The following morning, Valerie had woken up and prepared Chadrick's favorite meal, which was scrambled eggs, oatmeal and milk for breakfast.
She was still conflicted about the way she was going to tell him that he wouldn't be going to school in the meantime. Whereas, her mind was playing every scenario of how she was going to fully concentrate on work, and trying to keep up with checking up on Chad at their neighbor's place. Mrs Gemma was a sweet lady that didn't treat Chad like the others do, which was why Chad had no problem staying there, since it was just her, and her husband, who treated Chad like his son too. He has been a loving fatherly figure in Chad's life for years. It's sad how unfortunate good things rarely happen to good people. The couple didn't have children of their own, and neither were they planning on adopting. She prayed that a miracle would happen to Mrs. Gemma soon, because she truly is a sweet soul. "Breakfast's ready, Chad!" She yelled from the kitchen, for Chad, who was taking his bath, to hurry up. She isn't planning on going to work late today, because clearly Jonathan might be waiting for an excuse but find issues with her, and fire her. After she was done arranging the dining table and their meal, the doorbell rang, making her wonder who it was, because she wasn't expecting any visit from anyone except from the homeowner who was sure to come demanding last month's rent. She held her breath, while already planning on a lie to tell the woman, only to come face to face with her best friends, Jolene and Tommy. She had forgotten so soon that Jolene said that she was coming over, but she didn't mention anything like Tony tagging along. "Girl! Move." Jolene said, holding a bag of chocolate for Chad, and pushed her aside while calling for Chad. While Tommy had to come in after her. "Are you okay? I heard what happened from Jo."He asked Valerie, who rubbed her palms to get rid of the nervousness she was feeling. Just like she met Jolene, Tommy has been her friend for quite some years now. Although she was aware of his feelings for her, she tried as much as possible not to respond to his green light. She just didn't want to ruin the friendship they had, besides. Besides she wasn't ready, no! She doesn't have what it is to be in a relationship right now. Besides, Tommy was too good and had a bright future to settle for the likes of her, yeah! His father is the town's chief while Joanna's father is the town's sheriff. They basically had a normal life which she didn't want to ruin with her bad luck. "As you can see, I'm just trying to settle with the flow of things." She laughed shyly, before looking at her side to see Chad already seated at the dining table with Jolene feeding him, and showing the chocolate she got for him. She spoils Chad too much, figures! That's why he likes her. "You know I'm always here if you need anyone to talk to…''Tommy stuttered with his words, not knowing exactly how to go about making her see his real feelings for her. "Yeah, thanks. I have to prepare for work." She forced a smile before leaving for her room. When she was in, she backed herself against the door to stop her racing heart. Jolene shouldn't have come with him, but that will only make it awkward that she's avoiding him, right? The last thing she needed right now was him knowing about Chad's health issue too. Tommy was too good for her liking and would try to help out. But this was her responsibility, she didn't want to feel bad or indebted to him or to Jolene. The only thing she needed right now would be to confide in Jolene's father about Vanessa, and see if he would be able to help her out. Right now, she doesn't know how long she can still keep up with the fact that things are okay with her. Moreover, Chad will be asking about Vanessa soon. The fact that she didn't call like she does on rare occasions, made her know that Vanessa was playing on not keeping in contact with her. "Hurry up, Valerie. We are late!" She snapped out of her thoughts, before she hurriedly dressed up for work. She came downstairs to watch Chad, playing video games on Tommy's phone whose eyes were on her the whole time, while she was packing Chad's lunchbox. "Hey, are you okay?" Jolene poked her hand, "Have you told him yet that he's not going back to school?" Valerie shook her head negatively. "He hasn't said anything, and it's way past time for him to leave for school. So, he probably knows that he's not. But i will talk to him about it tonight once I'm back." Jolene patted her shoulder to assure her that things would be fine. "I told my father about your request to see him. He will be free when it's lunchtime." "Thanks Jo." Valerie said, before turning to face the other two. "Time to go, big guy." She sang. "Mrs..G..emma house?" Chad asked, he was too smart for his age and read her mind on many occasions. Jolene looked at Valerie who was finding it hard not to break down in front of him. "Yes, Chad. Your sister has some issues to settle over at your school. So, you will be staying at Gemma's for a while, okay?" Jolene spoke up, and without asking any question Chad intertwined his hand with Valerie's, which made her know that it was time to leave. After they dropped him off at the neighbors', the three friends walked out to work and Valerie saw the same car that was parked outside the building. It was still in the same spot, attracting unwanted attention because nobody was filthy rich in the neighborhood to own that car. "Who do you think owns that?" Jolene asked Valerie, as the two stared at the tinted glass car. A man was by the side of the car making a call, with his back facing them. When he turned around and their eyes met, Valerie was sure that she had seen that face somewhere, but she just couldn't remember where. The man smirked at her, which made her look at Jolene just to make sure that she was not the only one that saw that. "He's so handsome," Jolene cried, after they passed the car and that attractive stranger, whose mysterious smirk of his still lives rent f*e in her head. "No, he's not." Tommy said, and slapped Jolene on the back of her head before running off. "You pig!" Jolene yelled, running after him, leaving just Valerie, who felt like she was being watched. But when she turned around she saw no one. Clearly, she was being paranoid because of Vanessa. "Guys, wait up!" She yelled after them, hoping that today would be a good day. If only she had known that this was the calm before the storm!"That will be all for your schedule today, Mr. Castillo?" Donovan heard his secretary, Destiny say, as he was done checking his phone while waiting for the doctor's medical report on Ares' today. The doctor and nurse that were in charge of him, would always send over a message if he didn't come over to see Ares every morning. But there was no message on his phone, other than that of Candy's stupid, unapologetic ass, demanding that he introduce her to his family and make their relationship official. He was annoyed. The only reason why she's still alive and breathing was that she gives a good head, and out of all the women that he had ever been entangled with, she's the one who knew and understood her place. But now she's tripping, which made him know that it's time he did something about her ass.He looked up to see his secretary's eyes fixed on him, one that he wasn't blind to see what she wanted from him. Women and their unending greed for money and fame. It hasn't been a month sin
"You should have taken me straight home, Donovan. What were you thinking?" Angelo yelled at Donovan for taking him to a hospital, when he should have done what was necessary by taking him home. But rather, he was stuck here at an expensive private hospital, without any idea of what was going on outside.Thankfully, the bullet wound didn't rupture any vital organs or arteries, seeing as he still had the mouth to shout at Donovan, who ignored him and was on call to settle the media team that was going frenzy with the attack at the company.Angelo sat up on the bed, not caring that the stitch might open up. It was going to take more than just a gunshot to bring him down. "What are you doing?" Donovan questioned his father, when he saw him going for his clothes. "What does it look like I'm doing?" Angelo sassed back at his son, before putting on his jacket while Donovan sighed at his action. Clearly, he could see that it hurt his father's reputation, for being publicly embarrassed both
Thankfully, Jonathan wasn't in a bad mood today, seeing as Valerie was granted an early leave today just so that she could talk with the town's sheriff, Jolene's father. It was late in the evening when she stopped at the station. With a knock at the door of the sheriff's office, Valerie met with the face of Scott Harris, her fatherly figure. "Valerie darling, how have you been?" Scott sat up to receive Valerie with a hug, it's been a while since she came to the family house, now that she's here seeing him, she. She had been feeling bad for ghosting him and his wife, Aurora, for months. "I'm good, Mr.Harris. It's been a while." Valerie said shyly. "Yeah, thanks to you forgetting about us, but I'm good. Aurora has been asking about you for a while, you know how she is."Scott said while pulling out a seat for her. "How's Chad, by the way?" Valerie watched him sit down, "Chad is doing fine." She kept it simple, she didn't want people to take pity on her. It was depressing, that anyone
"She should be awake by now.""The boss? He should have been back by now?"B..boss?"It doesn't matter, I will set up the pace for what's about to happen, wake the girl up!"Voices?Valerie heard voices, one that didn't seem familiar as she groaned tiredly, her eyes felt heavy and the light that was flashed right at her face, made it impossible for her to fully open her eyes. Her body felt like a train ran over her. Her hands? She couldn't feel her hands, neither did she feel her feet too. She didn't understand what was going on, until she heard the voice more loudly and close to where she was."She's awake, Sir."Sir?Her face ceased in confusion, who is sir?It was at that moment, as she struggled to open her eyes and to raise her heavy hands up, did the event of what happened in her house flashed across her face, and her eyes snapped open to land on the red angry ones that belonged to an unfamiliar face."W..where am I?" She asked, scared of her life, as the man in front of her let
Valerie was paralyzed for some seconds. She had expected some disgusting old looking man to be the head of such a vile association that trafficked girls, and forced them into prostitution. But no! She was dead wrong. Standing in front of her with his hand in the pocket of his pants, was a man, a gorgeous man. He was tall, almost 6 ft 9 by the looks of it. He appeared much older than the innocent looking young lady, who couldn't look away from him. His sophisticated, dark exterior, made him appear superior to every other ordinary person. Jolene found Marco cute, but this man here, clearly God took his time creating him. She was jealous, so jealous of his thick eyebrows and long lashes, was it even possible that he had all that when he was not a female? His dark, tousled hair hung down his shoulders, it was such a contrast to his icy blue eyes. Hence, he looked more of a supermodel, than actually a thug It was really hard for her to believe that he was part of something so… sinful.
The Blacksmiths Organization.Brazil.9:50pm."Where is he?" Mr.B asked his secretary, who hasn't said anything yet about the agent sent on the mission to kill Angelo Castillo, the Big boss of the Jade Dragon Mafia, one that they didn't know if it was successful or not, because his tracker wasn't showing anymore.Mrs. Eve sent an ambivalent look at her boss, which made the man know that she had nothing. He grunted in anger before storming his way outside the office and into the security room, where the agent's in charge of keeping track of their people were working. No one knew who started the Blacksmiths Organization, neither did anyone of them know who funded the activities. The organization was sworn to secrecy and every single agent had a role to perform. The Blacksmiths swore in people who had nothing, people that had nobody to look for them if they went missing. So, it was much easier not to have anything holding them down, for any mission. They are barbaric, cruel and heartles
"She's proving stubborn and stupid." Donovan muttered to himself, the moment they came out of the dungeon room with Marco behind him. Blood trickled down his face, his shirt was soaked. The blood belonged to the woman inside and it didn't bother him.Rather, it tickled Donovan's fancy that despite what he had done to her, she still maintained the same lie that she had given him in the first place, about not having any idea what she was being asked of, and why she was here. It was a great insult to him, and he didn't waste time turning to face Marco."Cut the light off in the room, and lower the temperature, let's see how far she can go with that lie of hers." He said lastly, before leaving for his room where he found Candy, lying stark naked on his bed and that made him angry.A woman like her doesn't deserve his bed. At this point, he's reminded of the fact that he needed to put her in her place, but has been too busy to do that for days."Master, you are back." He heard her speak,
"Something's wrong, she's not picking up." Jolene told Tommy, who as well was calling Valerie's phone, it's ringing but no one was picking up. They were supposed to meet up after work, and it's just barely nine in the night. Jolene knew that she signed out for work early today, just to meet her father based on her concerns about her twin sister, Vanessa. Jolene never really liked Vanessa and neither did Tommy.Vanessa might have been the eldest, but she doesn't act like one. All she brings to the table is to get both Chad and Valerie, concerned about her whereabouts, while she's out doing god knows what.Yeah, according to Valerie she brings the money, but Valerie stopped using her money because she didn't know the source, that's why she's working hard to provide for herself and Chad. All they could do was to be right there for her as a friend, and support to the best they can. But right now, they were worried that something was wrong with her."She's not picking mine either, she mi
