Megan Intl. Hospital: Los Angeles, California.
In one of the most renowned hospitals in the city, seated in the waiting room with her head facing the cleaned floors of the hospital was Olivia.
No one noticed what was going through her mind. Everyone was busy with their affairs. Yet Olivia sat there shedding silent tears. Her world had crumbled right before her eyes and she was completely helpless.
Who could she turn to?
Her eyes had swollen and it was becoming hard to keep the tiled lines of the hospital floor in a focused symmetry.
Why was life hitting her so hard?
Today was supposed to be the day her life would change. She was finally going to join the modeling agency of her dreams, but instead, this day had turned out to be the worst.
This was not supposed to happen. Her mother never laid any complaints about her health. Where did such a terrible illness come from?
Was she being punished? She thought to herself.
She had suffered so much and now that things were starting to look bright, this happens…
“Miss Olivia Michael!” A man called, pulling her out of her thoughts. Dressed in a white and blue uniform with a stethoscope around his neck he approached her. He was the doctor in charge of her mother.
Immediately her swollen eyes fell on him, Olivia jumped off the chair as her heart fluttered in anticipation of some kind of good news, “Y-Yes, sir!“
The doctor smiled at her and started coming toward her. But Olivia was faster. She closed up the distance between them in seconds
“Sir, how is my mother?“ She asked before the doctor could come up with a word.
“Miss, your mother is fine but we-” the man paused and Olivia's hope of good news dwindled. The doctor had seen the look of nervousness on Olivia's face and he had rephrased his next words carefully for fear of having her pass out from anxiety.
“Miss Olivia,” he called again, this time with less urgency. He needed to treat this case as subtly as he could. “I'm afraid your mother's heart is damaged and she'll need a heart transplant as soon as possible or she might not make it.”
Olivia's eyes widened at the doctor's words.
Her mother's heart was damaged and she was just finding out? Didn't things like this take time to get worst? When did her mother ever complain of heart pain?
And then Olivia realized it. All the times her mother acted like everything was fine... was fake. She was hiding it.
Her legs were shivering and her red cherry-like lips trembling in fear. Why? Why was this happening to her now?
Nevertheless, she tuned out the chaos in her head and asked the doctor, “Doc-doctor, what do we have to do now?”
The doctor could see the pain in her eyes, this was one of the hardest parts of his job but it had to be done, “We will need to get a new heart and due to its scarcity it is quite expensive to get one. It will cost around two million dollars. If we act fast we can easily get one in time."
Olivia's head went blank, it felt like her whole world was crumbling before her all over again. Was this even real?
Two million dollars?!
“B-but sir, I don't have that amount of money. I only have-”
“Miss Olivia!“ The doctor cut her short before she could complete her statement. He had done the worst part which was to inform her of her mother's condition. Now it was left for her to do the right thing.
“We are very sorry but without the money, we can't save your mother,” the doctor said sternly and left.
Olivia could not sit back in her chair, two million dollars was way too much for her to cover. Where on earth would she get that kind of money from?
“S-sir!” she tried to call the man, but before she could reach him he had left the waiting room and disappeared Into another hall that was off-limit for non-staff.
Tears fell uncontrollably down her cheeks. Who could help her in this critical situation? She asked herself, but couldn't come up with an answer, she crumbled to the floor and wept like a baby not minding the place she was at.
Then a name popped up in her head.
'Uncle Thomas!'
Yes! he would have to help her with some money if she told him what happened. She pulled out her phone from her inner pocket and dialed his number
After minutes of waiting anxiously, Uncle Thomas finally picked up the phone.
“Hello Olivia?“ He said in a stern tone, not sounding happy to pick up her call. He knew she was calling to ask him for something and he hated it already.
“Hello, Uncle Thomas! Mother's dying and she needs some money to get a heart transplant!” Olivia explained in a rush without giving herself space to breathe.
“What? A heart transplant? And how much is this money?“ Uncle Thomas asked and Olivia noticed the slight change in his coldness which gave her the courage to say the amount out loud.
“I-It two million dollars,” Olivia trembling lips replied.
“That's a lot of money Olivia!" The man exclaimed. "You know things are very hard, my wife and I are striving and my four kids just got into college this year and I need to provide for them too. I'm sorry Olivia, but I can't help you with this.”
With those empty words, he ended the call and a part of Olivia's heart broke off. She was devastated, “Uncle Thomas!“ Olivia shouted but he was long gone.
"NO!" Olivia wailed.
What would she do now? Without the money, her mother would die.
The realization brought fear crawling into her heart. "No," She mumbled as she got up from the floor. She wiped her tears and started walking out of the hospital. People gave her pitiful looks, but she didn't care. She needed help and she would find it... Somehow.
If asking for money from her relative didn't work, maybe a loan would be the answer to her problems, she just had to try because she was already running out of options.
She would do anything in her power even if it meant selling her body to earn this money, she would do it without any hesitation.
The Bank had turned out to be a failure even after mustering enough courage and assuring herself countless times before arriving there. Olivia had never expected the refusal of her request to be so abrupt. After the number of tears, she shed trying to plead with the bank staff even for consideration, it was to no avail because no one seemed to want to give her a listening ear.Since her last hope had been crushed down so much it felt like a wheel on a tomato. She stood on the road like a lifeless human with no direction. She didn't know what to do, who to turn to or where else to go for help. She felt hopeless and miserable at the same time...Why was life so cruel? After the death of her father years ago, life had been a living hell for her and her mother. But that didn't stop Mrs. Florence from playing her role and trying to be the best mother to Olivia. She made sure to put Olivia in a good school and struggled to pay the fees and provide for her every need.Since then, Olivia had b
Rather than correct her assumptions, the man frowned at her reply. She was poor but she was beautiful too. It was difficult to believe she was still a virgin.“Are you sure, you're a virgin Miss?“ he asked again and this time, Olivia only nodded.“Alright. I don't do slave trades though but I have a job for you," the man added after her response. It was not Olivia's turn to frown. If he wasn't buying her or selling her, what sort of job did he have for her?"I will give you some information about this job but if I find out you are lying to me about being a virgin. You'll regret it,” the man warned.Olivia didn't bother herself about his warning, all she wanted to hear was about the job and most importantly, how much money was going to be paid.“You'll spend some months with a man and bare him an heir. After the baby is born, you will have to disappear from the picture like nothing ever happened. And be careful, after you sign this contract, there's no turning back,” the man said sternl
Olivia quickly wiped her tears and looked out the window of the car. She was amazed at the new environment her eyes met. She never thought about where she was going or what it looked like but at the back of her mind, she didn't think a place that would bring her sorrow would look this breathtakingly beautiful. It wasn't a mansion, it was an estate! The door clicked, and Olivia looked up, it was the driver. She didn't know when the man stepped out of the car and walked to her side to open the door. She smiled and bowed her head to say thank you but this only shocked the driver. Quickly, he washed off the shocked look on his face and didn't utter a word.Olivia stepped out and her eyes traveled around her. The trees in the estate, made it look more like a reserved garden for the rich. The greenery was too beautiful to even describe. And it didn't stop there, there was a lake!A clear blue lake sat at the side of a mansion. Compared to the size of the compound, the mansion looked smaller.
The room Mary took her to was just as beautiful as the living areas they had passed on the lower floor. But Olivia was still lost in her head. She sealed her mouth and thought of she would live the next twelve months in a house as big as this, yet never see the person to whom she was assigned."Ma'am, I have started the water. Do you need me to help you?" Mary's voice sliced into her thoughts and Olivia moved her eyes to stare in her direction.Truly she needed a change of outfit. The maid in front of her looked much more presentable than she was in tenfold."I'll do it. Thank you," Olivia finally said as her brain reminded her of the question again.Mary led her to the bathroom where the tub was bubbling with jasmine-scented soap, just for her. Olivia got in and tried to scrub her body as best as she could. She tried not to think of what the strange man would do to her as she bathed and it worked.A few minutes later she emerged into the room and met Mary standing by the large bed."I
The man standing in front of her had a body that was made in the gym and he was naked. She tried hard to fix her eyes on his face but she found herself faltering as he took slow steps towards her.She tried to make out his face under the black mask but the dimmed light in the room rendered her no assistance. He was so confident that it scared her.Who was this man? And what gave him the right to come to her bed like that? She threw her eyes to the bedside table where she knew the button Mary had told her about was. Once she got to it, help would come. She just had to find a way to get to it.“I-I'm asking you a question!“ Olivia yelled trying to stall him as she redirected her position. He seemed to know where she was headed as he closed up the distance between them faster. She tried to back down but she hit the wall behind her. This was when she realized she was trapped. He walked impossibly closer until his face was just a few inches from hers. His hands trapped her on the wall befo
Olivia woke up to an empty bed the next morning. A thousand thoughts rolled up in her head as she sat up and stared around the room. Everything felt surreal to her. It felt like yesterday when she met the strange man who had proposed this crazy plan to her... And here she was..."I have to talk to him," She said as she threw the bedsheet to the side and got on her feet. The strange man seemed to know a lot more about the master than the maids. She had to at least get a name from him. She couldn't be spending an entire year with a nameless man!She took a quick shower and threw on the same clothes she had worn the day before. She packed her up into a ponytail and exited the room. The corridor outside was lonely just like the room, but its elegance could cover up for where it lacked. This strange master was really swimming in money. Every detail in the mansion seemed to be carved in gold. Waoh!"Oh, I was just about to come to you, ma'am. Good morning!"Olivia heard the chirpy voice of
Olivia stared at him, batting her eyelids in pure embarrassment. Was she really touching herself while thinking of him?It was barely forty-eight hours since they'd been together and she was already entertaining fantasies about him to the point where her brain had incorporated them into her dreams…This was certainly worse than she thought!Goodness, he must think she's on the verge of masturbating! How on earth would she convince him otherwise?!"It…its not what you think."Olivia tried to defend herself. The look in his eyes sent warmth down her spine. He had that hungry gaze as he took in the sight before him."What do you think this would mean?" He asked, enjoying how much he teased her.Olivia swallowed hard, licking her lips out of anxiety. His eyes followed the swift movement of her lips and found himself groaning in frustration. She had asked for a few days to prepare her mind…"How long is it?" He asked.Olivia looked genuinely confused, her innocent eyes staring into his….I
Olivia woke up to the sound of the curtains moving , letting in a ray of sunshine into the room.Mary turned, a big wide smile on her face.Olivia couldn't help but regard the blonde suspiciously. There seemed to be something awfully wrong with her and the way her smile never seemed to reach the depth of her eyes…."Good morning madam! Would you like to have a cup of coffee?"Olivia took a glance around the room. Mr Stranger didn't come back last night…Where did he spend the night? He could have joined her in the middle of the night and she wouldn't have noticed as she was a heavy sleeper."Madam?"Olivia averts her gaze to Mary, her mind blank as she clearly didn't hear a word she had said."Would you like a cup of coffee? Or smoothie?""Smoothie…."Olivia's eyes dart open in awareness. That's it!She's been wondering what she would be doing during the day and now she had it figured out!She could practice and prefect her catering skills.Olivia got out of bed and pulled her nightro
Olivia went through her phone trying to think about the keywords she could use to find out about this guy.If he owned the most successful business in the country, then there had to be something about him online!Mary had mentioned that his name was Lucas too…That name didn't ring well, but if he could afford a mansion like this and pay for her mother's hospital bills in a second, then he must be a really big shot."Let me try, Lucas, the CEO of the most successful company in the country"Her browser pulled up several articles, mostly scandals about the supposed guy.All she got was a lot of news about the latest old men and their latest sugar babies .She cleared off her browser, using her words carefully. The most successful business executive in the country, Lucas. The image of a tall , hefty man in a suit popped on the screen. He had really dreamy eyes and a striking jawline like Mr Stranger….She looked down at his lips….This cannot be mere concidence! Those tempting red, lusci
Olivia watched as Mary moved her things out of the room and made a way through the door linking her room and his together.Did he hate the sight of her so much? What exactly did she do wrong?"Did he say why I should move?" Olivia asked once more.Marry took out my clothes from the closet , laying them on her arms gently."Master didn't mention it. Such important details are not in our place to know""Geez, do you intentionally talk yourself down just to make your boss feel good about himself?" Olivia asked.Mary arched a questioning eyebrow."You make him seem like some scary guy", Olivia shrugs."We are not allowed to say, but the master is not the type to be messed with"Olivia nodded as though mocking that detail."He must be some monster from the west""Master is no monster", Mary replied vehemently. She couldn't understand why the master's wife would speak so ill of him."Why does he have that mask over his race then, uh? And his harshness? Give me a break!" Olivia muttered."It
