Adrian's POV

The shocking discovery made within the last few hours and the clarification that followed kept me thinking about it over and over again. I had a two-year-old child I never knew about.

Walking into the penthouse, I saw my mother pacing back and forth, her face etched with worry. She must have heard my footsteps because she instantly stopped, snapping her head in my direction, her eyes washed with relief and tension.

"Where have you been, Adrian? I've been worried sick" She exclaimed, rushing to me and cupping my face.

I couldn't tell her the truth. Only God knew how much lashing Joyce and I would get when she found out our child.

"I had an emergency meeting to attend," I lied with a straight face, trying my best to avoid having eye contact with her.

"An emergency meeting?" she questioned, her brows furrowed in suspicion. "I thought you had a personal assistant who could attend meetings like that on your behalf."
