Chapter Seven:Sniper In The Building!

"That will be all for your schedule today, Mr. Castillo?"

Donovan heard his secretary, Destiny say, as he was done checking his phone while waiting for the doctor's medical report on Ares' today. The doctor and nurse that were in charge of him, would always send over a message if he didn't come over to see Ares every morning.

But there was no message on his phone, other than that of Candy's stupid, unapologetic ass, demanding that he introduce her to his family and make their relationship official.

He was annoyed. The only reason why she's still alive and breathing was that she gives a good head, and out of all the women that he had ever been entangled with, she's the one who knew and understood her place.

But now she's tripping, which made him know that it's time he did something about her ass.

He looked up to see his secretary's eyes fixed on him, one that he wasn't blind to see what she wanted from him. Women and their unending greed for money and fame. It hasn't been a month since Destiny started working for him, too bad that he's going to have to change his secretary again!

"What are you still doing here?" He demanded harshly from the young lady, as if she was the reason for his bad day. No, it wasn't a bad day for him because that was literally his signature face.

Donovan was always angry, he was a man of little patience and, with everyone working for him who knew what sort of man he was, did their best to avoid being the reason why that handsome face of his greases up.

Destiny was now scared, that she couldn't properly answer his questions and seeing her like this made him satisfied, that at least she wasn't like Candy and the doctor in charge of Ares' who needed to be taken care of.

"You haven't …given your permission yet to sign the deal with Caesar Corp, sir?" Destiny muttered, while rubbing her sweaty palms against her skirt.

She felt like dying at this point when his dark gray eyes swirled over to hers, threatening to deal with her for disturbing his peace even when he didn't say that.

Donovan came back to his senses at the talk of Caesar Corp, his new billion dollar project that was being handled by Ares, before his accident. He hasn't put anyone in charge of it and that's because he's been busy. Yet, he couldn't trust anyone else in the company apart from Ares to help him deal with Caesar Corp.

His father and stepmother's men filled the place, irrespective of him being the owner of this establishment. He was reminded that his father handed this over to him, before he made things bloom on his side for being smart and wise in business.

His stepmom was a shareholder too in his company, and she has been talking. Talking about how incompetent it was to hand over the family business to him, even when Angelo, his father, had already made that decision for him to handle the company, just like it was with the Jade dragons.

The woman doesn't want to respect Ares' decision, not to involve himself in the family business, including that of the underground business. She wants everything for Ares!

"About that, set up a meeting with the directors, and tell the company that everything will be handled by the end of this week." He replied Destiny.

"Of course, Sir." She said, taking note of what he had just said before taking one last look at him, and turned to leave, only for the door to be yanked open and reveal his father, Angelo Castillo, who wasn't in a good mood to see him.

Well, he doesn't have the best relationship with his father so far, so it doesn't bother him what was going through the man's mind. As long as he's able to stay in his lane, and do what's proper by giving him the respect he deserves, that's fine for him.

Destiny dismissed herself, leaving the indifferent father and son who were glaring at each other, before Donovan did what was right by taking his father's palm and kissed his ring as a sign of respect.

"You didn't tell me you were coming over." He said, turning around to press the button for Destiny to send in some refreshment, but he paused at his father's next words.

"You know what I'm here for, Donovan, and you will do what's right by telling me where exactly you kept Ares' body." Angelo demanded, in a serious tone that made Donovan know that he wasn't here for jokes.

His stepmother was pulling the strings here. He could see that, but seriously did they think that Ares is dead?

Who told them that Ares is dead?

Why did they conclude on their own that he was dead?

There was something fishy about this right now, but first, he cleared the situation with his father. "I'm not done with conducting examinations to figure out who…"

"What else do you still want to find out, Donovan?" Angelo interrupted him. "Ares was stupid to go out without protection, and now he's dead as a result of your enemies hanging around town."

This next statement captured his attention, and he looked at his father with keen eyes.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Your men are definitely trying to run you over, son. The Blacksmiths are here in your city, and you knew nothing about it?" Angelo laughed, but the laughter died even before he knew it.

The Blacksmiths were no joke!

"I was busy sorting out invites for the Mafia convocation party…'' Donovan trailed off.

"Which is one more reason I'm convinced that there's a mole among your men. You didn't know that because clearly something is going on, which has to do with Ares' accident, and you are the next one in line.."

"He's alive." He cleared his father of Ares' situation. Angelo coughed, straightening his suit when he heard his statement. "He's in a coma, and i don't know when he's going to wake up. Just to avoid unnecessary attention, it's better to believe that he's dead for the time being. I'm planning on conducting a burial."

"You can't lie to your mother…" Angelo started.

"Nora must never know that he's alive, it could ruin my plans," Donovan ordered, making Angelo sigh tiredly.

It has been hard trying to console his wife about Ares' disappearance, and Donovan refusing to let her see him. Now, he didn't know how he's going to put up with her, not blaming Donovan for Ares' death, because clearly everyone knew that the way to get to Donovan is through his brother.

"I will do that, but for now…" Angelo was still talking when Donovan felt something move on his father's body. When he understood what that was, he pushed his father to the side just as the sound of glass shattering and gunshots were heard.

"What the fuck!" Donovan yelled in anger, he looked at his father to see him holding his side. He had been hit. He took his gun strapped under the table, but the sniper at the next building saw his movement and ducked for his life.

The target was his father.

"Father, are you okay? Help is on the way." He told him, pressing on his injury to stop the bleeding while waiting for his men to pull up.

They had attacked Ares, now his father. The Blacksmiths are really asking for it, and when they have his attention. He will make sure not even one of them lives to tell the tale of his wrath.
