Achilles are alone once again, awkwardness fills the whole room that she couldn’t look properly to the heaven sent man because of his stunning aura. He's just wearing this big white sando and cargo pants but her eyes were so contented that she didn't notice Achilles was looking at her too with his blank face.

“I need you to remember immediately. You're not allowed to stay here for too long. If possible, if you remember something, tell me.”

“H-huh?” Iya came to her senses and realized what she’s doing. Because of it, she knows her cheeks look like a tomatoes now. “I… I'm sorry if I invaded your personal space.”

Achilles just took a glance at her before he continued what he's doing.

“I-is there anything that I can help?”

“No need.”

Iya didn't say anything after that. She doesn't want to bother the person who doesn't want her company. She's not that idiot to not feel that Achilles doesn't like her. She could see it by the way he looked at her.

If she’s not embarrassed with Achilles' aunt, she will ask her if she could take her to her place but because she wasted so much of her time, Iya is not that shameless who will do that to the person who helped her.

“I will go outside,” she said with her low voice.

This is the first time she came out with Achilles' house. All she could do at that moment was to open her wide eyes with the form of an “o” to her lips. The beauty of the beach cannot justify the word “magnificent.” Everything’s look perfect to her eyes.

The sand is so white and fine that she could compare it to the flour. The water is so clear and blue. There's no trash that she could see that made her secretly thank the locals who took care of this paradise.

“Stunning…” she exclaimed while her sight was still in nature. “If this is the view that I can see everyday, there's no reason for me to return to my place!”

That statement made her lose her smile automatically.

“Be brave, Iya! You can do this!” she said to herself with so much determination.

She let herself be lost for a while enjoying what she could have for a while despite her amids of chaos.

She’s almost half an hour outside when she decided to return home.

“Achilles?” She searched for the man who took care of her but she didn't see him anywhere.

Just when Iya was about to come to the other side of the house, that's when she saw Achilles back.

“Achi—” her words were hung in the air the moment she realized what he was doing.

Achilles had three bottles of liquor and all of it was empty.

“Are you in pain too?” she asked him silently while restraining herself to come to him. “Don't worry. If the pain may not leave immediately but remember, it's not temporary. You will find a suitable road for you the moment you continue your journey.
