A sigh escaped my lips and I leaned in to Maverick. He reciprocated by wrapping his hand around my shoulder and pulling me closer to his body.

We were now sitting outside on the chair in the garden. I chose to sit out here because I couldn't bear to be in that house for a second longer. It was suffocating me. It was like a hand was wrapped around my neck choking out every air in my lungs. I could only breathe when I reached out here.

My eyes went to the stars in the sky shining and twinkling brightly.

"Maverick?" I called and he hummed in response.

"The sky is beautiful tonight." I complimented.

"It is?" He asked and I looked away from the sky to his face to see he was staring at me the whole time.

"What?" I asked blinking at him. He didn't reply as he looked away from my face to the sky.

"It's not so beautiful." He replied and I rolled my eyes at him.
